Thing that DOES make me feel a little better is that if you look at League Leaders in Averages, you'll see me as #1 and #2, then there is like 5-6 guys, then there's me at #8 or whatever, then I got 2 more guys spread out in the next 5-10 players on the list. So it's not like I'm the ONLY one hitting like Dimaggio Re-incarnate

The only thing I'm leading the league in is strikeouts. Sosa,Patterson (before I sent himdown), Alou and Lowell (traded for him: Bobby Hill, Kyle Farnsworth and Alfonseca) are all leaders in that area. Lowell has caught on the Cub K parade, striking out 10 out of the last 14 ABs....

With pitchers like Clement, Wood and Prior, that's a realistic ERA.

I think you should be hitting better, but hey, Sosa's slumping in real life, you should be entitled to too... hehe

Good point, and the Cubs are not a feared team offensively in real life anyhow.

As for the ERA, its easy for me to get Ks and avoid throwing walks. I need to throw IBB to get walks in the game. Having Wood throw 61 strikeouts and 4 walks isn't realistic.

Yeah, like I said in an eariler post, this game is very "hit friendly". I think it gives up more singles to compensate for the lack of walks on both sides. For an arcade baseball game, I'm okay with them substituting singles for walks.

Yeah, I think I can count the number of unintentional walks I've committed in about 100 games on one hand... I had a previous franchise I got to about 50 games into as well.

I have been getting great results, using timed hitting, with the following sliders:

                              CPU Pitching - 100
                              CPU Throws Strikes - 5

                              CPU Hitting - 50
CPU Swings at Strikes - 70
CPU Swings at Balls - 70

                              Pitch Speed - Very Fast

                              Pitch Variability - Off

Having pitching variability off is the key to these sliders working. When variability is on (high, medium or low), both you and the CPU pitcher will throw several random meat pitches per game - which leads to way too many hits. The great thing about leaving variability off is that - while you can control your pitches, you and the computer won't throw ridiculous pitches right down the middle of the plate (which you can crush using timed hitting). And - with the CPU batting stats cranked up, it becomes a game of having to throw a decent mix of ballas and strikes - while avoiding hot and medium zones that the computer can crush (especially when you are fatigued). And - with the CPU pitching set at 100, he throws everything at the corners - which is very challenging to lay off and to swing through.

With these sliders, I am 32-30 with the Pirates. Giles is hitting .340 with 13 HRs. I threw a complete game 5-0 shutout against the Braves, and then came back and won 8-7 the next game. Most of my games have had 5-8 runs scored between the two teams (i.e. lots of 3-2, 4-3 games), which is very tense and challenging.
