    Re: patch # 2 announced

    From Ron:

Generally, you don't have to start your franchise over. However, it sounds like the day one update helped keep people from freezing, but only on franchises post patch. My guess is that it will be help an already created franchise though.

So i guess u dont have to restart franchise after all not like i started mine anyway

I started my St Louis Cardinals franchise already, but I'm only 8 games in so I don't have a problem starting over. Pujols is smoking the league so far already with 2 HR and 12 RBI and a lofty .500 BA, though! This is great news about the 2nd patch. Thanks to the OP for passing the info along.

well, i tried to tell people they confirmed it with me last week, but no one wants to listen. lol As soon as they seen Big Joe's thread about IE being broken, i was told, they are already working on that and trying to fix it asap.

But what do i know, its not like i have direct contact with them or anything. lol

Well, it certainly doesn't help that other moderators at 2K were saying that there was "no confirmation or solid info that a patch is even being worked on" and then locking every thread that asked about the patch. Are we supposed to take your word for truth and not theirs? And from what I read of your posts, you said you were "pretty sure" they were working on it, but not any 100% guarantee. And I'm not trying to be disrespectful to you, but it would've meant a lot more to hear an official word from 2K last week instead of rumors from you.

As soon as the game came out and problems started popping up and negative reviews came out ripping the game, 2K shoud've gotten on the ball and released some public statements saying they were sorry for releasing a buggy game and they were working very hard to remedy the issues. But instead, we heard nothing for over a week.....

Sadly, when it comes to 2K, we don't know who we are supposed to trust. We were promised last year by 2K that we were going to get another patch to fix the online lag and other problems, and it NEVER happened.

I know things are supposed to be different this year, but only time will tell. So far, they are off to a terrible start. If 2K wanted to keep it's customers happy, they would focus much more on Public Relations and communicating with us, but it seems they just never learn from their past mistakes.

I still have some hope for 2K9, but I'm certainly not going to get too hopeful until things actually do get better. Apparently their communication skills haven't improved. I haven't given up on the developer's skills yet......I really hope they can bring this game to a better state of quality, but I just can't bring myself to be very optimistic about it (which is sad because I was really looking forward to it)........it needs a LOT of work.

Until then, The Show on PS2 is keeping me happy. Kind of sad that I'm getting more enjoyment out of a game on a last gen system, but if that's what it takes, so be it.

Ironic this gets posted the day I put 2K up for sale on eBay and am purchasing a PS3 tomorrow.

                Oh well.

If they can fix the AI batting aggressiveness, I could see myself spending some quality offline time with this game... and if they could make it possible to edit stances/deliveries/etc, I would be in heaven!

Great news for those of you that had a problem with this. I myself didn't see it as a problem but anything to improve the game play is fine with me.

I agree, but as a company you can't go announcing to the public that your game is broken the first two weeks of its release.

I'm glad the patch is coming but in no wway will I anticipate anything big.
Being kind, one to another, never disappoints.

I hear what you are saying, but I thought Ron and kc over here stated that they were working on a patch. Even bigjoe a few days later said he was reassured via pm that a patch was working on the situation. I don't visit 2k forums, so , therefore I don't get into the drama of mods locking another thread or no solid information.

I just got the game a week ago yesterday, I would think 2k has to pour over all the information and then make decisions what get's patched and what doesn't get patched and how do we go about making the patch work. Do you want them to rush to decisions and rush a patch hurriedly that could break another part of the game or do you want 2k to make things right with a good patch and one that freeze your system once you dl the patch?

And no company is going to come out and state "we made a buggy game, sorry, here's what we are doing to fix the issues."

That is a terrible marketing ploy. The Us you are referring to is a small percentage of the actual buyers for baseball games. Not everyone that purchases 2k goes onto web sites.

I suspect it took so long to get confirmation about a patch because, on some level, developers had to figure out if the batting aggressiveness was something that could be fixed quickly.

Regardless, I'm thrilled. I like the game right now as is. This fix will just make it all the more enjoyable.

First of all, unless I'm mistaken, Ron never posts here so he never announced anything here. And rumors are fine, but they're just rumors. I usually don't trust much when it comes to 2K unless I hear it straight from the horses mouth, and even then I've learned to be cautious after the empty promises they made with 2K8 patches.

No, I don't want them to rush a patch out. That's not what I said. What would have been nice is if they would have at least told us officially last week that they value our concerns and are planning to release another patch. When your game is averaging something such as a 6 in the reviews, you really should let your customers know right away that you plan to improve it. That would be a good marketing move because people who were unsure after reading the reviews would at least be willing to give the game a chance if they heard that 2K was willing to right the wrongs.

But after last year, I've seen what we can expect from 2K in terms of PR and patches, and it isn't much, unfortunately. It could be so much better than it is, but oh well. Unfortunately I made the mistake of buying 2K9 on day 1 (it's my one fault, I know). But at least I have one good game to play right now until the patch (The Show). Next year, no matter how great 2K10 looks in the videos and demo, I'll wait to buy it till after it gets patched a couple times, if I even buy it at all. I'm pretty burnt on 2K games at the moment, which is too bad because I used to be a big fan of 2K7 (as I've said on here many times).

Anyway, no sense complaining about it any more. I've finally come to terms with 2K's ways and am not going to let them get me down any more. Maybe they'll surprise me in the 2K9 patch. I'll wait and see, but my optimism is low, and that's rare for me.
