There have been at least 5 updates to the Living Rosters (perhaps more). You can see what was in each update here:

That is really cool. The roster additions were a given, but the uniform changes and schedule fixes are a neat bonus. I thought I heard an issue regarding Cubs playing primarily night games in franchise, am I to assume that would be fixed now? Plus, it was nice to read a definitive explaination (rather than educated speculation) as to why certain players have not been included yet or have the incorrect skin tone.

I severely miss that ol' ability to edit players with reckless abandon, but it's an alright consolation prize to have 2K pumping out consistent updates.

Me too. I'm seeing some really great hit variety since the last update.

Same here. I think Visual Concepts is doing more than just changing where players are; I'm pretty sure it is doing some stealth gameplay tweaks.

It was nice to see that the guy who should be Kevin Millar is finally white. If they bust out with further accuracy with even the guys in AAA who are unnamed, that'd be great.

Just save your roster with a new name, and use it for your exhibition games. Then it will not be affected by the living roster updates. Then, when the season starts, and Colby is on the team (I hope), start using the new one.

I agree the the living rosters are kind of a pain in this regard. It resets all of your line-ups as well. It's nice that Schumaker has been rated for 2B, which happened pretty early on, but I tire of having to adjust the line-up every frakkin' time.

Alright....now when will 2k allow us to put the pitcher in the eighth spot?

I'm seeing it as well. Played a game yesterday, threw a 3 hit shut out with Lincecum. I won 6-0 with 8 hits. I walked 1 guy, walked 3 times by the CPU. I struck out 7 guys, and I struck out 3 times.

One error, that was the CPU bobbling a grounder to 3rd. Seems like one of the better games I've had in a baseball game in a long, long time.

I was going to start a thread about this but I will just add it here. It's probably better since I really can't prove it BUT....

I swear, I think they have done something about the AI hitting aggression. I didn't start my franchise till this weekend with the newest roster update and in my 1st game against the Marlins I was getting some long pitch counts.

I mean I could really tell a difference between this one franchise game and the other 10 or so exhibition games I've played. The game took atleast a good 15 mins longer than usual exhibition games I've played.

Maybe this was just a coincedence? Has anyone else noticed this?

I'll add to this. I Dl'd the new Rosters and fired up a game with my hometowon Rochester Red Wings taking on the Buffalo Bisons. I actually liked the non-announcer game, and some of the sounds and ambiance in the background were pretty cool.

Anyway, maybe this is because it was the AAA guys, but I saw a LOT more called strikes, and and three occasions with Boof Bonser on the mound, he struck out Bisons on three consecutive pitches. All called strikes.

In fact, I saw a lot more first strikes called then before, but I cannot attribute it to whether there was any tweaking done, or if I am just pitching to the game as I have before, and have the pattern of how to throw the ball down.

I flubbed a few pitches by not realizing the guy didn't have a 4 seamer in his arsenal and floated a terrible curveball over the heart of the plate, which amazingly enough, the batter took for a strike.

Again, I cannot confirm any difference because the only game I have played since the update was a Triple A game, but it sure seems like those guys were a bit less aggressive at the plate.

btw, took a 4-4 game into the top of the ninth, and my closer promptly gave up 4 runs. I also saw the first dead-center HR by the cpu, and it was an absolute bomb. Nice to see that happen, as 2k8 rarely if ever had HR's to center straightaway.

I'm glad I'm not the only person seeing it.

I finally started my franchise last night. I won my first game against the Rays, 2-1. Beckett pitched 8 innings, 6 K's, 1 BB and 4 hits. I saw some great hit variety and a couple fielding animations I never saw before.

Things got really interesting during my second game. Matsuzaka got shelled; 5 2/3 innings, 6 runs, 2 K's, 2 BB. Everytime I tried throwing a curve to get ahead of a hitter, it was smoked. That would not have hapened two weeks ago, I'm convinced of it.

I'm pretty sure Visual Concepts is doing more than moving players during roster updates. Or, we're all playing enough games where our VIP Profiles are starting to have a more subtle impact on gameplay.

do u have to load the living rosters or are those just the default ones that u start a game with if u dont load any custom ones?

If Living Rosters are turned on, they automatically load when you turn on a game.

Yeah I think they have tweaked something because I have seen a few looking K's and the game just flows smoother.

Excited for the patch, has potential to turn this game into something special. Regardless of what people say, with the patch with a few fixes, this game could be a solid 8 or so.

Well, I just dusted off my copy of 2K9 and downloaded the latest roster. Yes, the hit variety does seem to be improved perhaps.

However, I just hit one off the wall and saw the bug where the CPU runs into the wall and can't pick up the ball. First time I've seen that one myself (although I have seen videos of it)......

Also, still way too easy to pick off runners. I can pick a guy off of 2nd with my eyes closed every single time.

And the CPU is still hacking at almost everything

Still hoping the patch rescues this game because it does have a lot of potential.

I hope the patch fixes CPU fielders running into the wall and the ball bounces off of it. I have yet to see one nice catch at the wall.

However, these updates are improving the basics.
