    Re: MLB 2K8 Patch Update

I don't really experience much framerate issues that I can tell, the occaisional slowdown on a line drive to the OF, but honestly, it doesn't bother me. If it never got patched I wouldn't care. I'm not sure what everyone is just dying to have the patch for. Is there other fixes? I know they are fixing the Padres thing too, which would tick me off if I played with them, but I don't.

Are there other fixes in this patch? Personally, I'd just love the other team to actually throw a ball on default sliders and occaisionally steal a base. Other than these things, I think the game plays better than any baseball game I've played in a long time.

I'm actually much more concerned about getting a roster update than a patch.

You dont consider this speculation on Ronnie's part?
Not at all, because right after that he said:

Having said that, I wouldn't wait on them through the morning hours and I am only ready to declare the patch as being immenintely released.

To me, that says, if it doesn't happen, then expect it in the near future.

I took his advise, I didn't wait on it through the early morning hours.

That Ronnie guy is most likely some 17 year old douche bag. I have been defending the playability of the game from the get go. I said a few things today that were not so favorable of 2K and I was banned for...wait for it..."Second Offense"...I didn't even realize I had a first offense.

Ronnie is about as professional as a transient and like I told him, if he worked at my company, he would not be working at my company anymore with the way he talks to paying customers sometimes. Not talking about his words to myself as he never said anything directed at me that I took offense to.

Anyway, he is just a 2K mouthpiece. Remember that guy who was the Minister of Information in Iraq back when the US invaded the second time? That guy was always like...There are no US troops in Bagdad...BOOM BOOM in the background. Ronnie reminds me of that guy or a White House Press Secretary. It's not really Ronnie's fault though as he can only tell what he is told. It isn't like he has any functional idea about coding or how to program.

I'm hoping this patch does something to stop the game from freezing up - the last two times I played (the same game) it froze up on me, both after the 6th inning (meaning I've wasted almost 2 hours of my time). Pretty bad when I start yelling at my dog because I'm pissed that my #$$!@!# video game locks up. If this continues that disc is going to me broken into a million pieces.

I generally like the game but these freeeze-ups are killing me.

I haven't experienced a freeze up yet. I did with last years game but not yet this year. Then again, I haven't played in franchise yet, so that may be it. I'm keeping my fingers crossed.

Yeah well... there's a few differences between Ronnie Singh and Dana Perino. I mean, they're both idiots, but at least one's a looker.

                    Re: MLB 2K8 Patch Update

Ronnie's first and biggest error was giving a date to the people that left little to no margin for error.
When I used to work in a customer service profession out of college (insurance claims adjuster), we were always taught to set the customers expectations so that you are guaranteed to meet them. If we were going to send out a check the next day across the state, we would tell them that the check would be there in 7-10 business days, even though 95% of the time it would be there in 2-3 days. However, if we told everyone 2-3 days, we'd have a lot of pissed of people.

He should have said, MS has the patch, it's up to them when they release it. My best guess would be in the next week or so. He sure would have bought himself a lot more time and wouldn't have set the customers expectations at an almost unreachable level.

And yet you call him a name, now that is mature. I think I wouldn't want to work at your company.

Exactly. I knew right when he said it, it was going to backfire, especially knowing that MS was doing some work on the servers that night. I felt bad for him because he was only trying to do what he was being begged to do, but never give people a date unless you are the one who is going to make sure it happens and know for damn sure it is going to happen.
