    Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Man, everyone on my team has forgotten how to hit.

Game 1 vs. the Brewers- Don't remember a whole lot except what happened in the 8th inning. I was down 4-2 with a runner on and Geovany Soto up. He hits a deep bomb to center, I get out of my chair thinking I had tied the game up. Carlos Gomez robs it Lost the game 4-2

Game 2- Tie game bottom 9th, 2 all. Carlos Marmol can't keep it tied, Brewers win it 3-2.

Game 3- I'm winning 3-1 bottom 9th. Bring in Marmol to shut it down, it was a rocky inning but we came away with the win 3-2.

Game 1 vs the Nationals- This was a heartbreakier. I was up 6-3 in the 8th. Carlos Marmol was unavailiable so I decided to make Angel Guzman, my usual set up man, the closer for tonight. I brought in Samardzija in the 8th, he was able to get 1 out but also gave up 2 hits. I brought in John Grabow to get Adam Dunn out, and he was able to, but then he gave up a single to Josh Willingham to load the bases. I made a huge mistake to Pudge Rodriguez and he takes me deep for a go ahead grand slam. I wasn't able to score again, and the Nats win 7-6.

Game 2- Strasburg(whom I probably made way too good, but I just live with it) shut me down through 7. I was able to get to him in the 8th and I knocked him out of the game, and scored 2 runs. Down 4-2 in the 9th Aramis Ramirez got on, but Geovany Soto grounded into a double play the next pitch. Alfonso Soriano hits a solo homerun a couple pitches, and I lose the game 4-3.

Game 3- Pitchers duel. John Lannnan pitched 7 scoreless innings, Ted Lilly pitched 8 scoreless innings. Fast forward to the bottom of the 10th, first and third 1 out. Soriano hits a medium fly ball to the outfield and I figure I'll test Nyjer Morgans arm with Marlon Byrd. I barely get thrown out, and end up with nothing that inning. Now bottom of the 11th, Fukudome and Hill both ground out. I think I have no chance at scoring, but I pinch hit Andres Blanco for the pitcher. He gets a bloop hit to shallow right. Ryan Theriot also gets a base knock. Jeff Baker rips a line drive just past the shortstop for a single. Now there's bases loaded, 2 outs, and Marlon Byrd coming to the plate. 1-2 count, Randall Sanders throws a fastball up and in, Marlon Byrd is able to hit a line drive up the middle for the win.

Now I stand at 11-11, and the Cardinals are still on a roll at 16-5, I'm even behind the Pirates who are 11-10. Right Field is a black hole for me right now, but I think I may have found the answer. Fukudome is hitting around .220, and Xavier Nady isn't much better at .230. Jeff Baker has been on a tear this past week, he's hitting around .320, 3 doubles, 1 triple, and a homerun. He's only a 70 rating in right field, but I'll take it rather than automatic outs in the lineup. I do see Jermaine Dye sitting in free agency, and he looks pretty tempting, but with the money I have left I think I want to add a good bullpen arm because my bullpen is pretty bad.

Still have plenty of time to decide though, it's only the end of april. Coming up I have series against the D'backs, Pirates, and Reds. I think I should do pretty well against the Pirates and Reds, but that's what I thought going into the Nats series as well.

Love reading your updates on my beloved Cubbies, duke776. Sounds like you can't buy a win, just like those jokers in real-life. lol

I'm going to be running a Cubs' franchise once Opening Day rosters hit.

Keep charging forward man, and damn those Cardinals. lol

Ha, thanks man. They won't even let us win in the video games.

I'm just glad I don't have to play the Cardinals until mid-late may, after seeing what the Brewers have done to me and how hot the Cardinals are I really don't want a piece of them. Just gotta hope I can get lucky one of these days and get a winning streak going.

            Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

I decided to do a fantasy franchise with the Halos and this is my team:

            Lineup
CF: Michael Bourn / Cameron Maybin
            RF: Vlad Guerrero
            LF: Jack Cust
            C: Yadier Molina
            1B: Albert Pujols
            2B: David Eckstein
            3B: Casey McGehee
            SS: Orlando Cabrera
            DH: Jim Thome

            Pitchers
            1. Rich Harden
            2. Brandon Webb
            3. Aaron Cook
            4. David Price
            5. Chien-Ming Wang

            Bullpen
            CL: Mariano Rivera
            SU: Takashi Saito
            MR: Guillermo Moto
            MR: Angel Guzman
            LR: Tim Wakefield
            LR: Jose Contreras

I just played the first game of a four-game series against the Twins and ended up winning 1-0. Tim Lincecum was the opposing pitcher and he was dominant throughout the game. He had 19 strikeouts and only gave up 1 run through 9 innings. My only run was in the 4th inning off of an Albert Pujols bomb. Rich Harden had 8 strikeouts and did not allow a run in 8 innings. Mariano Rivera closed the game and struck out 2 batters in the process. This was a very fun game, it was a pitcher's duel right down to the end.

Next game in the series: Brandon Webb vs. Chris Carpenter

Wow, I had no idea that the Minnesota Twins drafted 2 Aces!

I just had my first offensive explosion of the season, as I pounded the Phillies 13-5. Carlos Beltran made his season debut going 4-6 with 2 doubles and 2 rbis, he will probably end up with more rbis than Jason Bay, despite giving him a one month head start. My lack of power is mind blowing, I had 20 hits in Citizens Bank Park and not one HR, 16 singles and 4 doubles.

                Keep the great updates coming!

I am currently 9-4 with the Phillies. I just got down sweeping the Marlins in Florida, but they made the games very intense. I won the 1st game of the series 4-2, with Kendrick pitching very well as my fifth starter. My offense is playing great, led by Polanco and getting on base and Utley knocking him home. The 2nd game was Halladay being a mad man and winning 5-1. He is so filthy in this game. The 3rd game of the series, Hamels got rocked, but I ended up coming back and winning 13-9. Hamels let in 7 runs, but the bullpen saved me as I chipped away at their lead.

I just lost the first game of my series with the Braves. I changed my sliders a little bit, and I lost 3-1 to Hudson and Jones hitting a 3 run bomb
                Dallas Cowboys
                Philadelphia Phillies
                Philadelphia Flyers
                UFC

Playing; NHL 13, MLB 2k13, WWE13, DMC, Tomb Raider

                  Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Been awhile since I updated. I've managed to get Philadelphia to a 19-7 record. However, that's only good enough for 2nd in the NL East. Somehow the Braves have managed a 20-6 record through April. They took 2 of 3 from me in our April series. I hope to win the upcoming May series which we play in Philly starting 7 May.

Been playing Lincecum and Cain starts w/ the Giants. Boy is it a challenge w/ that team. No offense, I continuously struggle to score runs. Edgar Renteria is hitting .198 after April. Pablo Sandoval is a beast though. Just can't seem to set the table for him that often though. For whatever reason, I think it may be the pitch meter setting I was using, I've found it challenging to pitch as Lincecum. In his first two starts he was 0-2 w/ an ERA in the 9s. I managed to throw an 8 inning gem w/ him only for Brian Wilson to blow a save, and then followed up my next outing w/ him w/a ND quality start.

I'm currently pitching w/ him @ FLA and he is up 2-1 in the B5th, having allowed 7 hits. Hopefully I can get his 1st win. The Giants need it too as they are 9-16 and surprisingly in last place in the West.

                    Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Hey guys, just wondering if anyone else is having problems with freezing in their franchise? Ive posted about it on gamefaqs, here, and 2ksports.com, and this issue doesnt seem to be as widespread as others. I had already started 3 franchises, and all would freeze during the first game of the regular season(I simmed spring training in all 3), somewhere between 1-4 innings in. I just started one, first one since I dled the patch this afternoon. I played almost a whole game of Spring Training with no issues(pretty sure it wouldnt have froze if I had kept playing...I was already well past where it normally freezes). So, I thought "great, the patch fixed this." I sim to Opening Day, get 4 innings in, and it freezes. I'm thinking it might have something to do with roster changes between Spring Training and Opening Day, but I have nothing to prove that, but it's the only thing I can come up with. Do you guys have any ideas? This is extremely aggravating. I love MLB Today and My Player, but Franchise is the reason Ive always bought baseball games.

                      Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Just finished up the D'backs series.

Game 1- Ryan Dempster, whenever I see him on the mound I hope our bats show up because he's doing terrible. He gave up 6 runs in 5 innings. Get this, I loaded the bases TWICE with NO OUTS!! I didn't score in either situation, I even got a runner to third with one out and couldn't score him. I went on to lose the game 7-0.

Game 2- Randy Wells pitched a good game. 7 innings, 3 runs. But my team couldn't get it going offensively once again. Lost this one 3-2.

Game 3- Tom Gorzellany pitched great, and my offense was awesome. Kosuke Fukudome got a start and he really took advantage of it. 2-4 a double, and 3 RBI's. Jeff Baker went deep in the 4th. I was up 7-2 in the 8th inning, and the diamondbacks mounted a rally. They were able to score 3 runs off of Esmalin Caridad. Now it was 7-5 top 9th and I brought Marmol in, I was worried. Luckily the good Marmol showed up today and he shut the door for the save. I won 7-5.

Game 4- With Big Z on the mound I was very confident, along with the offensive show we put on yesterday. The D'backs were only able to muster 2 runs the whole game, both coming before the 5th inning. Ian Kennedy held me hitless until the bottom of the 4th when Derek Lee went deep for the first time in 12 games(thank god, now I won't see that overlay and press as much). The very next batter, Aramis Ramirez followed it up with a homerun of his own. Fast forward to the bottom of the 6th the D'backs have a lefty on the mound, and A-Ram is up once again. He takes Victor Pectol deep to give us the lead 3-2. Bottom of the 7th the dude is still in there and we get a rally going and score 4 runs to put us ahead 7-2. We had 3 doubles in that inning, almost batted around. Bottom of the 8th Alfonso Soriano got robbed of a homerun because the basket at Wrigley has no collision detection and the ball warped through the basket into an outfielders glove. I won this game 7-2. Carlos Zambrano pitched a complete game 6 hitter, letting up 2 runs, and striking out 9.

My cubs team now stands at 13-13, 7 games back of the 20-6 Cardinals. I now have a 3 game series against the 2nd place Pirates(14-11), and I am hoping to take over 2nd place in this series. After that, I have a 3 game series against the reds, and then another 3 game series against the Marlins. I do not play the Cardinals until the end of the month, and hopefully by then they are in free fall().

I have some decisons to make fairly soon though. I plan on giving Ryan Dempster 2 or 3 more starts and re evaluating his spot in the rotation, possibly replacing him by Sean Marshall, Jeff Samardzija, or Noah Lowry who I signed to a minor league deal earlier this season. If he struglles I'll try and put him in the bullpen and hope he can strive there.

I'm about to off Xavier Nady, he's now hitting .170 with no homeruns. I really don't know who I'd replace him with though, maybe Jermaine Dye, but like I said in a previous post I'd like to use the money avaliable for a more reliable closer. I'll probably just send Nady down and bring up someone like Sam Fuld.

Also thinking about possibly sending down Andres Blanco, and relying on Mike Fontenot as the backup shortstop. Only problem with that is Fontenot is the everyday 2nd basemen, so it'll take some crafty manuvering so that they both aren't tired at the same time. He's also not that great at short. That way I can sign someone with a little more pop to come off the bench as a pinch hitter because that's something I'm lacking right now.

What do you guys have your AI contact and power sliders set on? I'm 20-5 right now in my Sox chise, for some reason I feel like thats unrealistic and it bothers me. (I no I'm weird like that ha) Through the 1st month I've been changing up the sliders but, right now the AI contact is at 70 and power 75. The other team gets plenty of hits, but they only seem to scored 2-3 runs a game. Maybe it's because I'm using Boston and their pitching is really good, so maybe I should be dominating and be 20-5.

I have the AI contact at 55 and power at 90. I give homeruns up at a realistic rate now, even at 85 cpu homeruns seemed few and far between but once I bumped it to 90 it seems just about right.

Since you mention pitching, your pitching sliders may be set too easy and therefore you're executing too many perfect pitches...?

Anyways, I have my contact at 50 and power at 100. I'd like to perhaps lower contact to 40/45 because I feel that I'm getting hit too often w/ SPs like Lincecum or Halladay, but then I pitch w/ Joe Blanton, Jose Contreras, or Matt Cain and hold a team to 5 or 6 hits through 8 or 9 innings.
