The future of MLB 2K and you?

Just wondering out loud if MLB 2K9, with all its problems and potential, has excited or depressed the community with regards to future MLB 2K editions?

This has to be the most frustrating game I've ever played in my 20+ years of gaming. I can forgive, as I've done in the past, 2K's very limited graphics, on the grounds that the gameplay makes up for it. But 2K9 is just unbearable.

The sad thing is that the potential of what this game could have been is obvious throughout, but so many of the bugs, glitches and lack of detail just kills this years edition. What's especially sad is that so many 2K9 ruiners have been part of past 2K MLBs. Collison detection, decent fielding, exhibition mode, etc.

I hate the rebuilding, what til next year mentality that us gamers often dealt, especially after spending $60, but, until some contractual miracle happens, the MLB 2K series is the only offering for the Xbox.

Is 2K9 a series killer as far as your consumer dollar or is there optimism that all isn't lost with this sereis after two back-to-back duds?

I gave up on 2K three years ago. The fact is they release broken, untested games. MLB 2K9 is just the latest example. So nothing's changed for me. I rent their games every year, expecting the worst. Plus I have a PS2 so I really don't care if 2K ever gets their baseball series straightened out. And I'll start buying their games again if and when they do.

I give it a shot every year. I like this year's version a lot. Hated 2K8's demo, didn't even bother to rent the game. But since all I have is a 360, 2K series is what I will be playing. Baseball games used to be my passion, but since it's down to 2 series, neither I'm in love with like I did MVP and ASB, I don't even play the games that long any more.

I'm encouraged. The strides from 2K8 to 2K9 made by the move to VC were for the most part positive and another year or two of VC being the studio will result in great strides forward for the franchise.

A lot of people keep blaming 2k, but this is VC's first year with the game. If VC can't do anything to help this game I don't think anyone can.

I expect next year's version to be a lot cleaner, and I think VC can do what Kush couldn't do with the game and make it worth the purchase every year.

That is true but, next year is a make or break year for me. If the game is not great I may move to PS3. I like this game and see so much potential but, that will only go so far.

The mods for MVP 2005 on the PC will keep me happy for awhile until 2K decides to make a baseball game worth a damn. It's a very good option if you have a computer that will run it with the mods that enhance it.

If 2K makes a better game (with full editing) then I certainly will buy in for the 360 as console games are nice to have. I'll trade the couch for the computer chair until they get their act together though.

I love 2k9 and will definitely buy next years version. Depressed? I have to say if someone is getting depressed about whether a video game is going to be bad then they really need some help. lol.

I agree wholeheartedly with the OP. This is a TERRIBLE, head-scratching baseball game (even post patch), and I'm so disappointed that I hope 2kSports goes completely under. And I mean that...that way the license will be free and a dev that knows what they're doing can get on board. I'm tired of paying $60 for a broken baseball game. It has to STOP!!! I will never buy another 2ksports title, period. Screw them. God knows they've screwed me about a half dozen times. (the worst thing about this whole deal is that I traded in 4 very decent games for MLB2k9.

And to those that are saying that VC should get a pass this year, NO NO NO!!! A developer should NEVER get a pass, not when they're charging you $60 for their broken games. If they would stand by their product and give me my money back, I might consider differently, but that isn't going to happen. Completely unacceptable.

                          I probably won't buy next year's release.

I'm having some fun with 2k9 but refuse to contribue any more money to lack of effort this game's developers are showing.

This year's graphics are mediocre at best. The game play mechanics are broken in so many areas. Far too many glitches. The limitations are nonsensical.

I won't go to the extent of buying a PS3 to play the Show but I will consider passing on any further baseball titles until there's an alternative to what 2k Sports has to offer.

2K9 is a fun game. I like it a lot, but they need to fix this year's franchise before I even consider getting 2k10, unless I start reading reviews that say it's on the level of MVP 05. I can't stand the fact the make a big deal about signature styles, and when one of your guys get hurt and you have to send him down to the minors, he comes back with a generic look and batting stance.

No point on blowing another 60 bucks on the mode you are going to spend the most time on if it's broken.

Yes, 2K9 has problems. It also does a lot right, and it does get me excited for the future of the series.

I'll be back next year, no doubt.
