    Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Poor Royals. They finally get some runs, to the tune of 5 runs on 13 hits, but lose 6-5 thanks to a 4 run 7th inning that saw me go ahead by 1 run.

Here's the gametrack by innings where runs were scored:

    T2nd:
    -Rick Ankiel grounds out.
    -Alberto Callaspo doubles.
    -Mike Aviles grounds out.
    -Willie Bloomquist double, Callaspo scores.
    -Kendall singles, Bloomquist scores.
    -Podsednik walks, Kendall to 2nd.
    -DeJesus flies out.

    B2nd:
    -Joe Crede grounds out.
    -Kotchman singles.
    -Franklin Gutierrez triples, Kotchman scores.
    -Alberto Gonzalez grounds out.
    -Josh Bard lines out.

    Score 2-1 KC.

    T4th:
    -Alberto Callaspo solo homers.
    -Mike Aviles singles.
-Willie Bloomquist singles, Aviles to 2nd.
    -Kendall flies out.
-Podsednik hits into FC, Bloomquist to 3rd.
-David DeJesus singles, Bloomquist scores, Podsednik to 2nd.
*SEA SP Ryan Rowland-Smith lifted for RHP Jesus Colome
    -Billy Butler lines out.

    Score 4-1 KC.

    T5th:
    -Jermaine Dye grounds out.
    -Rick Ankiel solo homers.
    -Callaspo singles.
    -Aviles grounds into DP.

    B5th:
    -Chone Figgins grounds out.
    -Ichiro grounds out.
    -Milton Bradley solo homers.
    -Dunn lines out.

    Score 4-2 KC.

    B7th:
    -Alberto Gonzalez singles.
    -Josh Bard flies out.
    -Chone Figgins hits into FC.
    -Ichiro doubles, Figgins to 3rd.
-Milton Bradley singles, Figgins and Ichiro score.
    -Adam Dunn homers, Bradley scores.
    -Joe Crede singles.
    -Kotchman hits into FC.

    Score 6-5 SEA.

Mark Lowe would pitch a hitless/scoreless 7th and 8th, and Aardsma would come on in the 9th to get the save after allowing David DeJesus to reach on a single w/ 2 outs. Each team only had 2 Ks each. Had my best game w/ Milton Bradley to date, as he went 4-4 w/ 3 RBI. Adam Dunn continues his surge w/ a HUGE 2r HR blast to right-center for the go ahead run.

Had gone 7 innings in each of Ryan Rowland-Smith's last 2 starts (DET and MIL), but against KC he went only 3.2 innings after allowing 9 hits, a BB, 4 earned runs, and striking out zero.

Robinson Tejeda was the SP for KC, and pitched a great game until his 7th inning implosion sealed KCs fate. Tejeda allowed 12 hits over his 6.2 innings pitched, allowing 5 ERs, but allowed 5 of his 12 hits in the 7th.

The win completes a 3-gm sweep of KC, pushing Seattle to 43-41, and coming to town are the 53-31 New York Yankees: GM1 features Yusmerio Petit vs CC, GM2 features King Felix vs Javy Vazquez, GM3 Cliff Lee vs Burnett, and GM 4 Bedard vs Pettitte.

Should be a good series, and then it's the ASB...

I am 6-2 now after a great game against the angels, i had pettite goign against santana...it was 0-0 through 7 innings, i got out of a couple jams by getting ground outs and a couple strikeouts...bottom of the 7th i got to santana, first was a ground out by jeter, then a single by johnson and texiera..,.after a 6 pitch at bat arod hits an opposite field Hr for a 3-0 lead, then a another single by cano and a duble play from posada.. pulled pettite after 8 shutout innings, pitch count wasnt to high 87 pitches, but fatigue was an issue, so i bring in mariano who got the first two outs but gave up a solo shot then got matsui to ground out at first...

        Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

I pitched possibly the best game ever(at least from my time with 2k10) the other night with Ted Lilly. First game of the Diamondbacks series.

After the bottom of the first, I just felt it was going to be a special game for Lilly. He was mowing down batters left and right, and only gave up 4 hits on the night. But so was Edwin Jackson, although I was able to scratch across one run off of him.

Lilly pitched a complete game shutout, allowing just 4 hits, and striking out 14(!!) batters. He was just amazing, and his circle change and 12-6 were deadly.

It's really too bad that Lilly either has a performance like this, or gives up 6+. I absolutely love pitching with him when he's on, but he usually has a good game then a terrible game or two. His ERA is 5.04 on the year, and I have doubts if I will be bringing him back next season.

Second game of the series I sent out Randy Wells(4 ERA coming into game) to pitch. He gave up a leadoff homerun to Gerardo Parra, but settled down after that and pitched well through 5. He got into some real trouble in the 6th though, gave up a leadoff triple to Mark Reynolds(should've been an out, but it went through DeJesus' glove), and then just let it go from there. I brought in John Grabow winning 3-2, with 2 men on base and 3 lefties coming up with no outs. Grabow has shut down lefties(hell everyone actually) so far, but he gives up a triples to Adam Laroche, then a base knock to Kelly Johnson to give the DBACKS a 5-3 lead. My offense couldn't do a thing after that, and we lost 5-3.

Last game of the series the Diamondbacks ran out some drafted pitcher. 77 mph 4 seam, 72 mph slider, 76 mph curve, 97 mph sinker He proceeded to dominate me, and I lost 1-0. After that I fixed his pitch speeds to be more in line with his sinker so he's a power pitcher. I guess I just learned my lesson to check drafted pitchers repatoire before I face them.

First game of the Dodgers series(which is the last before the all start break), Carlos Zambrano faced off against Vicente Padilla. Our bats showed up this game, and we were able to score 5 runs on 15 hits(first time has 11+ hits in a long time). Z was bringing it today. He went all the way to the 5th inning without giving up a hit, and Ronnie Belliard broke up the no no with a dinky bloop hit into right field. No worries though, Zambrano continued to dominate and pitched a complete game 1 hitter striking out 9. Really nice to get two dominant performances in the matter of just 4 games, pretty sure that's the first time I've done that all year.

I'm still leading the NL central by 2 or 3 games, but it's definitely going to be tough to keep the lead because we have gone back to our normal selves after that 11 game winning streak. Also in one of my recent posts, I was wrong about Ryan Ludwick about the return, he still has 50+ days until he does.

As for my All Stars, Derek Lee and Aramis Ramirez will be starting the game. Geovany Soto just missed out on a bench spot, finshing third in catcher voting. Carlos Zambrano finished second or third in the pitcher voting and Randy Wells finished 5th. I'm not sure how the game determines which pitchers make it(or how many make it), but I assume both of them will. Only reason I know Geo won't make it is because there was a headline that read "Joe Mauer suprised by All Star snub" and he finished third in the AL catcher voting.

Edit: Get this, my 5-7 hitters 10 for their last 72. Ouch, that's a .139 average.

          Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Well as it stands now I look to avoid a 4-gm sweep by beating the Yanks in the 4th gm of the series. I chased Andy Pettitte out of the game in the bottom of the 2nd after hitting 3 HRs: Solo Joe Crede HR (1st as a Mariner), solo Franklin Guiterrez HR (15th of year), and a 3r Milton Bradley HR that has put me up 6-0.

Erik Bedard is the starter for me. So far through 3 innings he has 5 K's, and has allowed 2 hits. He was scorched for 6 runs against NY in his last game agaisnt them, but is on top of his game this go'round.

Just finished the 3rd and tacked on 2 more runs against Phil Hughes to go up 8-0, and in the T4th Bedard has struck out 2 more (Tex and Arod) to push his total to 7 through 3.2 innings. Damn...Yankees got their 1st run after getting a 2out double and 2 singles to drive in Robinson Cano. Still got a 7r lead though...Bottom 8th now and I'm up 11-6. Bedard gave up 6 runs over 7 innings, but struck out 9; it's a love/hate relationship. Joe Crede hit a 3r HR to help bring the run total to 11. FINALLY I hit some HRs w/ Crede, and they couldn't have come at a better time! WHOOOOA...just hit my 3rd HR w/ Crede!!!! Thought he would be the last Seattle hitter of the game w/ Joba on the bump, but he jacks another solo HR to push my lead to 12-6.

Game over now. SEA avoids the sweep and wins 12-6 to head into the 2010 ASB. My 12 runs came on the strength of 17 hits, 1 2B and 5 HRs. Crede was 4/5 w/ 5 RBI and 3 HRs, and Milton Bradley was 2-5 w/ a 3r HR. Decided to get some work for Aardsma in the 9th, he gave up a hit w/ 2 outs, but dropped his ERA to 3.63.

To recap the NYY @ SEA series:
          Gm1 - SEA loss 6-3, CC Sabathia w/ win.
          Gm2 - SEA loss 4-3, Mariano Rivera w/ win.
          Gm3 - SEA loss 2-0, AJ Burnett w/ win.
          Gm4 - SEA win 12-6, Bedard w/ win.

Seattle reaches the ASB w/ a 44-44 record having won 6 of their last 11 games. BIG series upcoming for SEA after ASB as they head to LA to face off w/ the Angels who are 2 games ahead of them sitting at 47-44; Texas leads the AL West at 47-40, Oakland bringing up the rear at 41-48.

            Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Played the All Star break last night, and I'd say it was nice to get a change of pace from just playing with the cubs. First off was the Home Run Derby, where I played as everyone.

            Round 1 HR totals-
            Derek Lee - 15
            Adam Dunn - 13
            Carlos Pena - 10
            Juan Rivera - 8
            Manny Ramirez - 7
            Alex Rodriguez - 7
            Matt Kemp - 6
            Matt LaPorta - 0

            Round 2-
            Carlos Pena - 15
            Adam Dunn - 10
            Derek Lee - 10
            Juan Rivera - 9

Now, Derek Lee should have advanced here along with Carlos Pena because in real life they carry over the round 1 totals, but the game goes by longest HR instead and Adam Dunn advanced

            Final Round-
            Adam Dunn - 19
            Carlos Pena - 13

I have to say, I had quite a lot of fun playing this. Adam Dunn was a monster, I swear there was one that looked like it would hit the scoreboard past the seats in right field but the game doesn't follow the ball until it lands so I couldn't tell if it was just the angle giving me that impression or it actually did.

            Futures Game
Played a little of this, mostly just Starlin Castro's at bats. Castro went 2-5 with a double. I also had a pitcher in it, but he did terrible. He has a nice slurve though, didn't know that until now.

            All Star Game
            Tim Lincecum vs. CC Sabathia.

Bottom 1, Lincecum got into some trouble. Runner on second, Ichiro grounded to the SS and I threw it to third but the tag was applied terribly(no where close to the runner). So first and third, Texiera doubles in both runners. Then Lincecum gets out of the inning with no other damage, AL leads 2-0.

CC was mowing through hitters, and with this game having no extra logic for the all star game he stayed in for a long time.

Top 7, Pablo Sandoval leads it off with a HR to right field just over the wall. Then Jose Reyes singles. Ryan Doumit follows it up with a single that sends Reyes to third. Nate Schierholtz singles right over the SS' head, driving in Reyes to tie the game at 2. Aramis Ramirez Sac fly's Doumit to third base. Next, Matt Kemp stands in with 1st and third. He singles to the right side and gives us the 3-2 lead. We couldn't do any more damage, but that's all that needed to be done.

Randy Wells pitched a 1-2-3 7th inning. Jonathan Sanchez followed it up with a scoreless 8th inning. In the 9th I bring in Carlos Zambrano to shut the door, and he makes quick work of the AL all stars and we win 3-2.

            NL finally has homefield adavantage.

Cubs in the All Star game-
Derek Lee and Aramis Ramirez- 0-2 each
            Randy Wells- 1 IP, 0 H
            Carlos Zambrano- 1 IP, 0 H, S

I am 57-32, 3.5 games ahead of the Cardinals. We have hit like crap recently(I think we are averaging barely 7 hits per game in July), but my pitching has carved up the opposition recently.

Just to warn everyone, you guys should probably keep a pre all star game save of your franchise. Because after the all star break all the box scores from the first half disappear. I'm fine because I have a save from every single day, but I know most do not do that.

I'm making a note to hit Pedro Feliz in the head next time I play the Astros. He broke up my no hitter with Maholm in the 7th so he's getting it next time + he might've walked across my mound!

I'm moving Maholm to pitcher #2 instead of #3 when I get the chance.

No, they don't get screwed up. You just can't look at the box scores of games in the first half, and the recent games on the players card are empty.

                          Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

The Phillies have been stricken w/ the injury bug. Lost Raul Ibanez for 2 months, and now have lost Jayson Werth...probably till mid-September. Although I had struggled w/ Werth in April, he had really come on since the 1st month of the year hitting .290, knocking 18 HRs, swiping 11 bags, and being a key run-producer from the right side of the plate. Was hoping for a 20/20 season out of the RF'er, but that looks far out of reach now...

Called up John Mayberry Jr. in the interim, but I need a more solid option. Thinking about swinging a deal w/ the NL West last place Padres for OF'er Scott Hairston. SD will get a few prospects, and the ability to get ABs for up and comer Will Venable. Hairston can provide a solid defender, plus some pop from the right side of the plate versus lefties.

As for what I'm doing w/ M's, well I'm currently 3 games into a 4-gm series w/ LAA after the ASB. King Felix pitched a solid 8 innings to take gm1 of the series, allowing only 4 hits, but Cliff Lee was knocked around in gm2 for 11 hits in 7 innings. However, Lee minimized the damage and kept the M's in it allowing only 3 runs. Gm2 went into extras, but the M's couldn't get it done as Jeff Mathis knocked a walk-off HR in the B11th to win it.

In gm3 Bedard was cruising through 5 innings and SEE was up 3-0, but in the 6th Bedard allowed 2 singles and a run to cross before being lifted w/ no outs and runners on 2nd and 3rd. Brandon League would get 3 outs, stranding the tying run on 3rd, and getting out of the inning w/ a 1 run lead (3-2) still entact. Bedard's bullpen let him down though as Garrett Olson gave up a solo-HR to Hideki Matsui in the 8th which tied it at 3-3.

Game 3 would go into extras too, but this time Seattle would strike in the 10th w/ an rbi single from Adam Dunn scoring Chone Figgins, and David Aardsma would get the save thanks in large part to BIG double play. Hopefully I can take the series 3 games to 1. Ryan Rowland-Smith and Ervin Santana face off in gm4, and then SEA heads back home for 7 games between the White Sox and Red Sox.

Well...split the series w/ LAA . Ryan Rowland-Smith gave up 4 runs on 2 HRs, and Ervin Santana pitched 8 solid innings only allowing 2 runs to cross after Adam Dunn homered for his 21st of the year. That 2r shot would be all Seattle could muster, losing 4-2. That Angels series was fun, and they're a hard team to pitch against since everyone swings the bat pretty good. Hideki Matsui can be pretty scary. I started IBB'ing him anytime runners were on because he was killing me at the plate.

Started & played gm1 of a 3-gm home series w/ the White Sox. Yusmeiro Petit was on his game through 5 innings, having struck out 5, but ran into some trouble in the 6th as 2 runners reached w/ no outs. Was able to get out of the inning w/ my lead still entact as I had mounted 5 runs, but Chicago cut it to 5-3 after the 6th. Score would remaing 5-3 for the final score as both teams got some runners on, but couldn't capitalize. David Aardsma picked up another save (#18 I believe). Adam Dunn homered twice to continue his swinging a hot bat. He hit a 2r HR, and a solo HR. Joe Crede also solo homered, and Ichiro Suzuki singled in another run which altogether brought the Seattle total to 5 runs.

Felix Hernandez faces off w/ Mark Buerhle next. With the way Yusmeiro Petit was able to get K's against this righty dominant White Sox lineup, I'm hoping Hernandez, the MLB strikeouts leader, can post a BIG number. Should be fun, love pitching w/ Felix....

After starting 7-2 with my yanks i now stand at 8-9..I have been striking out a ton, 10+ per game...for some reason i get into a funk and swing at everything, and i have scored more than 3 runs once during this slide...right now i am 4.5 games out with no sign of getting out of this slide..

maybe it's the sliders, i am using mickyknoxx sliders.

                              what is everyone else using?

Game 2 of the White Sox @ Mariners:

King Felix didn't have his best stuff. Didn't walk any, but surrendered 12 hits and 4 earned runs in a complete game victory over the White Sox. I was playing w/ fire since I was gunning for Hernandez's 13th victory, and decided to pitch him in 8th. He pitched a scoreless/hitless 8th, getting his 5th K, and his offense picked him up w/ back-to-back-to-back HRs to follow.....

Chone Figgins lead off the 8th, w/ the White Sox opting to bring in lefty Matt Thornton w/ a 3-2 lead, sitting Mark Buehrle, who had pitched a 7 inning gem w/ a pitch count of 82.

Figgins grounded into the 3B/SS hole but Alexei Ramirez made a nice stab and throw. One down. Then Ichiro came up, 0-3 on the day, and on a 1-2 pitch sent a liner down the 3B line for his first hit.

The white HOT slugger Adam Dunn was up next, facing Matt Thornton. Dunn got ahead in the count, and scorched his 24th HR of the year for a 2r HR that put Seattle up 4-3. Adam Dunn now has 12 HRs as a Mariner, through 18 games, when he had only 11 HRs as a National through 75 game; guess he wasn't motivated...

Another slugger starting to come on came up next. Joe Crede had put Seattle up 2-0 in the first inning w/ a 2r shot to left. Crede is 10-25 after the All-Star Break w/ 4 RBI, 2 doubles, and 3 homers. He'd solo homer in this one to give Seattle a much needed insurance run.

After the Crede and Dunn homers, manager Ozzie Guillen pulled the plug on Matt Thornton, only to watch Bobby Jenks, on his 1st pitch to Casey Kotchman, park a HR to left just like Crede had just done. Seattle up 6-3.

Wakamatsu would allow Hernandez to pitch the 9th. Felix would give up his 12th hit of the game w/ 2 outs, a solo HR from Alexei Ramirez, but he'd close the door for the 3rd out and the Mariners have their 1st series win post-ASB.
