I captured this frame from the practice video. Notice how the hitter lunges and tries to pull the outside pitch... The result is roller up the middle. This was NEVER ink 2k8. The hitter would take the bat to the ball completely stationery (no lunging) and successfully pull the ball hard down the line, or jack it out defying the laws of physics.

I'm pretty sure that (the lunging) was in 2K7 on pitches far outside or in. You're right though, it got pulled more often than not. So that may indeed be an improvement. I stand corrected on the "nothing improved over 2K8" gameplay assessment..

As I said, if there are other subtle changes to gameplay that I'm missing, I'll happily say I'm wrong (it happens enough, so it won't be a shock...lol) and go from there.

We'll see how it plays out and if it's enough for me

EDIT: To further clarify, I'm not saying any of this to down the game. It doesn't need to be perfect, but I'm already buying the other one, so I'm hesitant to spend 60$ on a second game I'm just "meh" on.

The PC version is still very much on my radar due to the price and potential for customization (meaning fixes, hopefully). I enjoyed 2K7 immensely, despite it's glaring gameplay flaws, so I do know how to enjoy a game for what it is. I'm just saying I haven't seen anything that sells me...yet...that could, of course, change.

What are you talking about? I'm not calling him out , I'm agreeing with him. Get the darn stadiums right. If the users of the game can edit them correctly, why can't the actual developers?

I'm seeing good things but yet very simplistic things. It seems that they are doing just enough to have a playable game this year. 2k8 was unplayable and this years LOOKS like it IS playable

The camera is so much better this year as well from the pitchers point of view which is great. the ONLY thing really is wrong is the detail in the game it just feels like it's without any life. It's got avery bsic look to it for being on next gen.

I agree. I hope they open it up on the PC so you guys (you used to do ones for MVP, correct?) can do your thing.

Yeah those and the big green "Swung Very Late" that flashes should be done away with. Last year, this was placed at the top of the screen and kind of out of the way.

As far as the yellow circle, I agree it's ugly. But here's the thing about it. In 2K7, they used white, almost transparent visual guides that got lost in the backgrounds of certain stadiums to the point that you really couldn't pitch effectively. So I think they want drastic in the other direction to offset this. However, there is a mid point that could be achieved without looking like something out of a cartoon.

It's like you don't want it to hide the catcher, but if you put it off to the side, then you are forced to take your eyes away from the game play. If they toned it down and made it less flashy, it would at least be not as hard on the eyes.

Yep that was me. I don't think "they open it up." That would be wonderful, instead we have to break in. It happened along time ago for EA, we now just have to crack the code for 2K.

lol...I get you. That's what I meant (not particularly computer savvy in that regard, hence the flub).

They were able to get into NBA 2K9 relatively quick though for some minor facial edits I believe, so hope is alive

You could turn off that late swing and step feedback in 2k7 and 2k8, so we should be able to in 2k9.

I'm most likely going to use 2k8's pitching in 2k9, so I hope that yellow circle isn't there, and of course, THE MEATBALLS.

Yeah I noticed that as well as I'm sure everyone else did but I'm sure the user was playing an exhibition game so that's probably the reason for blank scoreboards.

Might be a good sign for real time scoreboards being those games are exhibtion

One thing I have noticed, (and its a small thing) At least the wind is not blowing the shirts off the ballplayers. Last year it seemed like every game was being played in gale force winds!
