You might be thinking of just before and after the game's release when he did explain that he was leaving Kush.

But, KushGamer was definitely on much longer talking about the new hitting system. He was even answering questions about 2K8 well before release.

Kushgamer was the lone exception, but unfortunately for us, he left the series shortly after forming any kind of connection on the OS boards.

As others have said, it may take a game that is regarded by most in a positive manner for them to make apperances on here and while I understand the reasoning, I don't think it's the right way to approach the situation. My guess is that they are waiting for a good review so that they can bury the anymosity many have towards the past releases. This wouldn't be my approach, but it's understandable.

I'm not saying that open communication will automatically make a great game, but it definitely can't hurt. Wish lists, impressions and Bugs & Glitches threads are nice, but unless each post is detailed, there is jus too much that can be lost to interpretation.

Ronnie may try to be that voice on the 2Kboards, but he's obviously spread too thin across all the titles.

Plus he's head of marketing AND lead programmer for 2K9. And that's when he isn't stuffing game cases with disks as they prepare for release day.

Ronnie is lead programmer? I thought he was just a "community liason." Did I miss something?

I was kidding, sorry I thought that would be obvious.

Re: 2K could really take a page from the other guys

I almost afraid to say this because any criticism about 2K on my part usually leads to a personal attack or an infraction...but here is my opinion on the matter...if you disagree please keep it about my point and not about me...or please let it be known that fair criticism of 2K is not allowed on this forum

                    There are few problems.

                    1. 2K team has not been together long. This has lead to them constantly re-developing the wheel.2K4-2k8 each year feels almost like a brand new game each year. I dare say that they might be better off taking a year off from games and make a monster game totally flushed out (possibly with a new name...so that way it has a clean slate)

                    2. 2Ks team would not want the negative scrutiny pre-release on a game and therefore wouldnt benefit from a communit preview. You see this in the movie industry all the time. when a sub-par movie is made they dont have a screening in fear that poor critical response would lead to reduction in sales. Just look at The Show community event...its making us salivate...but what if the guys said...x,y and z arent good. We might start looking over at 2k more. 2K and SCEA are in two different positions.

Sorry if any of what I said has offended anyone here. I dont believe I am bashing 2K per se. I want them to do good. But we need to be honest with ourselves. For me 2K9 is a definite rental. I want to see how they improve. One of these days I want to go to the shelf and truly be conflicted over which game to buy...like back in the early 2000s

Well #1 isn't going to happen. You can't get the rights to produce a game on multiple platforms and then skip a year becuase you need more development time.

I can agree that this year wasn't the time for them to have a community day for OS members. They need some time to get there feet on the ground.

#1. Well, I think that was more poor design decisions by Kush than by being a "new" team. They just got hung up on one thing too much (controls) and were kind of irratic in the other aspects. some developers get so caught up in one aspect, they forget to addres the rest properly. I think that's what happened here. VC, as a group is much more polished, in general.

#2. I completely agree that a community preview wouldn't have benefitted them much at this point. That said, what would benefit them is to have a presence on these forums to pass on info, field questions, and take feedback. It doesn't have to all be positive for it to be effective either. Someone has to be brave enough to take the heat (if it comes to that) as well.

For example, Ian Cummings (the new lead dog for Madden 10) started doing this before Madden 09 was released. He had minimal direct involvment in that game, but he new he was to be on-board and decided to come and be a point man.

He was able to get some very minor things accomplished for 09 (some uniform discrepancies fixed and things of that nature), but more importantly he was there. It made people feel like they had a voice.

More importantly than that, is he was there for all the backlash too. People need someone to point at and he stod up and took it. You should see the optimism that inspired over there, even though there is no hard evidence to support it. His involvement created that.

2K desperately needs this. Not just for answers and info, but to let their fanbase know they are really listening and involved. They can have "developers are listening" threads, but it's nothing more than a glorified wishlist thread without the interaction.

It's not something I would normally deem as necessary, but given the tremendous interaction from the SCEA guys, it might be at this point...for the sake of competition.
