If true, this would explain why I can't complete double plays properly, and why I'm getting random lob throws despite holding the throw button down.
I'd like to hear more about this, too. I guess the throw meter is why you can't charge up a throw...at least I can't in the demo. If that is the case, I suppose I'll just need to get used to the fact and be more attentive when making throws (especially double plays and cutoffs).

I'm only interested in whether this is a solid game, objectively speaking.

The fielding range could be an issue, but I didn't notice it too much. I think the hitting and pitching is vastly improved.

I find the lob throws to happen when i use the buttons to throw, when using the right stick it is pretty much a non issue for me. When you use the buttons sometimes it doesn't respond right away and then you let go of the button hence the lob throw. The meter is tied into throwing speed. This is why i just use the right stick to throw

Joe, I have asked this question to others but no answer so if you could just answer one question i have that would be great.

In franchise mode when you trade, call up, etc. a player does his jersey number change automatically if someone on the team already has that number taking care of the problem with multiple players having the same jersey number?

As for Hitting Sliders I'm still tweaking.

jeffy, I can see myself playing this game for the baseball season until 2k10 hits.
These sliders were much better. The AI threw 106 pitches, 36 were balls and I swang at a lot of others out of the zone.

Id love to see your AI hitting sliders cause i dropped everything to zero and had no success striking them out.

I took the plunge tonight and picked the game up at midnight and have put in a few hours since then.

I have to say I like it overall. There are a few kinks here and there, but there is a lot of good. The hit variety is the best I've seen in a 2K game. Played a game online and it's WAY smoother than last year.

If they can just fix a few things, especially the AI batting aggression, I will be happy with this game.
