Re: This is a very good game, but...

I find the hitting and pitching too easy. I have a 360 and a PS3 and I am seriously considering getting this game for 360 instead of the show (which I have gotten the last two years). I have been consistently getting 5ish hits with at least 1 going for extra bases not to mention averaging over 1 walk per 3 inning demo.

As for pitching, I have yet to walk anyone, and I only give up a run about every 9 innings, whether it be with Bastardo or with Halladay. This kind of worries me.

I'm hoping that jumping up to all-star difficulty will solve these problems, because for some reason, even though a lot of things about this game don't match up with The Show (fielding animations, overall game polish, base running, etc..) the one area they have The Show beat is the Hitter vs Pitcher confrontation. It just feels more entertaining. The show tends to get dull after playing for a little while. It's a great game, but there is just something about it. This game has something I can't put my finger on...just a fun factor...take out all the complaining about graphics and animations and everything....there are just something about this game...that makes it FUN.

I prefer 2k's pitching system, but the Show's batting system (although I've only ever played the Show on the PSP, so I'm not sure if thats a good comparison). I really think both games are going to be good this year. But because I like button/zone hitting and can't stand timing only and the R stick, I bought a PS3 yesterday and will be getting the show. But honestly, I'm sure I would have been happy with 2K too in the long run. In the end it'll all just come down to everyones personal preferences, since both games should be good. It's a good year to be a baseball gamer.

True that. So glad there is competition again. No other sports titles have any. NHL is dominated by EA (thankfully they have been putting out a great product available on all systems for a few years now), Madden is licensed and sub-par, Golf only has one game. Even when the games are already great, competition only breeds success. It's awesome.

Am I the only one who loves this years batter cam? I have always struggled to read pitches but this year I am able to tell better than ever if a pitch is outside the zone.

I read that the power swing shrinks the timing zone so if you are using power then you are making it harder on yourself - risk v reward. The timing is more lenient when just trying to make contact, no matter what type of batter, so use that as your primary.
