2K could really take a page from the other guys

Pretty amazing stuff going on with that other game in terms of cooperation and interaction between their development team and the members of this site.

Their developers seem to constantly be on the boards and they actually organized a group of veterans within the forum and flew them out to the studios to spend some time with the developers and most importantly with the game.

After reading about their experience, it's no wonder why that game is in the state it is. Maybe this is a road 2K will cross sometime in the near future, but I would think the situation going on there is definitely the exception.

Regardless of what game is better, the developers over there really seems to be doing special stuff and really are building a repoir with their fans, even if it is only a small sample of their total customer base, and really taking their ideas and feedback to heart.

Wish lists are nice, but without any real interaction and dialouge, there is just too much room for things to be misunderstood and misinterpreted.

It wasn't too long when 2K used to do a lot of similar things (excluding the field trip) with their fans on the 2K site. I think the flack they took after 2K6 put an end to this, but maybe with a successful 2K9, those old ways can be realized again.

the guys making the show have also been together now for a few yrs., whereas 2k seems to shift the development to a different group every couple yrs., if vc continues making the game i believe we will see an excellent game from them as well.

well said. It's becoming a trend around here for EA games and 2K basketball as well. I actually wouldn't be too suprised if once the dust settles and the game's been out for a bit, the developers check in.

It likely won't be to the same level as The Show guys (they're incredible...and it's safe to say that here without them getting big headed...lol...doubt they check in here too often) but ANY interaction would be nice.

Of course, just putting out a solid product this year will heal plenty of people's wounds on it's own merit

I'm wondering why you would say that when 2K's developers never come here, let alone show up on their own board over at the 2K forums. Sort of like expecting a bundle of money to drop out of the sky.

            lmao...I completely get what you're saying...but I haven't gone crazy(er)

And...I never said I expected it. I just said it wouldn't surprise me, given the trend lately. I think it's quite possible as it seems EA is running with it almost across the board now, and VC and Blue Castle have people here as well.

A VC developer from NBA 2K9 is on those forums with some consistency and has actually popped in here to clear up the whole framerate thing too. So, we've got a drop in the bucket at least...lol.

Oh, and for the record, I don't count the 2K boards in this discussion either (nice to just make up rules as I go)...lol. If you developed a game for them, would YOU show up over there?
The place is still a zoo. Sure, the monkeys are now kept in their cages, but their still slingin' crap

Of course, I also think it all hinges on the game's success. I expect it to be an improvement and fairly well received (the standard isn't exactly high...lol) which is why I wouldn't be surprised if they pop in.

Now, if it turns out to be a disaster, do I expect them to show their faces? Absolutely not. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised to see the NBA 2K9 rep pack it up as well (particularly if there's a framerate issue)...lol.

Dang, 2 to zip! I'm going to have to either regroup and hopefully change the momentum, or send my enforcer out to punch the crap out of you.

2k guys have been here. We had KushGamer and he took responsibility for the overhaul of the hitting system in 2k8. Sounds like someone important to me.

BlueCastle has a poster here, too. It's not like they aren't here. The difference is that SCEA has been more involved.

Not to mention Simballer also. I'm pretty sure there will come a time when 2k makes that move & creates a Community Leader Program. VC definitely seemed to be interested in what we had to say, when they asked OS to create "2K is listening" threads in the Basketball/Baseball & Hockey Forums.

It would be nice if did pop-in once in a while & talk to us, instead of having to pop-in because the community is pissed about something wrong with the game

I know the excuse is usually that they are working on the game. And that seems fair. But, I do commend The Show team for finding a way to work on the game and still interact with the community.

Yeah, Simballer shows up on occasion, probably did more so on with NBA 2K and Kushgamer was here to make a clarification every now and then, but for the most part it's rare and random. The interaction over there is definitely not the exception.

The drop in here is usually to clarify a certain point like the frame rate issue in the reviews, but not a whole lot of back and forth. I just think that back and forth would go a much longer way to clearing up problems and concerns than they typical wish lists.

Kushgamer showed up for a couple of weeks as he was leaving his job with Kush, explaining why there were issues with 2K8 and its development. That's like saying Joe Torre dropped by to chat about the Yankees.

I think if 2k/vc can put together a solid effort they will come out of hiding and hopefully build and add on each year , instead of making a solid 2k7 and then for no reason making 2k8 ? bad Kush
