    Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Completed a 3-game sweep of the White Sox, to recap:

    Gm1: 5-3 W
    Gm2: 6-4 W
    Gm3: 6-5 W

Game 3 was a good one. The offense started the same for the M's as it did in gm2, a first inning 2r HR from Adam Dunn, scoring Ichiro. Only, Alex Rios would knock a solo shot in the T2nd off Cliff Lee to cut the score to 2-1. Lee would pitch a scoreless/hitless third, but then run into trouble in the 4th. 3 White Sox runs would cross the plate as the first 3 hitters would all single, then Cliff Lee walked Alex Rios w/ the bases loaded to give CHI the tying run, AJ Pierzynski and Jayson Nix would both single to give CHI a 4-2 lead.

Lee would last till the 7th w/ 2 outs, one on, and Carlos Quentin coming up. Lee had allowed another Alex Rios solo-HR in the 6th so I wasn't about to pitch to Quentin. Lifted Lee for RHP Mark Lowe, and got Quentin to ground out to the pitcher.

M's rallied in the 7th scoring 2 runs to tie the game 5-5 thanks to a Franklin Gutierrez double scoring Josh Wilson from 2nd, and a Chone Figgins single scoring Gutierrez from 2nd.

In the 8th inning Adam Dunn would lead it off, but K for his 2nd K of the game, and in steps Joe Crede... Scott Linebrink got behind Crede, and I was sitting on the fastball and jacked a solo HR which put me up 6-5 and would be the deciding run in this one.

David Aardsma closed it out in the 9th for his 19th SV in 23 opps.

Crede finished 2-4 w/ an rbi 2B and solo-HR. He's gotten his batting avg up to .329 and 13 of his 23 hits are extra base hits. Good signing!

Looks like two great pickups, nice to see they are working so far.

Anyways, my cubbies dynasty has run into a little bit of a rough patch. 2nd game of the series against the astros I was losing 2-1 top 9 and Zambrano was still in pitching great. Then the game froze. This is the first time I've had the game freeze on anything other than the drafted position players. I replayed the game a few days later and lost it 9-1.

Final game of the series, I got down quickly 6-0. I made up the defecit and tied it. It was all for naught though, because my best friend who is leaving for bootcamp tomorrow called me up to hang out so that game went to waste too(I don't use the save and quit feature because last year it seemed to cause problems).

I think I finally have some time to get some games in though, it just sucks making up games you played most of already. I can't complain too much though, I've already played 90-100 games so what's one or two more.

Definitely. I've propelled Seattle into 2nd place in the AL West, about 3 games back from Texas. The only likely way they get in the postseason is by taking the division...Dunn and Crede + Figgins and Ichiro (at 1/2) are making a case for one of the more formiddable 1-4 bats in the league right now. Ichiro and Figgins are both in the top5 in SBs in the league; Figgins w/ 40 and Ichiro w/ 37.

My Phillies are in need of my services now though. Gonna have to start playing more games w/ them since the Braves are breathing down their neck, and are only 3 games out of 1st even though Philly is like 55-37. Injuries to Ibanez and Werth have H-U-R-T, and Cole Hamels has struggled in July...I'm looking at a deal w/ SD that could net me Hairston, Corriea, and maybe Heath Bell...

I'm about to try and swing a deal for ATL too...making them even better, so that they get a lefty starter (rotation is all righties). MIL has struggled w/ Prince Fielder pretty much done for the year, and I'm going to try and swing a deal for ATL to land lefty Doug Davis. Only issue is that ATL is grossly over-budget so trying to make it work is a pain. I found a deal that worked that also moved Rickie Weeks to ATL too...Still fine-tuning this deal, will be a deadline deal.

Yea...I got a random freeze once or twice too. One happened when I had a 2 or 3 hit gem w/ Halladay going, was up HUGE, and had like an inning and a half left to play.

What branch is your friend heading into? I don't use save/quit either, don't trust it...

I HATE playing games over though...I usually just sim those if I have to, and live w/ the results from that.

You seem like a busy man, trying to make some deadline deals. That would be great if you could get that Hariston/Correia/possible Bell deal for the Phillies. Two solid players, and if you add Bell a shutdown closer.

Yeah, I tend to also. But I can live with playing a game or two over, after that though I tend to just sim the games instead of replaying them.

            Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

I got in 3 games last night in my Reds season, results below.
            Game 1
            CIN 2 CLE 5
Really struggled in this one as I only had 6 total hits. CLE had 12 with 2 hrs.
            Game 2
            CIN 4 CLE 3
I scored 3 runs in the bottom of the 9th for the win. I was down to my last out with no one on and down 3-1. Rolen singled up the middle then Gomes hit a game tying 2 run hr.
I then pitch hit for Hanigan with Alonso and he hit a walk off HR.
            Game 3
            CIN 8 CLE 5
I was up 8-0 after 3 innings, Alonso got the start at 1b and hit 2 hrs in his 1st to at bats.
He is batting .435 with 10 hrs and 24 rbi's since being called up. I play him everywhere, LF, 1B, 3B doesnt matter he just keeps hitting.
CLE ended up getting 3 runs in the 8th and 2 in the 9th but I held on 8-5.
I am now 46-30 I believe, 3.5 games up on the Astros.

I am currently 4-1 in my Indians franchise right now and I am off to a good start. I took 2 of 3 from Chicago and I am about to sweep the Tigers at Comerica. Pitching for me seems a bit to easy. I dunno. I have pitch speed maxed out.

                Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Adam Dunn 1st inning 2 run home runs are becoming a prerequisite.

After Erik Bedard beamed Jacoby Ellsbury on a 2-2 pitch, and Victor Martinez singled him in from second for Boston to take a 1-0 lead after 1. Adam Dunn would send his 26th HR of the season into left-center off a Jon Lester fastball scoring Ichiro as well.

Score would remain 2-1 until Boston tied it in the 6th. However, in the B6th w/ one out, Adam Dunn would get a single, his 3rd hit of the game, Joe Crede would single, and Casey Kotchman would shoot liner between third and short to score Adam Dunn from 3rd. Seattle back up 3-2.

Despite allowing 8 hits over 7 innings, Erik Bedard was sharp, striking out 6, and pushed his ERA down from 6.00 to 5.74 (after allowing 2 ERs). Bedard would be lifted after 7, Brandon League pitched a scoreless/hitless 8th striking out 1, and Aardsma was brought in for the save w/ still only a 3-2 lead.

David Ortiz would single to lead off the 9th, and then get lifted for PR Dustin Pedroia. Up next was Adrian Beltre, who struck out. Next was JD Drew who would single, and suddenly Boston was threatening w/ 2 on and 1 out. Mike Cameron batting next would line out for out #2, and w/ Jed Lowrie coming up next the game looked in hand. However, he'd single but wasn't able to score Dustin from 2nd.

So...Jacoby Ellsbury comes to the plate and David Aardsma quickly falls behind 3-0 w/ the bases loaded. I was able to get a fastball over for strike #1 w/ Ellsbury taking, and then he took on the next pitch, a sinker for strike 2. Ells would battle a few off from there, but then strike out on a well placed change up down and in.

Seattle wins 3-2 and takes gm1 of this 4 game set.

                  Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

What a great win I had against the Brewers.
They went up 2-0 in the bottom of the 2nd.
I blew a squeeze play in the 5th.
Blew a steal in the 6th that turned into a double play. (Planned to steal, swung, flew out,he was already on 2nd and couldn't go back, thought it'd fall in)
Cedeno blooped home Phillips in top of the 7th.
Jones hit a game tying HR in the top the 8th.
Ended up with runners on the corners in the 9th,I pinch hit for the pitcher spot (kept Johnson in there the whole time) and scored on a squeeze play.
Bailey shut them down in the bottom of the 9th.

                  12 strikeouts for each team

                    Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Just had an awesome game, although I forget a lot of the details so this will be a little bland. Tom Gorzellany vs. Adam Wainwright.

The cards put up 2 right away, but I counter in the bottom of the first with 3 of my own.

Gorzellany can't keep the lead and the Cards get two more and lead 4-3.

The Cards pinch hit for Wainwright after 3 innings

Top 5th the Cardinals strike for another run and lead 5-3. Bottom 5, Marlon Byrd doubles and Mike Fontenot eventually knocks him home with a single to center to cut the lead to 5-4. Tied it up in the 6th at 5.

Fast forward to the 9th, Marmol is in his 2nd inning of work, because he only threw 7 pitches the previous inning. He gives up a double to Holliday, and Schumaker knocks him in with a single to center.

Bottom 9, Micah Hoffpauir grounds out to third to start the inning. Ryan Theriot doubles next. Then Derek Lee singles Theriot in. Aramis Ramirez steps up to the plate, and gets a fat one up in the zone and puts it in the bleachers for the walkoff win(I think our third win walkoff style this year). 8-6.

Marlon Byrd was 3-4 with 3 doubles, he has really been a beast for me recently. He doesn't have a whole lot of HR power(11 HR's), but he definitely has gap power(26 doubles).

Anyways, I'm just 6 days away from the trade deadline. I've been thinking of plenty of possibilities.

I was looking at Alberto Gonzalez of the Nationals(he's in AAA). He'd be my backup SS/2B, I haven't found someone who can fit this bill yet. This is definitely something I'm very interested in, especially with Ryan Theriot(.276) and Mike Fontenot(.271) really starting to struggle recently.

I was also pondering a trade for Brandon Phillips, with Fontenot's average dropping 25-30 points in the last 3-4 weeks. Although I'm not quite sure if I'd want him or not. I'd probably package Starlin Castro, Javier Plunkett(80 pot SP), and another player maybe Jeff Samardzija or Mike Fontenot or Jeff Baker(the last two would give them a filler for 2b right now). Also, the reds are 21 games out of first, so I think they'd be willing to part with him to get solid young players like I'd give them.

Pretty sure there were a few more I was pondering, but can't really think of them at the moment.

Not a trade, but I'm probably going to demote Tom Gorzellany and bring up Noah Lowry. Over his last 9 starts, Gorzellany has allowed 38 ER in 43.1 IP. That's a 7.89 ERA!! He really started off the year great with I think a 3.5 ERA through 10 starts, but he's fallen off a cliff since then.

I recently started a season as the Yankees and Pitt. I only play 3in games since I do want to finish a season possibly two with out playing 6 hours a night.

Four games to go in April for both teams.

                          Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

So I pulled the trigger on a deal w/ San Diego, but couldn't get Heath Bell out the deal.

I sent SD top prospect RF Dominic Brown (75 ovr) and RP Danys Baez (ERA in the 6's, w/ a 2yr contract remaining).

                          for ....

The expiring contracts of RF Jerry Hairston Jr and SP Kevin Corriea.

I've already played 5 games since the deal, pitching 2 Corriea starts in the process. His philly debut was kind of rocky, only went 5 innings, but didn't get a loss because newly acquired Jerry Hairston doubled in two crucial runs. Just pitched Corriea's 2nd Phillies start and he was one out away from a CG before having to be pulled after surrendering consecutive hits; although I had a 5 run lead he had given up 8 hits at that point and was pretty gased. Madson came on to get the final out, and did so getting Mark Reynolds to line out.

This win over the D'Backs avoided Philly from getting swept at home by Arizona. Dan Haren beat us 3-2, Brandon Webb beat us 12-4, and Edwin Jackson beat us 6-3. Kevin Correia stopped the bleeding, pitching a solid game, and striking out 6; also homered 3x, once each by Utley, Howard, and Rollins.

I'd like to add one more arm to the bullpen, but can't...L-O-V-E that I edited contracts too because it's preventing me from getting a "stacked" team so to speak. I've tried to do a deal for Jason Frasor, Jeremy Accardo, Michael Wuertz, and a handful of other relievers but since they all make over a million I don't have the player salaries to include in the deal.

I could go after Joel Zumaya who only makes $700K. Detroit is about 10 games out of first w/ 3 games left to play in July. What would you all say to that?

I mentioned in the 1st paragraph that I couldn't get Heath Bell...Well STL did, w/ Ryan Franklin struggling (7.00+ ERA) I sent over a couple pitching prospects (not top 100 worthy though) in exchange for SDs Heath Bell.

Bell/Franklin at the back end of the STL bullpen is forming a formiddable 1/2 setup/closer punch.

I have almost no use for Okajima. Papelbon, Bard, and Delcarmen pretty much solitify my pen.

As for SP I'm thinking of moving Wakefield to LR and Bucholz to the 5th starter.

I'm also looking to add another bat to the lineup. I wont be resigning Ortiz or Varitek and Im looking to aquire somebody along the lines of Adrian Gonzalez to be the everyday DH and give Youk some well deserved and needed rest. I believe Lowell is in the last year of his contract and I wont be resigning him either.
                            Thanks Vets.
Maybe give up some young talent for A.Gonzalez around the Deadline.

                            Ill keep you posted!

Playing about 20 games over the course of about 2 months. Only Beckett and Lester's starts. I have face some mediocre pitchers.

                              Beckett is 5-2 with a 2.15 ERA I believe
Lester is 7-1 with a 2.45 ERA I believe also

The stamina for the CPU is broken =( Some SP get tired at 50 pitches.
Nonetheless I have thown 4 CG (3 w/ Beckett 1 w/ Lester Beckett and Lester each have a Shutout.

I would update more but Im away from my Xbox.

BTW does anyone have any suggestions on how to trade for Adrian Gonzalez. I have tried nearly everything

I think I'm going to pull the trigger on a deal to bring in Jose Valverde to anchor the back of my bullpen, which has pretty much imploded recently. The Tigers are 10 games out, and Valverde has underperformed so far(ERA in the 5's).

                                I get:
                                Jose Valverde

                                Tigers get:
                                Diory Jarvis(high 80's, maybe low 90's potential)
                                James Astacio(88 potential)
Another player(have a few possible guys to put here)

This was tough trying to get the cpu to like my offer, but I was finally able to get them to like it enough where they would accept it. It seems like a lot to give up, but I sincerely need Valverde to hopefully solidify the back end of my bullpen.

The last player in the deal is either going to be Jeff Samardzija, or a flame throwing relief prospect. The relief prospect has just okay potential, but throws 102 and should probably be ready by next year.

Now, I don't have the funds to make this deal, but since teams throw in money in real life I figured I'd give up a little more talent so the Tigers would pick up most of his contract for this year.

If I end up doing this trade, my farm system is going to be depleted. Last guy I have left with high potential is Starlin Castro, but if that's what it takes to contend I'm willing to do that.

Noah Lowry had his first start of the year for me today against the Colorado Rockies. He did nice, going 7 innings allowing just 2 runs and struck out 2 or 3 guys. He did give up 10 hits, and I got lucky with him stranding some runners. Now, as you could probably guess by what I've written so far, we were not able to keep the lead. Jeff Gray came in, and gave up 2 runs in the 8th. Angel Guzman gave up the tying run in the 9th. I left Guzman in there for the 10th because my pen was a little short, and he gave up a walkoff homerun to Carlos Gonzalez. 2nd game in a row where my pen blew it.

I think that'd be a good fit, and they'd probably be willing to give him up since they're not in contention.

The AI might not be willing to give him up, I've noticed that with some guys. But, I'd suggest checking all your minor leaguers potentials, and try the 3 guys with the highest potentials for him. You could possibly also try the top 2 potentials with a guy like Jacoby Ellsbury and see if they'll take it. I've noticed that this game really values their top players, which is a good thing. It's still pretty easy to rip off the cpu on guys below I think 80(but that doesn't matter as long as you are being fair and give them fair value), but anyone above that is pretty tough to get.
