    I get:
    Jose Valverde

    Tigers get:
    Diory Jarvis(high 80's, maybe low 90's potential)
    James Astacio(88 potential)
    Another player(have a few possible guys to put here)

    This was tough trying to get the cpu to like my offer, but I was finally able to get them to like it enough where they would accept it. It seems like a lot to give up, but I sincerely need Valverde to hopefully solidify the back end of my bullpen.

    The last player in the deal is either going to be Jeff Samardzija, or a flame throwing relief prospect. The relief prospect has just okay potential, but throws 102 and should probably be ready by next year.

    Now, I don't have the funds to make this deal, but since teams throw in money in real life I figured I'd give up a little more talent so the Tigers would pick up most of his contract for this year.

    If I end up doing this trade, my farm system is going to be depleted. Last guy I have left with high potential is Starlin Castro, but if that's what it takes to contend I'm willing to do that.

    Noah Lowry had his first start of the year for me today against the Colorado Rockies. He did nice, going 7 innings allowing just 2 runs and struck out 2 or 3 guys. He did give up 10 hits, and I got lucky with him stranding some runners. Now, as you could probably guess by what I've written so far, we were not able to keep the lead. Jeff Gray came in, and gave up 2 runs in the 8th. Angel Guzman gave up the tying run in the 9th. I left Guzman in there for the 10th because my pen was a little short, and he gave up a walkoff homerun to Carlos Gonzalez. 2nd game in a row where my pen blew it.

    I think that'd be a good fit, and they'd probably be willing to give him up since they're not in contention.

    The AI might not be willing to give him up, I've noticed that with some guys. But, I'd suggest checking all your minor leaguers potentials, and try the 3 guys with the highest potentials for him. You could possibly also try the top 2 potentials with a guy like Jacoby Ellsbury and see if they'll take it. I've noticed that this game really values their top players, which is a good thing. It's still pretty easy to rip off the cpu on guys below I think 80(but that doesn't matter as long as you are being fair and give them fair value), but anyone above that is pretty tough to get.
    Tried giving up Ellsbury Lester and Tazawa. Their not having any of it.

    Im HOT right now. After a bad start I am in 1st place 4.0 gms ahead of the Rays.

    Im still going to look for a bat to replace Ortiz as the DH. Tried getting P.Fielder and Matt Holliday as well (no luck). I wanna get a power hitting lefty that can pull the ball and clank one off the Monster. Thome would be a good fit but hes a dinosaur. Im gonna stick with Gonzalez and try to "persuade" the Padres away from him.

      Wow, I'm surpised they wouldn't take that deal for Gonzalez. Yeah, you might try mixing up some of the guys in the deal and see if the padres like anyone else you have to offer. Good luck.

      Thome has great power, but like you said he's old and I'm guessing you're looking for someone to be there for a few years and not decline talent wise.

        Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

        Around 12:30 eastern time, I was trying to get on to play some MLB 2K10 on PS3 but I could not connect to the 2K servers. So, I decided to play Franchise mode (default rosters) with my Kansas City Royals.

        Year 1, I signed a few Free Agents, made some trades and simulated the entire season - managing the team's lineup and rotation if an injury has occured and I made it to the playoffs! Lost to the Yanks, and then went into the off-season.

        Seeing that I won, I became addicted to the game and made some offseason moves but my 2nd year was horrific as I ended up in the cellar.

        Third season right now, I am past the All-Star break and I am in first place. My team is killer right now.

        The Royals AAA Manager has like 97 learning, I drafted a guy who was 75 and he is now an 84!

          Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

          Royals have not been able to reach the post season at all since 2010. I tried everything. In my third year of my Franchise, I had 89 wins and still didn't make it! I have been getting 70-75 wins every season and had to fire Trey Hillman for manager Gil Paul. Gil Paul did absolutely nothing his first year, getting the usual 70 wins and 80+ losses. However, in his second year the Royals actually got 82 wins - but not enough to even sniff the post-season. I played about three years, trading away David DeJesus and Alex Gordon in those seasons and try to get a decent Bullpen. I even got Hanley Ramierez in the off-season and locked him up with a 7 year contract. I had an above average line-up and pitching rotation, and the bullpen was below average - if I were to give it a grade, a C-. Couldn't get into the post season. My rotation was Chad Billingsley, Justin Verlander, Mark Buerhele, Joba Chamberlain, and Andy Pettite in I think my 7th year in Franchise mode, (I did not keep count on how many seasons I simulated) and no one could win. I lost Zack Greinke to the New York Yankees and coincidently later on I lose Joakim Soria to the Yankees aswell, and it just seems my pitchers do not know how to win!

          I am currently taking a break right now with the Franchise. Royals will find a way to get to the playoffs again.

            Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

            Haven't updated my actual progress in a while, but I am now 8 days into August. I finished July with a 16-10 record. I actually put Tom Gorzellany in as the third guy in the deal for Valverde because they liked him much more than anyone else and for good reason. Their 4th and 5th starters were horrendous rating wise, low 60's. Now they get two great prospects and a good starter who can help them this and next year.

            Valverde's been great though, he already has 3 saves for me so far. He has given up 2 runs though, but they were both in a meaningless inning and it really should've only been one run had I not made a boneheaded play. In his 3 saves he has been perfect, not allowing a run. Feels great to have an overpowering closer, instead of the guys I was running out there who were much more prone to giving up lots of hits.

            I had a great moment last night, where Koyie Hill went deep for his first homerun of the year. Although he's a backup and doesn't get a whole lot of playing time, it felt great to get this(although when I remembered his .232 average I felt not so happy). If I can ever hit a homerun with Ryan Theriot I will have a party, I really don't know if he'll ever hit one.
            I now stand at 70-40. Now you may think that I'm doing way too good, but I had waited too long to change my sliders. I figured everything would come back down, but they didn't. Now they're fine, I think I've hit maybe .265-.270 since fixing them so I'm happy about that. I'm 5 games ahead of the Cardinals currently.

              WOW. I'm 0-6 with the Indians. I am having fun playing but shew I'm getting tired of losing lol. It is not my pitching for the most part but my batting. Johnny Perlta had a 6 game hit streak.

              Check it out link is in sig.

                Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

                I just want to say, I absolutely love Marlon Byrd. He is the bomb, and he has been on a tear recently.

                Here's his stats:

                .308 avg
                26 doubles
                14 HR's
                59 RBI's

                He hit his 14th homerun today, and that run ended up leaving me up by 1 run later in the game. Too bad Valverde blew the save and lost the game for us.

                Also, I'm very close to calling up Starlin Castro and benching Theriot. Dude is horrid right now, he's struggling to stay above .270 and has hit below .200 in his last 25 games. That's just not acceptable from a lead off man.

                I also released Kyle Farnsworth today, he is terrible. Hit, Hit, Hit...you get the point. I called up lefty James Russell to fill his spot.

                  Thanks Vets.
                  Maybe give up some young talent for A.Gonzalez around the Deadline.

                  Ill keep you posted!
                  I made a few deals for Boston. They had Ellsbury go down for an extended amount of time, and Pedroia was already out so there was no one to hit from the top of the order.

                  Mike Lowell had been just wasting away on the bench, and Florida was in contention in the NL so I reunited Lowell w/ the Marlins in exchange for speedy Emilio Bonafacio and some young fodder.

                  Then I did another deadline deal for Boston since Hermida was injured too, and the Red Sox re-acquired Johnny Damon from the struggling Tigers in exchange for Clay Bucholz and his 7.00+ ERA.

                  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
                  Was about to sweep the Nats last night until my bullpen imploded in the 8th inning allowing 4 runs as Washington took a 7-5 lead into the 9th. Had the top of my order coming up, but Capps shut'em down. His fastball jumps out at you...
                  Joe Blanton pitched a rocky 7 innings, allowing 9 hits, but limited WAS to only 3 runs. Newly acquired Sean Burnett was the culprit who killed the game/win for Blanton. Burnett allowed two to reach, and then the next batter hit a 3 run HR off him; he'd allow 2 more runners to reach before being lifted for Chad Durbin who got the final out, but not before surrendering a hit and allowing Washington to score a runner from 2nd.
                  Having played as the Phillies for the final 2 1/2 weeks of July, I'm going to go back to playing w/ the Mariners for the rest of August as they get ready to kick off a BIG 3-game home set w/ the AL West leading Rangers and Seattle is only 1.5 games back. Wish me luck!
                    Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress
                    Thinking about re-doing my Royals Franchise, but this time play only the games Luke Hochevar starts in so I can give him a better overall rating. I want to develop to atleast 85 OVR - Zack Greinke 97 OVR can handle himself. Trade for another starter: Carl Pavano. I am going to make trades and sign Free Agents, try to tuffen the bullpen.
                    Here is going to be my projected starting pitching and line-up. Could change with a few trades.
                    Starting Pitchers
                    Zack Greinke
                    Luke Hochevar
                    Carl Pavano
                    Gil Meche
                    Brian Bannister
                    Line-up
                    Scott Podsednik (LF)
                    David DeJesus (RF)
                    Willie Bloomquist (3B, Bench)
                    Billy Butler (1B, DH)
                    Jose Guillen (DH)
                    Alberto Callaspo (2B)
                    Yuniesky Betancourt (SSvLH, Bench)
                    Mike Aviles (SSvRH, Bench)
                    Rick Ankiel (CF)
                    Alex Gordon* (Bench, 1B, 3B)
                    Brian Anderson* (Bench, Pinch Runner)
                    Mitch Maier (Bench, Pinch Runner)
                    Jason Kendall (C)
                    Brayan Pena (Bench, C)
                    * indicates he might end up in the AAA. Alex Gordon is useless and needs to develop, with Willie Bloomquist being the same overall with excellent speed, he is the oddball. Brian Anderson has good speed and can play the outfield, so he is definately going to be called up when Alex Gordon is called down. Decision to be determined after spring training.
                          Yea...given Clay's real-life success I can see the thinking in this, but "in-game" he has absolutely sucked. Whereas Damon was producing very good #'s for a team mired in 4th place in the AL Central.
                            I'm on the cusp of picking this game up and want to start a franchise with the Mets (my team), but I am leery after reading about the freezing issue. So, I have some questions:
                            1. How often does the game freeze in franchise mode?
                            2. What exactly causes the freezes?
                            3. Are there any known workarounds?
                            4. Any clue as to if Patch #2 will be addressing the issue?
                              Well, the only freezes that I know of are caused by drafted players who get called up. To avoid this problem, you just have to turn on "edit cpu rosters" and send down all the drafted players on the mlb roster. That's what I do, but it really sucks that there won't be any drafted players, so that basically limits franchise mode to a year or 2(at least IMO).
                              As for #4, we don't know a thing about the patch yet. So we won't know if it'll be fixed or not in it, so if you're planning on playing multiple years or are just annoyed by the no drafted players then you should probably just wait until the patch or patch notes come out and see if the issue is addressed.
