Some more interesting (good & bad) tidbits, for the lazy:

Appears playing A and AA games is out, only AAA games can be played

Easier to get a handle on pitch location; resulting in deeper pitch counts and more walks

Hit variety improved

Scoring happens in a variety of ways

End of inning replays before a fade to black

Hasn't noticed progress lighting (was it in last year?)

Occasional user-issued walks

Can't change stadiums in any game mode

No WBC

I'm lazy, so I'll respond point by point in three words or less:

Appears playing A and AA games is out, only AAA games can be played
      Oh well.
Easier to get a handle on pitch location; resulting in deeper pitch counts and more walks
      EX-cellent!
      Hit variety improved
      Niiiice!
Scoring happens in a variety of ways
      It didn't before?
End of inning replays before a fade to black
      Cool.
Hasn't noticed progress lighting (was it in last year?)
      Maybe look harder?
      Occasional user-issued walks
      Only occasional? Hmmm...
Can't change stadiums in any game mode
      What the...? Dumb.
      No WBC
      Not a problem.

I think what he means is it's not only the long ball that's driving in the majority of the runs this time around.

Hasn't noticed progress lighting (was it in last year?)
        Maybe look harder?
Look at the ESPN screenshots. First inning, pitch-****ing-black. I don't know why they took it out, especially when I recall them saying that the lighting would be incorporated in real-time like the rest of the environment. Maybe it's just not in this build, but I'd be saddened if it was overall removed. Big downgrade IMO.

        Occasional user-issued walks
        Only occasional? Hmmm...
Remember that he's playing on default settings. Pro, All-Star, Legend... doesn't really matter. He's not tweaking the sliders to their full potential. Hopefully there's an option to hide that damn ball cursor this time around, that will be the only true way for us to unintentionally miss the corner.

Can't change stadiums in any game mode
        What the...? Dumb.
I know, I mean... what about exhibition mode? Home Run Derby? Don't tell me we're only able to play in St. Louis.

Do be fair, the guy over at GameSpot said he couldn't find where to change stadiums. It could be in there.

I now know more about what progressive lighting is. It was in last year's version; I believe light sources would change between innings. But shadows definitely moved across the field during the course of a game. If it's gone, that will be too bad.

It could be an early build. But I refuse to take anything substantial from the ESPN screens. They are compressed beyond reason (losing a ton of detail in the process). We also don't know in what circumstances they were taken. A developer could have fired up a game, set the start time at 8pm, and snapped a few screens. We just don't know.

As for the "occasional" user issued walks... I don't get the sense the GameSpot guy is a hardcore baseball player. He's admitted he swings at everything; he may not try to paint the corners and throw waste pitches to set up a hitter the way many of us do.

If Joe-Six-Pack is issuing a couple of walks, that's already a huge improvement over last year.

What no WBC? That freaking sucks!!! Well I will not get this game. I was really wanting that. I still will rent it to see what Timmy looks like. But I bummed that they did not go with the WBC. Oh well.

Its not a deal breaker for me, but I was hoping to play the WBC and maybe have some cool achievements associated with it.

It is for me. I loves that about 2k6. The game sucked, but that was a fun mode. I like it in the EA hockey too and 2k hockey. It just gives the game more life.

Not being able to play A/AA...could care less. Never played a single minor league game in MVP, The Show, or 2K, wasn't going to start this year. I just want my minor leagues, and to be able to control lineups, call ups, etc. Other than that, I'm good.

Progressive lighting is a bummer, or it's a late addition, or the guy answering questions doesn't understand. Weird as it was in 2K7 and 2K8. That will as of now, be my biggest disappointment.

Yeah it was blast in 2k6. But that is becasue I hit a HR with Chase against Canada to win the game. It was just one of those moment you felt proud to be an American.

I'm a bit disappointed you can't play A and AA ball in franchise. The lighting, if verified that it is gone from the final build, is also a bummer. The WBC would have been nice, but oh well.

The rest of the game sounds promising though (and that's saying a lot, IMO, based on last year), so these will only be minor frustrations if the game has improved significantly overall.
