Not really a question to ask, all you are going to get are opinions that might or might not be different than yours. I have a small gaming library and this is part of it along with COD 4, NHL 08, Rock Band, and GOW.

Rent it first, then decide!

Because, frankly, I don't know if any game is worth 60 dollars. I sure don't buy games because they are games, I buy games because of my needs and my wants, and then I lie to myself and pretend like it was a wise choice.

The only way anyone could hope to help you here is for you to tell us your needs and your wants and your condition, and then we could tell you if the game matches that.

Anything less you can get by scoping through the thousands of opinions already present. In fact, that's probably still the best way.

The answer is no, don't buy this game, it's not worth it. I would highly recommend College Hoops 2k8, NHL08 and NBA 2k8, however.

buy 2K7 cheap or hell, 2K5 if its backwards compatiable. Then update the rosters. It will be as much fun, but you wont feel bad for wasting tons of money.


btw...some games are worth $60...i paid $160 for Rockband and it was one of the best investments ever, I cant tell you how many Rockband parties i have already had. However, this is not the case. My waring however, willl be to NEVER play the Show if you arent goig to get it...you will never find ANY of the baseball games of the last 4 years acceptable.

Also read the bug thread and ask yourself "Could I live with that and feel good for shelling out my $60 on a game that has all these bugs and problems"

I bought a PS3 two nights ago. Played the show. I am returning the PS3 for a 360 w/HDMI tomorrow.


To the OP. I use GF now. That way you dont ever pay $60 for a game unless you like it.

2K8 is not worth $60 for sure, maybe $10.00. It's a step back from 2K7... I tried to like this game, but the graphics and framerate are a major let down.

It's worth the cost of a rental IMO. I wish that's what I would have done instead of buying it. I bought it so I could have a baseball game to play online for my 360. But, after playing The Show, I find 2K8 unplayable.

Why are kats giving their broke excuses about paying $60 for a game? If it hurts you that bad you should not be gaming. You should be playing bingo or something else. The reason i say this is because $60 is not alot of $ if its something your going to enjoy for a while. Something i enjoy but i consider worst is going to an expensive restaurant and get drinks and pay $150 for it. It will be out your system the next day lol. Dont get me wrong i like drinking sometimes but thats more a waste to me. Some games are not worth $60 but for people to complain and say no game should be $60 is different. The op should have asked is it worth a purchase? My answer is NO. Is it worth $60? Hell no!! More like $30. Horrible graphics horrible framrate etc.

Since $60 is the average price of Next gen games, I would say at first glance that Yes it is worth it.

Decent Gameplay
Decent Graphics
Decent Presentation
Online Enabled
Diversity of Options provides High replay value (i.e. Tournament Mode, HR Derby, Card System, Old Time Unis, teams AND Stadiums

Then, depending on what system you are using, there are other pros and cons that will factor in such as:

How bad will framerate be?
Can I use custom soundtracks?
Are the graphics improved from last year?

These 3 questions all answer differently depending what system u are on.

No the Show is not bad at all. I just dont enjoy it. Its a very boring game IMO and 2K is much more fun to play. IMO of course.

I took the PS3 back today just because I like my 360 alot better. So I got a HDMI/new chipset 360 and gave my launch one to the kids.

I didnt mean to make it sound like I took took the PS3 back because the Show was bad. I would pay $60 for either game.
