    AARRGHHH!!

Just picked up the game and the disk won't read. It's the only XBox game I have but I put in a DVD and it read fine. It will say "reading" and then say "Open Tray"

How much has the xbox 360 been used? Your drive or laser may be dying. Since you don't have any other 360 games to try, hard to say.

But anyway hold the disc up to a strong light at various angles and look for scratches or damage. You could try cleaning the disc but I would just see if you can exchange it for another copy, claiming its defective.

Don't fret! Just keep popping it in until it works! My 360's disc drive is very fickle too. It usually detects game discs as DVD discs, and I have to repeatedly open/close the tray.

I sometimes pull out the tray, hoping the realign it with the slot.

I had this problem with many games and many others would work just fine, I had to end up trading my xbox in for a new one. I lost out on $100 but hey I had my xbox for 3 1/2 years without many problems.

Well I just put in a DVD and it quit working. I don't use it very often. Mainly it's used as my DVD player when i don't want to use my computer.

If they try and charge me to get it repaired...they can stick it up their butts and when i get a little more cash I'll switch to a PS3.

I've had this 360 for about 2 years never a problem (bought it new on E-bay for about $120 in an auction)...not even the Red Ring fiasco that many people suffered.

I barely play it except for DVD's every once in a while.

How come you haven't played it much. Tonnes of games on the 360...alot of really good ones, too!
BTW, my drive went one day, too. MS did cover the cost to repair, so you might want to check on that before spending money on a new console.

I don't have the time to play a ton man. I mainly play sports games and GTA...but for the most part I do other things. I'm almost 30...it's pretty much just a "kill some time" thing for me.

I sent an e-mail to them...so hoping they respond.

I'd hate to have to get angry if they try to charge me the cost of repair of the drive because I like the 360...but I also want something that works. My nephew has a PS3 and hasn't had a single problem with it

They will always repair or send you a new one if you have a red ring of death error....google RROD and get creative:wink:

problem is they have said if you don't have it when they test it...they will charge you. Says so on their website...and I don't have the funds to pay for a repair (I had a $50 giftcard from Gamestop that I just used to get the game today)

My last xbox 360 kept freezing up, don't think it had anything to do with the dvd drive since it happened during demos off the hard drive too. It only produced a rrod once and a while after it froze up, was hard to reproduce. In any case, I sent it in, I doubt they saw the rrod during testing but they repaired it anyway. May be worth a shot.

But if they want to charge you, you don't have to pay if you don't want the broken system back...and why would you in this condition.
