Just curious why you think ASB AI is better than WSB? Do you see the AI play the righty lefty percentages? I also love ASB, but can't seem to get groundballs using classic cursor. Zone yields too many hits to center. Normal makes me feel like I'm compensating for the game's shortcomings. Trying real hard to love the game, but gameplay issues (baserunners not advancing, AI pickoff catcher throws never get my runner out unless I let the AI tag me, pinpoint pitching control, HRs on broken bats, etc.) make it hard. I'm not a big franchise fan. Only gameplay.

I agree. ASB does have those AI problems and those need to be address in next year's game. As for too many hits to center with Zone hitting you may want to use the right analog stick to aim which direction you want to hit. Just act like there's an invisible cursor (which there probably is). I think that the default swing will always aim to dead center, like in Normal hitting. I tilt the cursor down and away and if i get on top of a pitch i hit the ball on the ground, if i hit the ball square i hit liners, and if i get under one i hit a flyball/pop up.
More needs to be explained in the instruction manual. There is DEFINITELY some type of invisible cursor in Zone hitting. The problem is no one knows that you can try to hit it to leftfield or rightfield by using the joystick. I'm not saying there wont be any hits to center because those still exist probably a little more than any other field but u can reduce those hits just by tilting the joystick.

Re: WSB is So Real And Fun
What I do like about WSB2k3 is that knuckleballers especially struggle in the late innings. The more the batters see a pitcher, the harder it is to strike the guy out. This is also nice because I can throw 2 high curveballs for strikes, a fastball low, then a changeup really high, and the batter will think it's a curveball and swing below it.Comment

Re: WSB is So Real And Fun
baseball is about nuances and ASB has the most nuances.
i think there are AI issues with them all but being able to balk and a few other little details are in ASB that are not in WSB.
after your great question i realized some of my issues aren't completely AI items, more nuances.
ASB has had a few years to include those little details. If WSB were to include them it would blow the rest out of the water.
dont get me wrong, i am addicted to WSB. i am in my 4th season and playing close to two hundred games. i just miss the ability to do a few things in WSB that i can do in ASB.

Re: WSB is So Real And Fun
If Acclaim could figure out how to fix the pitching and batting system, so that it is physics-based, ASB would be the best. But, since I can't stand to (1) hit flyballs to center field every at bat, or (2) have to aim to hit ground balls, ASB sits on my shelf while I play WSB.
I think ASB will be the best next year, but this year, the game is almost unplayable for me.Quit making your stupid YouTube videos and start playing the game.Comment
