    Re: MLB 2K9 Controls/Options Thread.

When signed into XBL, you can go into options and set the line-ups of any team you want. that way, when you play a game you will already have your line-up set. You need to set all four, RH, RHwDH, LH, and LHwDH.

You can also set your pitching rotation. Your number one will be the starter when you play random games.

Make sure you thoroughly check you line-ups! 2K is wonky, and sometimes it comensates by making weird adjustments. I was moving LF Skip Schumaker to 2B, as he is now rated there as of today's update. The Cards are moving him there this year.

Well, the game really didn't like that at all. For some reason, it then move C Yadier Molina to SS and there was a cascade of wrong positions. I went in and corrected them, but when I played my game to day, Yadier was still at SS. I corrected it in game.

I then went back and corrected it once more in the menus. When I played my second game, everything was as it should be.

Haven't figured out how to do this during the game either.

How about switching fielders in the middle of a play? I didn't see that listed on the controller setup menu.

Hit "A", and it will switch to the closest fielder.

            Bonus tip:
Hitting "A" while running the bases will toggle to your other baserunners so that you can control them separately. Using the LB and RB will move them all together.

I don't think they made it easy. You can go into game stats and find the pitchers pitch count there, however.

There are several things missing in this year's version that really makes it clear that 2K8 really did do a lot of things right.

if I remember correctly(at least for the pc), it's left on the d-pad where you get the stamina, composure ,count etc

How do you view the cpu's lineup in game? i want to be able to warm up a lefty if they have lefty hitters coming up to bat, but can't see where to do this.

If you bring in a pinch hitter for the pitcher, and then the next 1/2 inning you want to keep him in, you can. You replace the pitcher with the player you want to take out(who the first pinch hitter is replacing on the field). Then in the IN GAME defensive subs, you can swap in the player you brought into pitch and put him on the mound. You can't do this from the PAUSE menu, it has to be in the IN GAME menu that you get to with the d-pad down.
Thanks for this tip. I knew I did this the other day and couldn't remember how.

It only gives you any information if you have bought the Inside Edge Report for the team.

You can view the CPU's number of pitches anytime. Just go to the Boxscore, press the RB button to get to the Game Summary screen, and you'll see the CPU's pitcher's name along with Pitches-Thrown for strikes.

purchase an inside edge for the team you are playing. before a game, go to the gm screen then purchase a team inside edge report.

during the game use the dpad to access the batters info, hot zones, cold zones, etc.

right now i've just been playing exhibition games. i thought inside edge was enabled for all players in exhibiton. i see their zones and their miss %, i just want to see their actual lineup to see how many lefties or righties are coming up, so that i can warm up the right type of pitcher in my pen.

i know i can pause the game and go to the box score to see their lineup, i was just wondering if there was a way to do it w/out having to go through all of that.

2K let out that ability, which is mind boggling. How did they play games and not be bothered by that? If you are playing online, at least you can ask your opponent to show you his lineup.
