    Have you started your franchise?

Just wondering if you guys have started your franchise yet?

Or are you like me and are gonna wait until all this editing/patch #2 mess gets all settled first?

Re: Have you started your franchise?

I'm waiting of a hopeful PC patch to fix the FA issues that were fixed in the console versions. Rosters don't bother me, as I like them a little behind, to have an opportunity to sign some free agents. That's something that irks me about every franchise mode in any game. Wish they would start the previous off season, and not opening day of the current year. But anyways...

Outside of that, I do look forward to the franchise mode in this game. The stat engine seems to be something they got right, and they keep a lot of stats. Also things like the headlines to follow other teams easier, and the power rankings, it should be pretty decent.

Yeah, starting tonight (Dodgers.) Won't be my serious franchise though. I use the Angels and try to play every game of the year, starting opening day.

I started my Pirates franchise but, I'm not taking it too seriously, just getting a feel for things. I had to recreate Andrew McCutchen, Pedro Alvarez, Jose Tabata and a bunch of prospects at AA and AAA though.

I started with the Cardinals and lost my first three games to the Pirates. Currently in the 4th game of the series tied 3-3 in 11th. Are the Pirates really this good

I am a huge fan of the Cubs but hate Soriano. I play to trade him for a top prospect. One of my pet peeves is having a player on my roster without their real life photo in the game. Last year it didn't bother me as much because they had those "animated fake" pics. But this year? It looks SO ugly having one of those blank pics in your lineup.

I am targeting Travis Snider on the Jays. He is a top OF prospect and has his pic in the game!

That's who I'll end up taking. I won't go though and make any of the prospects though. If I get some roster set that has them it would be ok though.

No, I'm waiting for a fix for the AI Batter Aggression first.

In the meantime, I've been playing online and having a good time.

They could actually surprise some people this year if their pitching pans out IMO.

Re: Have you started your franchise?

Just finished my rosters tonight, I create the top 3 prospects in the minors for each team and go beyond if there are good ones like the Rangers/Braves/Indians. If they have the prospect there already, I change the name and ratings to match accordingly to how I feel.

I officially saved my roster and starting a Franchise tomorrow morning. I had to recreate a lot of players because I had the Living Rosters on and they screwed me up. I'm gonna start with this one pretty serious and if it starts to get annoying, I'll put it down until the patch comes out. I try to get two seasons done in the time of the real baseball season, thats always my goal.

I'm going to be playing with the Indians and hope for Hafner and Martinez have good comebacks...if not, I expect a call-up for LaPorta and possibly some trades for other prospects. It actually baffled me that Adam Miller isn't in this game, seeing he was in last year's game.

What settings do people you guys usually play with? In 2K7, I played 123 game seasons and stats came out pretty realistic...but I doubt 104 would be suffice. I'll be playing on All Star and make slider adjustments as I go...
                    The Buckeyes WILL prevail!

I started on All-Star and found myself turning down the contact, hit success and hit power for the user. Hit power of 70 by default is just insane for "All-Star". I put contact at 40, success at 45 and hit power at 50 which is what it is on Legend by default.

they need pen help. I lost three games because of them blowing games. It made me tempted to cheese and start putting in starters for relief in exhibition games.

They do need Pen help and in my opinion Matt Capps should not be their everyday closer. He's more fit for a setup role. Grabow has always been a little shaky but, Tyler Yates looked good last year. I think Phil Dumatrait will be a nice fit in that pen if he can stay healthy along with Sean Burnett. If I had my way Craig Hansen would be their closer for the future as long as he can tame his control issues.

The biggest issue with the Pirates pitching is everyone is really young with the exception of Grabow, Capps and Yates so with more experience they should improve.

Snider, is indeed an up and coming MLB all-star,
However, Ive played 13 2k9 games with the Jays, and Ive yet to even get on base with Snider. It appears hes not quite the phenom that he should be in 2k9.

Ill try to pitch against him and see if he belts one out of the park.
