    Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Just finished my all star break. I am 52-36 with my Twins. And I recall pujols has 23-26 HRs. Morneau on my squad has 30 and like 80 rbis. Mauer has 21 hr. And thome with 13. I trail the white sox by 2 gms for the central it seems like they never lose.

I'm only 5 games into my Royals franchise. 2-3 so far, with one victory over the Tigers and one of the Red Sox. The Red Sox were a little upset with my victory and just slaughtered me 13-1 in the second game of the series. Clay Buchholz had a nice game going the distance while striking out 12.

3-6 as I finally put on an offensive show getting 22 hits and scoring 13 runs to defeat the Angles 13-4
        Gaming hard since 1988

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

          THANK GOD!!

Broke a 4 game losing steak!

Beat the Jays 8-2 to prevent the sweep. Obviously I was tired of losing as I preceded to win 7 in a row before getting beaten by the Yanks in a game I simulated. Will finish up the series with Beckett vs Pettite and Lester vs Joba.

            Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Just played a GREAT game against NYY before I go to sleep,

            Beckett vs Pettite.

I managed to get 13 or hits and score 2 runs. Anyway, I scratched out a run in the 2nd. 1-0. Fast forward to the 9th.

Top of the 9th Beckett has a Shutout through 8. Fly out by Cano 8.1. A-Rod steps to the plate. 1-3 on the day 2-seam Fastball high and in (yes, i know, stupid) well you can guess what happened. Tie game. Papelbon is know brought on to keep the damage under control. But of course its Papelbon who immediately gives up a double, only to get a ground out and fly out to bring us to the bottom of the 9th.

So bottom of the 9th Beltre, Camron, and Scutaro due up. Beltre grounds out. Cameron singles. Now, I loveeee to take big even huge leads. Planning on stealing 2nd I get a 4, yes 4, step lead (bad idea). Cameron gets picked off. "Sh*t". Now you would think I would keep Scutaro in and just take on extras. Nope Im tired and want to go to bed, I pinch hit Papi. I then realize its lefty vs lefty. Again, "sh*t". Pettite goes 3-0 gets a cutter across. On the 3-1 count. (if you get the drift) Papi hits a smash to DEAD center to walkoff. I knew I should have kept Beckett in to grab the win.
A-Roid gets Clutch Performer?! It really is a "hit or miss".

Albert has like 15 homeruns at the end of May for me. It's just different every franchise I guess.

Alright guys, check out my Braves now!

                Yunel Excobar SS
                Martin Prado 2B
                Chipper Jones 3B
                Brian McCann C
                Hideki Matsui LF
                Ryan Howard 1B
                Matt Diaz LF
                Nate McLouth CF
                Pitcher

My line up is just scary. I am surprised I was able to get Ryan Howard and then I also acquired Hideki! I also picked up Joe Blanton along with Howard.

                  Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Avoided a Minnesota sweep at home w/ the Phillies.

I know I've been all over the place, playing w/ all kinds of different teams since doing an all-30 franchise. So what I decided is to play the rest of June (2 and half weeks) w/ the Phils, play all of July w/ the O's, and all of August w/ the M's. Then decide who needs help come September.

Anyways, on to the games I got in today, started and finished a 3-game home series vs Minnesota. J.A. Happ pitched a marvelous rubber game. The difference in the 2 losses boiled down to starting pitching as I had the lead in both games, but starters Cole Hamels and Joe Blanton gave up 5 earned runs in each of their starts; Hamels in 6 innings and Blanton in 5 innings - Minny got 3 off of Joe w/ 2 outs in the 1st inning - that was frustrating. I'll not that Mike Cuddyer killed me during this series hitting 3 HRs. Joe Mauer also connected for his MLB leading 21st homer in game 2 of the series.

My Philly win to avoid the sweep was a 1-0 victory after losing 5-3 in 9 innings, and 6-5 in 14 innings -vs- Minnesota. The one run came on a Ryan Howard HR, his 17th (team leading) HR of the season. Happ finished throwing 7 strong innings, allowing 7 hits, 0 earned runs, 0 walks, and striking out 7; his ERA was lowered to 3.90 and record improved to 6-4.

Brad Lidge picked up his 17th save in 21 chances in the 1-0 victory.

Phillies are still chugging along in my franchise. They're battling the Yanks for the best record in the league w/ Philly currently at 43-26 and the Yankees at 45-24; all signs point to a 2009 World Series rematch.

Phillies have hit a rough patch as of late though, winning only 4 of their last 10 games and splitting a 4-gm series w/ SD, and losing 3-game series' to: FLA, BOS, NYY, and now MIN.

Minnesota, after taking 2 out of 3 from Philly, sits at 34-35 and are 4 games behind the 38-31 White Sox who boast Carlos Quentin's 20 HRs good for 2nd best in the league.

Next up is a 3-game set w/ the Tribe, who are 33-36. Carrasco vs Kendrick; Westbrook vs Halladay; and Carmona vs Hamels.

2 questions JBH: 1. Hows Halladay doing? Wins Losses Era SO's? and Are you suprised with Lidge blowing 4 SV's already?!

I think the cpu does blow a bit too many saves. But waay better than last year.

Halladay is in definite Cy Young contention. He's got a good record, wins are a little low given some games of poor run support, but his ERA is a sparkling 2.40. His K's are a little low, think he's on pace to finish 25-30 K's shy of 200, but his ERA/WHIP are very low. I'll post his official line tonight...

As for Brad Lidge, in the games I've used him he's been fine. However, for the Phillies I've mainly played only the Halladay starts up to late June in my franchise which equates to about 12 games, and started only 2 games for all my other Philadelphia SPs. So there's about 20 games I've played w/ Philly, and only a small amount of them ever called for Lidge's services; not too many save situations.

However, the CPU seems to struggle w/ Lidge as his ERA is in the 5's, but I've found I'm very dominant w/ him versus righties but lefties...well that's a whole different story. His slider, which is his best pitch, has soooo much break that it is hard to get it over to a lefty w/o either hitting the batter or being left fat over the plate.

I figure I'll try to work his ERA down and get some more work in with him, and if he's still struggling I'm going to go after Heath Bell at the deadline...

Glad to see hes doing good. It bothers me when a good pitcher pitches bad in a video game.

For example in my franchise Lincecum: 7 GP 35.2 IP 2-2 6.31 ERA 1.82 WHIP and 41 SO .325 BAA!! So hes not exactly "knocking the bats out of their hands".

                          Uh-Oh..
Just thought Id share this with you guys.

Remember last year the Yooooouuuk vs Porcello brawl?
Well Porcello takes the mound against Boston in his first start against them since the brawl @ Comerica Park, and in the top of the 1st on a 0-1 count he drills Ellsbury right in the back. Well, I believe that when the cpu beans you and there has been bad blood between the two teams, call me crazy but I think that the devs put some kind of memory in to the cpu and they intentionally hit you. lol

In the Yankees series me and the cpu went back in forth with HBP for the last two games.

Anyone else think the cpu may intentionally hit you on occasions, or am I just crazy?

Well, since my last update(which was 12 days ago), I've only been able to get in 11 games. Been very busy recently, working on the yard and not being at home a lot. Also, about half the time I spent with the game has been spent testing and tweaking some things.

The good news is that I was on an 11 game winning streak, which was great. It just came to an end tonight as I got demolished 11-2 behind the power of 2 HR's from Ryan Doumit. Gil Meche gave up 4 runs in 6 innings, and then when Esmilan Caridad stepped on the mound it got ugly. He gave up 5 runs without recording one out. Zach Duke pitched pretty good, going 7.2 innings allowing just 2 runs, but he did walk 5 and hit two batters.

Now I am 48-29, best record in the NL. It was sad to see the winning streak end, but I knew it couldn't last forever and am just glad I had it. I'm either two or three games up on the Cardinals now.

So here is Halladay's stats through 14 starts, 11 or 12 of which I pitched.

                              IPs: 108.0
                              Wins: 8

                              Ks: 81
                              BBs: 12

I pitched about 4 or 5 Lincecum starts and STRUGGLED. I mean I got the K's you'd expect, but the CPU got way too many hits against me, which resulted in way too many runs to resemble Lincecum-esque numbers.

I think you'll find that for nearly any pitcher his numbers are going to be inflated by seasons end. Stat generation for simmed games is not very good it seems. I've simmed a few full seasons with different rosters, and they all end up pretty close to the same. No team ERA's under 4, and huge HR numbers compared to the last 3 years in the MLB. Pretty disappointing really :\.
