Dont jump up and buy 2k9 just because you hear the new patch is great! 2k may fix some issues but others can not be fixed. If small things like a player has the wrong skin color get to you..Skip this game. I have it and I must say I am kinda rating it a 6.5 out of 10. If the new patch stops the franchise freezes and AI Pitching and hitting issues, Ill give it a 9 easy

Re: Why I am leaning to 2K9
The glitches, frame rate issues, and a few of the bugs are just unbearable. Things such as players sinking into the ground or running through the crowd are just too much.Comment

Re: Why I am leaning to 2K9
there arent any frame rate issues, and the player sinking into the groun, I havent experienced that. I have the PC verssion, but I heard that there isn a differnce.
The only bug Ive experienced is the injury/dl bug.
Ive run into the outfielders not hustling and standing still maybe once in about 20 games.
The first base issue only happens once in a a while and it only happens on off balance throws, rushed throws or mistimed throws.
sometimes the player running to second doesnt hustle during double play balls.
THE AI is aggressive when pitching and batting.
these are the issues taht are being fixedm which like Ive said before havent noticed.
Again the show is an excellent game but 2k9 IMO can close the gap if the patches fix the issues.Comment

Re: Why I am leaning to 2K9
what makes the show better than 2k9 is they have less issues with major bugs.
and personally some of the bugs folks complain about arent bugs at all. IMO, The first base issue isnt really a bug. its all about timing, not rushing a throw, and not throwing off balance.
both games have there strong points.
I think the gap between 2k and The Show would have narrowed if they released the game with less bugs.
2k is actually a nice game, the overall score may increas by 2 points after the patch.
what I dislike about the show is that alot of the action and situations seem to be hard coded. I dont like the fixed animations on certain plays.
what I do like about the show is that its easier to tell strikes from balls, whcih makes the pitch count more realistic.
What I like about 2k is that the game overall seems to be more free flowing, less scripted on certain plays. the play by play, absolutely love it, the atmosphere.
I do find myself playing 2k more and more. But again, over all THE SHOW is a slightly better game. Ill play both.
in other sports titles its usually 1 or the other for me.
PJV31, you took the words right out my mouth. "organic" is a much better word. cosigned everything you said
I do however, want to play it post patch 2. I am waiting on more impressions though. I would give the game pre-patch a 6. If people are saying its an 8 or higher post patch I will pick it up again for sure.Comment

At this point, there is no closing the gap. The Show this year is that much better. Next year it may be a different story.Comment

Re: Why I am leaning to 2K9
No, i have MLB2K9 on both consoles. I recently got the SF4, Killzone 2 and i still frequently play NBA2K9 and APF2K8. Its just to many games. I still need to pass Tomb Raider: Underworld as well. I been slacking on it. lolComment

Re: Why I am leaning to 2K9
I have The Show on a PSP and 2K on my 360 of course, but I always figured the load times I was experiencing in The Show was because it was the PSP version. So the PS3 version has just as long of load times? If so that must really suck. Not enough to make me not want to play the game. I actually wish I could play the main version of The Show, just not enough to buy a PS3 just for that game though. Maybe things will change if they reduce the price of it again, but not sure. Either way that is pretty sad that their load times are so bad. I wonder why that is.Comment

Sorry you dont approve. If you read my post I never say 2k is technically a better game. I said its more "alive" and fun to play.
The fact that you actually believe 100% of human beings on the face of the Earth MUST love the show kinda makes you the kool aid drinker dont it?Chicago Cubs

Re: Why I am leaning to 2K9
That is because your time spent with 2K9 has been at the Best Buy kiosk and watching you tube videos. Seems like your only purpose in this thread is prove to others how superior MLB the show is, maybe it is just you.Comment

Re: Why I am leaning to 2K9
What are you talking about? Honestly, I couldn't care less about who does and doesn't love The Show. My issue isn't with the The Show, it's with how poorly constructed 2K9 is. Nobody can sit in here and act as if 2K9 isn't full of issues and is isn't a sub par product. That'd be like my trying to convince people that Madden hasn't been sub par in recent years. Am I going to bash you if you like that game? No, but I don't see how someone can honestly say 2K9 is more "fun" than The Show. The titles aren't even in the same league.Comment

Re: Why I am leaning to 2K9
I personally think it's silly to sit there and spend all your time complaining about a game over and over. But to each their own. But imo 2k isn't paying you to do their job man. If that's the way you want to spend your life so be it though lol. Especially over a video game which is meant to be enjoyed. You spent $60 so now you are going to compound the issue by spending more time complaining about it? So now you've spent $60 and wasted a lot of time complaining over a video game that you bought for fun right? Just my two cents but 2k would have to pay me to do that. Plus I really don't think this game is that bad. It's a good game imo. It does some things very well and some other things not so much.Last edited by kGinGreen; 04-03-2009, 12:58 AM.Comment

Re: Why I am leaning to 2K9
And yes to the person who closed the thread it does get lost! It has gone off topic. Information such as playing th post season even if your team is out is important and fun for some....maybe not to the post closer, but to others...with that here is my part 2
I didn't want this info lost in a large number of replys. I may change my mind. First I owe one of the replyers an apology. You can assume control of the other teams in the post season. It took my 8 year old to show me (I was looking at my Met schdule). So that now makes me rethink.
Sp to control 30 teams. While you can't do that without shutting off injuries I can set up force trade and at least take care of the major trades between other teams.
The patch for me has not fixed the thing I can get past. No matter where I set the sliders my starters throw 9 innings and 3 homeruns after 20 games....not realistic.
I will now play a few Show games and see. Wish I could import different announcers
