Anybody Popped in 2K8 in Anticipation?

I still got MLB 2K8, never traded it in because flaw N all it was still fun...although my old franchise/GM mode w/ the O's/Phillies doesn't interest me anymore I wouldn't mind starting up a new one just to tide me over for a few weeks (as my baseball desires grow).

Probably D/L the last roster update, sim the first season, and start from there.

Maybe using the Nats, or Padres (to use Peavy).

    Anyone doing the same?

I tried, but I never bought the game so I had to rent. I orignially played it on 360 and after the patch it wasn't too, too bad.

They only had the PS3 version though, and that was really tough to get into (my opinion).

I did pop in 2K7 though (still had it for my 360). It's still pretty fun and I've played around with a new franchise just to get used to the "feel" of the 2K game again (though obviously minus the better pitching/fielding controls)

Hopefully we'll see something worth while on this game again soon. Plus, a demo would be nice. We'll see.

Actually, I have been playing all along and will continue to play until either a demo (won't hold my breath) or til March 3rd. It's been nice passing the time changing the rosters to what they look like at this time. Later

Well that was m origional idea until I rebought it for the PS3 system. Man, the framerate killed the crap out of me. The whole game is just.........slow. There isnt any fast paced temp to the game in regards to fielding. I have considered the 360 version becasue the framerate is at least tolerable there but man I am hurtin. MLB2k8 is nothing more than a drink coaster. At least for the PS3.

I didn't even give it that much respect, drink coaster is far too much, I traded it in and got some worth out of it by at least getting some money into another game. Lets all hope this year is much better I love 2k and need them to make a playable game on the PS3, the show is good but I need a baseball game with a next gen feel.

Yeah, I've been playing 2K8 again lately. It's not that bad. Only thing that really annoys me is the excessive amount of AI homers, but other than that it plays a fairly good game of baseball with SFG's sliders.

Remember MLB 2K6 and the horrid issue of freezing for the 360? MLB 2K6 may be the worst sports game to debut on a next-gen console. Then came MLB 2K7, a game that looked excellent in presentation and actually offered some promise and hope in the gameplay dept. And then, the unfinished, sluggish product of MLB 2K8 came along, a game that seemed to take a two steps back.

If we follow the pattern of every other one, 2K9 should be slightly above average.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

Re: Anybody Popped in 2K8 in Anticipation?

MLB 2K8 did take steps back (graphically, laggy online, no AI steals, etc), but to be fair it took atleast some steps forward. The new fielding controls in 2K8 were definitely a step forward. Also, the swing stick was improved (allowing you to influence the direction of your hit, to push or pull the ball), and the pitching controls were good, but not perfect. Baserunning controls were also better. Animations were better too.

So 2K8 wasn't a total step backward, although it certainly wasn't perfect.

By all indications, 2K9 should blow it out of the water though.

Re: Anybody Popped in 2K8 in Anticipation?

I somewhat enjoyed it last summer, but part of that was because I didn't have any other choice of baseball games to play. Last week I played it for the first time in a few months and couldn't handle more than a couple of innings. The framerate is a killer.

I'm 99 percent sold on The Show, which means I'll have to get a PS3. After watching some of the videos, I'm thinking it will be worth it though.

Funny you ask that. I just did that last night. Hadn't played since June or July, maybe???

I'm getting excited about 2K9. Like I stated in another thread, I don't think it'll be a 'release day purchase without exception', like the last 3 years I'll wait to see what people say on here first. But I wanted to throw it back in and see how it felt.

I saw it on sale for $10 thought about it, looked at the back of the case and remembered how bad it was and put it back down.

liked 2k7 better. Have been messing around with it for a couple weeks now as I forgot how much I did like 2k7 (not 8).

.... really looking forward to The Show.
