I just threw a perfect game with Duke. Only had 5 strikeouts though.
Went ahead and got Reimold. Wan't an improvement at the plate the first game though he did make a really nice catch to keep the perfect game in tact.

        Thoughts?
I am 10-11 with the Tribe and Hafner has 7 HR 20 RBI. I actually went through my team and lowered some of their power ratings. I started to pop them out too often with Pronk and LaPorta but few others were hitting
        HR's.

So far Valbuena is still hitting over .400 and Peralta is around .360 most others are pretty normal high 200's except for Lou Marson who is bad and Grady is playing like a turd.

Sizemore is doing same in mine. I just called up Carlos Santana and through 20 games im 12-8 on a 12 game winstreak. Pronk has 14 homers

Its your franchise, but IMO you may want to tone down the power or Pronk is on pace for 112 HR.

Plus the Indians are nowhere good enough to rattle off 12 in a row especially with the schedule they play in that span of games...vs Texas, @ Minn, @ Oak and @ LAA

I lowered the power on Pronk, Branyan, LaPorta and I lowered the contact way down on Pronk, Branyan and Peralta.

I upped the power on Choo, Peralta and a bit on Cabrera

It's your season but that would get real old for me with Hafner thumping it like that.

            cheers

              Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

I feel like I should at least update you guys with the team ive been messing around with - its a fantasy drafted Royals team. The stats for some reason in this franchise are much, much more realistic than in my Rockies one.

              My Lineup:

              CF Cameron Maybin
              LF Nolan Reimold
              C Joe Mauer
              1B Kendry Morales
              RF Garret Jones
              3B Mike Lowell
              DH Ken Griffey Jr.
              2B Oscar Salazar
              SS Ryan Roberts

              Starting Rotation:

              1. Jon Lester
              2. (drawing a huge blank, I think its Andy Pettitte)
              3. Randy Wells
              4. Johnny Cueto
              5. Ryan Rowland-Smith

              Bullpen:
              CL Carlos Marmol
              SU Matt Thorton
              MR Daniel Bard
              MR Alfredo Aceves
              MR Ramiro Ramirez
              LR Brandon League

I love my bullpen's arms but they struggle a bit. Currently 18-7 at the beginning of May, bout to start a series against the White Sox.

                Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

In at least 4 games recently I've had Bailey warming up in the bullpen with a 2 or 3 run lead in the 8th and then I scored to extend the lead past 3. Reimold came through with a 3 run shot in the bottom of the 8th this last time so is already doing better than Milledge. I think I'm down to about 5 actual Pirates. (Not including the bench)

The headlines didn't even mention the perfect game. That was pretty poor. They mentioned Jones' offensive display instead. Sizemore has recently joined Jones and Doumit in beast mode. Alverez is still cold.

                  Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

My video game ADD kicked in again last night, and I started an O's franchise.

I have this thing where I don't like a lot of veterans on my team, so I traded Tejada and Luke Scott among a few younger low 60s/high 50s players. Picked up Casey McGahee and Carlos Villanueva from the Brewers. Got Keppinger to play 2B for me, even though Roberts is available in AAA. Was offered a trade from the Indians that included Matt Laporta and Peralta, had to pull the trigger. From the Twins I acquired Slowey and Alex Burnett. Again, lots of trades aren't that realistic, but the one that was actually offered to me, blew me away.

I had fun playing the first game, ended up losing 5-2, was leading 2-1 for quite awhile, but my bullpen blew up. I may stick with it for awhile, I need to learn how to hit. I can't get extra base hits to save my life, including the long ball. I've hit 2 in games, both in exhibition mode. If you have any tips for getting hits that'd be great.
                  Teams:

                  NFL - Packers & Browns
                  MLB - Brewers & Twins
NCAA Football - Wisconsin, LSU, Virginia Tech
                  Soccer - Arsenal, Wolverhampton
                  NHL - Wild

                    Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Won my series in Cleveland, then traveled to Baltimore.

Gm1 was Felix Hernandez vs Roy Oswalt; who has really elelvated the Orioles, and absolutely shut me down. Baltimore managed a run in the 1st inning off of Hernandez, which is seeming to be his most difficult inning to get through. Kept the score 1-0 until Felix Pie knocked a 3r HR into RF to push Baltimore to a 4-0 lead. Which would be the final score as Roy Oswalt shut me out, holding Seattle to only 4 hits, striking out 6, and cruising to his 11th win.

I got back at the O's though w/ Cliff Lee to tie the series 1-1. Lee held Baltimore to 5 hits over 8 innings striking out 7, and won 5-1.

Now I've got Bedard going who has struck out 4 through 4 and is pitching w/ a 3-0 lead thanks to a Milton Bradley 3 run HR in the 1st inning after Brian Matusz retired Figgins, surrendered a single to Ichiro, walked Dunn, and then put one in Bradley's wheelhouse for the 3-run shot.

Bedard had held Baltimore hitless through 3 innings.

Quick question I just purchased the game and have searched for workarounds and what not. But No one seems to have put in the time to make a Easy quick accessible workout/warning/Info thread for Franchise.
So my question to you is, are yall playing with 1 user controlled team or 30 Team USER control?

                        Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Just started a new franchise with the Mariners. Wanted to play with the King and with Lee. First order of business was to improve my offense. So, I traded Michael Saunders, Corey Patterson, and Garrett Olson to Tampa Bay for the expiring contract of Carl Crawford. I then traded Doug Fister, Tommy Everidge, and Yusmeiro Petit to Washington for Adam Dunn. My lineup looks like this now:

                        LF Carl Crawford
                        2B Chone Figgins
                        RF Ichiro Suzuki
                        DH Adam Dunn
                        3B Jose Lopez
                        1B Casey Kotchman
                        CF Franklin Gutierrez
                        C Michael Barrett (FA Signing)
                        SS Jack Wilson

Milton Bradley DH's vs. lefties and Dunn shifts to first.

Still struggling with the hitting, but it's improving a little.

My bullpen blew a close game last night. Was only down 2-0 in the 5th, but that changed with a botched fastball hit for a 3-run homer. Bullpen allowed 2 more, lost 7-2. My last game was a 2-0 shutout, I was on the losing end. Got runners to 3B three times, but couldn't get a run across to save my life.

Traded Jhonny Peralta to the Nationals for Tyler Clippard. I also fired my pitching coach who was a 60 something for teaching, hired someone who was 86. Hopefully that'll help.

                            Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

I do franchise with a lot of different teams. I just started one with the Mets, 1 because I've rarely ever used them in baseball games, 2 I don't have any dislike of them, 3 I wanted to see Citi field and 4 they needed a catcher (which is what I wanted my cap to be....I know Barajas is on fire homer wise, but he's only 74 overall, as is my cap)

So far I've played the first two games of the season. The first one was a pitching duel, Santana and Johnson were nearly hittable. Both went into the 6th with no hitters (Santana's was perfect), Jeff Francouer broke up the no-no in the 5th, and Johnson singled off of Johan in the top of the 6th to end it for Santana. Ultimately in the sixth we were able to load the bases for David Wright who delivered with a single that plated 2. Those were the only runs scored. Johnson pitched a complete game (8 IP), Santana pitched 7 for me before pinch hitting him and replacing him with Feliciano and then K-Rod for the save.

Game two was similar. Neither team was able to get a hit the first time through the order, but both were broke up in the 4th. Again David Wright drove in 2 in the 6th to give us the 2-0 lead. The Marlins were able to get on the board in the 8th and Maine was taken out after 7.2 innings, with 2 runs allowed, 7 H, 1 BB and 4K. Acosta was put in the game, allowed a hit, but was able to get out of the inning with no additional damage. My cap was able to start a rally in the bottom of the 8th, getting his first hit of his career (a single up the middle) Tatis pinch hit and got another single. Reyes kept the streak going singling to give us the 3-2 lead. Castillo bunted his way on to load the bases and Bay was able to hit a deep fly to plate the runner (Matthews...PR for Tatis). K-Rod was brought in for a second straight game, got an out, but let up a hit to Cantu and Ross made him pay with a crushed fastball that he sent out to right field. The offense in extras really didn't do much, got a hit here and there, but didn't threaten. Unfortunately for us the top of the Marlins lineup got to reliever Fernando Nieve who allowed a double to Coghlan and a single to Hanley which gave the Marlins the lead. Marlins brought in Burke Badenhop to close (they had already used Leo Nunez, who got the Win) and he did the job, Angel Pagan flying out to end the game, after my cap walked with 2 outs.

Been pretty fun so far. Interested to pitch with Niese for the first time for game 3.

                              Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Had a thriller of a game last night in my fantasy franchise. Royals against White Sox, Jon Lester going for my Royals up against JA Happ and the White Sox.

The White Sox are a scary team - they're right behind me in the division and have the 3rd best record in baseball. Their lineup consists of guys like Ryan Braun, Scott Rolen, Matt Wieters, David Wright, Matt Diaz, just to name a few.

Anyway, Happ started off unhittable through the first 3, while racking up 6 strikeouts. I couldnt hit for crap those innings. In the mean time, Lester allowed a 2-run double from Andruw Jones in the 3rd to make it a 2-0 White Sox lead.

In the 4th though I managed to load the bases for Joe Mauer, who would then smash a grandslam. Huge moment, I go up 4-2 and think I can cruise to a victory here. Boy was I wrong. The White Sox would get 3 back in the 5th, including 2 on a 2-run triple from Rolen. This would make it 5-4.

I would tie it up in the 6th with a double from Ryan Roberts and a single from Nolan Reimold. So after 6th, the score was tied at 5.

In the 7th, Braun ran into a Daniel Bard slider and crushed it, sending it deep into the LF seats for a solo go-ahead homerun. Crushing moment for me, Bard had been by far my best relief pitcher

It wouldnt matter though, as Garrett Jones would come up in the 8th and proceed to crush a Tony Pena fastball into the Sox bullpen to tie the game right back up at 6. I was beginning to think that I may been in for a crazy extra inning affair - and after a quick 9th, both teams went to the 10th.

Mauer started off the 10th for me with a huge double right down the left field line, and Kendry Morales would drive his own double into the left center field gap to give me a 7-6 lead. I chose to leave Brandon League out there for the 10th, as he had thrown only 3 pitches in the 9th. He pitched another quick 1-2-3 inning, getting Matt Diaz to ground out to end the game.

Really great game, one of the best Ive played. Im having alot of fun with these fantasy franchises

Played a few games last night with my O's. Lost one of them 2-0, only got 4 hits. Terrible game overall. Had Guthrie on the mound and he did an admirable job for most of the game.

Next game was against the Red Sox. Went up 1-0 right away. Confidence was riding high at that point. Blew the lead and went down 3-1. I chipped away and finally strung a few hits together and played small ball to get a running into scoring position. Managed to get the tying run across in the 8th inning. Ended up going 13 innings and squeaked a run across to win 4-3. Great game overall. Managed 21 hits in the game, but only 4 runs, 18 singles and 3 doubles. I get a lot of singles, but I also get a ton of double plays.
