There's no other way to put-it. From having the BEST Fielding game in Video Baseball, we now have probably the WORST EVER...

Not being able to control my players manually they I want to is really irking the crap-out of me. I cant believe they messed this part of the game up so bad.. Outfielders run in 1-direction & when you try to make them go in another direction they start acting all weird.

Infielders are even worse. They don't charge the ball, when you try to manually force them to charge they either stay stuck in their position, or take their sweet time charging..

Yea I do not like that. We can adjust sliders around trying to make the game more realistic but we will always have this. It seems there is nothing we can do. I have twice as many errors than any other team.

Fielding is absolutely horrible in this game. It is so frustrating for them to go in slow motion as they charge a ball or race to catch it. It would be one thing if the computer had the similar motion, but they don't. It pisses me off to see them zoom through the outfield to make highlight reel catches.

Wait, you think it was the BEST fielding game before the patch? That's quite a stretch. It was OK, but not the best. There were some serious WTF moments before the patch, but now they've messed it up in other ways. Go figure.

Ahhh, that makes more sense. Yeah, the fielding was better overall in the past games. Slowdowns were terrible in previous 2K games as well, but yet it was still easier to control.

Fielding felt totally fine in 2K8 for me, also the pitcher/batter battle could be tuned to recreate realistic pitch counts and player behaviour. I would of loved 2K9 if they had just taken last years game, fixed the frame rate, introduced the new presentation, tuned the pitching and swing stick and overhauled the franchise mode. But instead we get very border line broken game. I'm not saying I haven't had fun with 2K9 but after a few weeks some of the glaring issues that are still there are really starting to grate.

I know there is a great game in there somewhere but its buried under some pretty huge problems. Which is exactly the way I felt about last years game. Maybe next year guys....

The throw meter was much better last year too. It did a good job of affecting the accuracy and height of your throw. This year, the meter just feels kind of like a cheap gimmick.

the spotty fielding has something to do with the controlling of a player.

it seems as though when there are 3 players around a ball the auto control of a player gets hung up. a better word would be confused.

I dont know if this has something to with auto fielding/manual fielding being broken.

I do find that if you cycle through the players around the ball, will give you better fielding results, but this also varies pending on how hard a ball is hit.

the playing field also seems to have dead zones. if a ball lands in that spot a player will be very slow to react or not react at all. its as if the players have a zone hard coded in the game. a ball lands in between those zones players stand still.

Ive also noticed that when fielding the players all seem to be mirrored, like the fans in the stands. they all react the same way, just like the fans in the stands. this leads me to wonder if the code used for mirroring of the fans is affecting the fielding.

Hey Joe- I hear ya my man. This is IMO one of the worst baseball games we have had in a while. That is a shame too because they used to make a great game back on the old gen xbox. They have yet to put out a really good playing baseball game on the 360. I dont understand.

If you read any of my other posts regarding me renting a PS3 & giving the Show a shot- wow, I was impressed! Now going back to play 2k9 seems even more horrible than it was! I should have never rented it! haha It feels like you are throwing a softball and looking and last Gen graphics, as far as color and detail goes and the jerky animmations really shine threw once you have played the Show and go back to this. Definately a bummer! lol

Many decisions made to this game are head scratchers. They fixed some of the stuff that was broken and broke some of the stuff that was fine.

whats funny is how, after I played the demo, I immediately said fielding was horrible, and I was completely flamed. I also notice the 2k police have gone into hiding, i cant remember some of their names, but they were all up in my business pre release. man, im glad I didnt buy this game.

Joe...I agree, but I must ask...With it being out for so long now, you're just no complaining about the fielding lol?

The meter is bad, and I don't feel a throw that is right smack dab in the middle of the green have any more velocity than any other throw in or out of the green. All the meter seems to determine is the accuracy.

The quick throw is just horrible, and becomes unresponive at the most inoppurtune times.

One time had the CPU lay a bunt down that the C, P, and 1B charged. For whatever reason trying to switch in between them didn't work, and the pitcher got to first safely.

Thats the dead zone that I speak of. there are dead zones in the infield and outfield.
If a ball lands in that area between players forget about it.
and the reason this happens is because these players actions are all mirrored.
IF the players werent coded this way one of the players would react to the ball. but thats not the case, its as if they are all following the same code, which is what I call mirroring. I dont know if thats the correct term.

look at the outfield, the players all run to the ball the same way, same stride, same stop, and they turn around exactly at the same time.
so thats why they all stop. its lazy man coding. this type of coding was used in ATARI games. old sports game for the first sega console.

Im sure other sports titles use this, but it's so blatant in this game.

Im grasping at straws, but I bet thats what it is
