less than i had before. i really didn't swing and miss a whole lot. i've played probably 15 innings in 4 demo games or so. before david ortiz was hitting all the homers with a few by manny, but since changing my swing, i've went deep with lowell, drew, and a walkoff by lugo a minute ago.

Re: Tips Using The Swing Stick??
Yea it just looks weird because of how i am writing it. It is definately the way it is supposed to be used.
See before all the steps were automatic as soon as you pulled back. Now it is more realistic. Instead of saying Back neutral swing , I could explain it as ,
Raise Foot
Plant Foot
Swing
Thats why you get those double step warnings. It times the first step , then the plant , then the swing.
After awhile it will be natural and you can almost do it in a fluid motion , but as far as learning the new mechanic I felt it easier to explain in direct terms as a precise 3 steps.Comment

Re: Tips Using The Swing Stick??
Wow, I don't know why this works, but it does. My number of hits only went up by a few on All Star, but my quality of contact greatly improved, including a HR even with my horribly weak SF offense.
Thanks so much for this tip. It saved the hitting for me.Comment

Re: Tips Using The Swing Stick??
Yeah man, i can vouch for this tip it really does the trick. I was really starting to get frustrated with the hitting. But along with pokerlife's sliders and this method of hitting i can finally start my franchise.
Thank youComment

Re: Tips Using The Swing Stick??
I must say that I agree as well, it seems like it does work, but I have one question. Sometimes it apears as if I am chopping down on the ball as if to a ground ball. Is that because the ball is low and that's the only way to hit it at that point, or am I doing something wrong? Maybe my timing is off? Is there a certain way to get under the ball or do I just have to time it better? Thanks for the tip, and I must say it has made hitting a lot more enjoyable! LaterComment

Re: Tips Using The Swing Stick??
Wow this works great. Lately I've been having a tough time hitting. After using the 3 step hit method I am now back on track. It's so much smoother and easier to hit.
BTW..is it just me or is utilizing the left stick essential when swinging at the pitch? When I first began playing, I didn't use it at all, and I was hitting nothing but pop ups and grounders like crazy. So I decided to use the left stick to aim my swing; push up on left stick for a high pitch, pull down for a low pitch, left and right for an inside or outside pitch; I've had plenty of basehits since doing this.Comment

I have noticed this as well. I really think it is just timing. They seem to swing where the ball is. So if you are late on a low pitch they kind of just stab quickly down at the ball.Comment

Re: Tips Using The Swing Stick??
so how do you really do this? flick or pull back on the thumbstick then let it go so its centered then push up on the thumbstick? I've tried this and it just doesnt work and feels weird. i just wanna make sure i am doing it right.Comment

Re: Tips Using The Swing Stick??
Yeah, what I do is quickly flick the R stick back and let go immediately when you'd normally take the step back. Then push forward to swing when the ball approaches. The reason I think it works so well is that it makes timing the second part of the swing (the push forward) much easier.
I still haven't been able to take pitches. Thats been my big problem with the swing stick all along. With classic hitting, its easy for me to wait for a good pitch and work the count. I have a hell of a time trying to not swing once I start the process of the swing stick.Comment
