Brandon Webb comes to mind, and Arizona is sitting a few game under .500. What would be a fair deal for him from BAL? Is there anyone else you guys think I should go after? Roy Oswalt maybe? I was thinking I'd send Jeremy Guthrie over in any deal since he's a FA, and is 1-4 w/ a 6.04 ERA. I'd need to open up a rotation spot, and with Kevin Millwood pitching solid, Brad Bergessen being my best pitcher right now, being committed to the development of lefty Brian Matusz, and favoring Kojo Uehara over Guthrie, Guthrie seems like the odd man out.
Still looking for some insight on the above.

Lost my first series w/ the O's, a home series at that. I had to rest Luke Scott and Miguel Tejada. Ty Wiggington started for Tejada at 3rd and was the only reason I scored 2 runs as he hit a solo HR and an RBI double for the Orioles only two runs. Felix Pie started in LF, and went 0-3.

Brad Bergessen pitched a good game. He only gave up 7 hits over 8 innings. Unfortunately I allowed him to pitch to Asdrubal Cabrera to start the 9th who singled, and would eventually score the go-ahead run after Shin Shoo Choo singled in Cabrera from 3rd.

Kerry Wood shut me down 1-2-3 in the 9th, and the Indians won 3-2 to take the series. O's have lost two straight, but look to bounce back vs KC; who is actually in first in the central.

    FINAL

    BAL 2 7 0 - 1 HR/2B

    SV Kerry Wood 1.0IP 0H 0R/ER 0BB 0K

    Brian Roberts 2-4 caught stealing.
    Adam Jones 2-4 run scored.
    Markakis 0-3, 3K's.
    Wieters 1-3 w/ a BB.
    Reimold 0-3, K.
    Ty Wigginton went 2-4 w/ 2rbi and a 2B and HR.
    Pie/Atkins/Izturis a combined 0-9.

    Sizemore 0-4, 2Ks.
    A Cabrera 1-4, GW run.
    Hafner 1-4, solo HR.
    Laporta 1-4, 2B.
    C Santana 2-4, run scored.
    Choo 2-3, 2 rbi.
    Peralta 0-4.
    Branyan/Valbuena 2-6.

So, I got swept by Texas in the opening series, but my team rebounds to sweep Baltimore in the next series, which was in Baltimore. I then come home for my home opener and Shaun Marcum is matched up against Mark Buehrle. Marcum did okay in his seven innings, giving up three runs. However, Buehrle was a little better only allowing two runs in HIS seven innings, and I lose the home opener 3-2. This puts my record at 3-4 with Brandon Morrow pitching the next game for my team.

If you get in the position for a wildcard spot or even a playoff spot, I would go out and try and get a real horse. Brandon Webb could be the sleeper steal but you would have to be concerned with injury. Oswalt would also be huge and I think he could get you over the top, I also think if you got Guthrie you would still be in the same position your in. Other players I like are Josh Beckett who is in a contract year and could elevate your team tremendously. Maybe even Cliff Lee? He is in his final year. My sleeper pick for a pitcher would be Yovani Gallardo from MIL. The one though out of all of them that I would go after would be Oswalt because I think he could help get you over the hump when you get there. I'm not really sure on players you can give up but try and work a deal with players you can stand to send away.

          Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Just started my Cubs franchise, dzznuts rosters (with some extra cubs prospects i created cashner, b jackson, and more), All star difficulty with no slider edits, i like the feel of All Star and do not want to mess with it.

          Opening Day @ Braves

Pitchers duel, Zambrano v Jurrjens, Big Z was solid only allowing 1 run on 5 hits thru 7 innings, Jurrjens went 8.2 allowing a few more hits but no runs.

So it was 1-0 in the top of the 9th. Soriano strikes out to lead it off, then Soto picks up a hit, followed up with Fontenot getting a single. With runners on 1st and 2nd i pinch hit Nady for Fukudome to get a righty-lefty matchup, but he strikes out. I pinch hit Baker for the pitcher spot and he musters up a single but i cant score, so the bases are loaded. Then comes Ryan Theriot, having gone 0-4 already today, he slaps one into the right field corner bringing in two.

Marmol gets the save, Caridad the W, Wagner the L

My Cubs are 1-0, exciting game

              Thanks man^^

Got beat pretty badly in Game 2 vs Atlanta, lost 7-0

Lilly went 6 allowing 3, Tommy Hanson went CG shutout.

Mcann and Glaus went deep for them, McCann bringing in 3 RBI's.

Any tips for hitting for power? I know i've only played two but i only have two doubles, no home runs and nothing really close to a home run. It could be my timing but does me playing on all-star with no sliders have anything to do with it?

No problem man, always like to see a good game.

As far as hitting tips goes, I will tell you from experience that I too switched to All-Star and got killed in all my games and got barely any hits and no homeruns. I since then switched to Pro and having a blast because like some people have said on here, pro plays like what the players ratings really mean. I played a game last night with the Redbirds and beat the Reds 2-1 with Rasmus and Pujols going back to back. Wainwright gave up a shot to Bruce and pitched well the whole game. Hits were like 8-3 so nothing outragous. I do believe pro is the way to go. I also use classic hitting because I like having my timing being the outcome of the way I hit.

Are you finding pro too easy and are you using sliders? i think i will try using pro for my next series, but i also have to remember that Atlanta is a solid pitching team.

I got dominated by Tim Hudson in game 3, he went 8 innings with 8 K's. Dempster went 7 allowing 1 run, Grabow allowed another in the 8th.

I only managed 2 hits off Hudson, and i got one off Wagner, and lost 2-0.

                  CHC 0 3 0
                  ATL 2 7 0

My record is now 1-2 as i head off to cincy

Pro is kinda in between for me. If I play All-Star, I can't hit worth a crap and get pissed really quick. So on pro I can still put up numbers while still giving me a challenge. Because for me, I'm in the play and have fun with it than play on hard a be pissed all the time. I wanna win but not all the time. Like for me, when I played NHL I was 66-13-3. I dominated the season and playoffs but lost in the stanley cup finals. So for me it was worth it to play something I enjoyed and was a little easy in playing but still lost and had a challenge because I had fun. This year though on 2k10, pro is little more challenging. When I had rookies just playing in spring training I was 2-3 in 5 games. When I had my starters I was 4-1 in 5 games. So I think pro does a good job in playing true to the players ratings, sometimes it may be a little easy but I enjoy in just playing a baseball game instead of yelling and not hitting or scoring runs at all and not having any fun.

                      Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

I've finished up 4 series since the last time I posted.

Game 1 vs Marlins- Ryan Dempster pitched pretty well going 6 2/3 IP, but Carlos Marmol let the game get away in the 10th and gave up 3 runs and we lost 6-3.

Game 2- Randy Wells pitched great and the bats showed up. Wells pitched a complete game, let up just 3 runs and struck out 9. We won this one 9-3.

Game 3- Tom Gorzellany pitched decent going 6 letting up 3. Jermaine Dye had another 2 HR game,
probably because the Marlins threw nothing but lefties at us and he destroys lefties(94 power). Came away with the victory here 11-4.

Game 1 vs Pirates- Carlos Zambrano had a great game, he went 7 1/3 IP let up just 1 run. He also went deep to help his own cause, and we won this game 3-1.

Game 2- Rough outing for Ted Lilly, as he only last 4 innings giving up 7 runs. The game wasn't as close as it seemed, because I put up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th, but still lost it 8-5.

Game 3- Back to back solid outings for Ryan Dempster. He gave up 3 through 7 2/3 IP. Doubles by Theriot, Byrd, and Lee(who hit two) were the key to the offense this game. We came away with the win 4-3.

Game 1 vs Rockies- Randy Wells threw pretty good, only letting up 3 through 7 innings. Our bats did not show up though, we were only able to muster up 1 run off of 5 hits. Lost this one 4-1.

Game 2- Gorzelanny had another 6 IP 3 R game. We were able to get 4 runs across before the 7th inning. I bring in Angel Guzman for the 8th hoping he can keep the lead, but he can't. He gives up a run, and now it's tied. Bottom of the 8th we crossed the plate twice, and Carlos Marmol went on to shut the door for his 7th save in 8 trys. Won it 6-4.

Game 1 vs Phillies- Bad outing by Carlos Zambrano. He only went 4 innings, letting up 6 runs. One of those runs was an inside the park homerun by Jimmy Rollins, where Fukudome missed a sliding catch in center field. Top of the 6th we are down by 2 runs. Mike Fontenot gets a hit to center field. I pinch hit Micah Hoffpauir, and Chad Durbin leave a hanging breaking ball up in the zone and Hoffpauir destroys it and the game is now tied up at 6 a piece. The Phillies decided to keep Durbin in for the 7th inning, and we roll over him scoring 5 runs in the inning and everyone came to the plate. Alfonso Soriano went 2-3 with a homerun in this game, finally. He was 0 for his last 22 hitting .203. Hope he builds off of this game. We won it by a score of 13-7.

Game 2- Another bad outing by Ted Lilly. He only went 1 inning, allowing 8 runs. Now we may have gotten beat down this game, but I took something good from it. Sean Marshall came in to pitch for Lilly, and retired the first 13 batters he faced and only gave up 1 run in 7 innings. I now have faith in Marshall again, which is hard to do after the last few times he's pitched. Roy Halladay carved up my lineup, pitching a complete game 3 hit shutout. He struck me out 14 times. We lost this one 9-0.

For this stretch of games, I went 6-4. I'd say I'm pretty happy with how things went. We are now 23-19, only 7 games back of the Cardinals. How am I only 7 games back? The Cardinals have dropped 5 in a row, and I hope that continues against the angels.

The NL east has a 3 way tie for 1st place, and the Nats and Mets are only 1.5 games back. Pretty crazy.

I go on the road to face Texas in a 3 game series at their place. Then come home for two 3 game series against the Dodgers and Cardinals. This will be the first time I have faced the Cardinals all year. Hopefully I can take care of business.

Well, I don't really know what kind of talent you have in your minors there in baltamore, but I figure a guy with mid to high 80's potential and another guy in the high 70's or low 80's potential might be fair value for him. If you can, the high 80's potential guy might need to be a pitcher, because I'm sure the DBACKS would look to get a good upside pitcher for him.

Good set of games and series. Keep fighting to get that top NL Central spot! Even though it is against my redbirds .

As for me I played against the Reds, Harang vs Carpenter. Carp was just untouchable, he pitched a complete game shut out. Only giving up 4 hits and striking out 12! Rasmus had a homer and Luddy went 3-4 with 2 doubles. Basically had all kinds of extra base hits to get the 6-0 win. Next game is Cueto vs Penny.
What's with this chick? Does she have beer flavored nipples?

I am loving the game, I have switched over to classic hitting and found a perfect set to play in my franchise. I am currently 16-10 and have a 2.5 game lead on the Mets.

Roy Halladay is an absolute beast on the mound, everytime I pitch with him, he is almost always dead on. I am 4-1 with him with a sexy 1.26 ERA. Hamels is the oppsite, he is 3-1 but with a 6.5 ERA. Blanton is 0-3 with a 5.5 ERA, Happ is 2-1 with a 4 ERA and Kendrick who has been a pleasant suprise is 3-2 with a 2 ERA.

My offense has been nothing short of spectular. Howard and Ibanez and Utley are jacking the play like they should with Howard and Ibanez with 10 dingers and Utley with 9 dingers. Ibanez and Polance hve a near .400 Batting Average.

My bullpen has been solid and have been faithful to the starting rotation. I am currently in a 4 game series with the Cardinals.

Okay, so I ended up slitting the four game set with the White Sox to bring me to 5-5. I then proceed to take two out of three from Anaheim to go to 7-6, only to follow that up by dropping two of three to the Kansas City Royals. And they were last in the AL Central going into that series for crying out loud! While I wouldn't have minded losing two out of three to the Angels, losing two of three to the Royals is not acceptable. So now I'm 8-8 on the year and I now get to face the AL East leading Rays in my next series, which is a three game set. Also, a quick question for you. Through sixteen regular season games, Vernon Wells is only hitting .133 for me, and has no home runs, no RBIs and three stolen bases. But based on this low average, should I try and trade Vernon to try and improve my hitting or should I stick with him a while longer to see if he gets out of his funk?

Thanks man. One thing I have to say is, I'm sure glad I won't be facing Chris Carpenter in this upcoming series against the cards I have. I'll still have to face Wainwright though, gonna be tough.

Game 1 vs. Rangers- This was a terrible game, and the beginning of the end for Ryan Dempster in the rotation. He went 3.1 innings, and allowed 10 runs. Marlon Byrd hit a 2 run homerun in his first game back at Arlington since signing with the cubs, but we still lost this one 10-3.

Game 2- Randy Wells was on his game, throwing 8 innings of 2 run ball striking out 8. Jeff Baker had a nice game going 2-4 with 2 doubles and an RBI. Leading 4-2 in the bottom of the 9th, things got shaky with Carlos Marmol on the mound. Not suprisingly, he struggled, but luckily we were able to get out of there with the win 4-3.

Game 3- Tom Gorzellany pitched another nice game, he's been a nice suprise this season with a mid 3's ERA. He pitched 6 innings, allowing 2 runs. Down 2-1 in the 7th, Marlon Byrd came up with runners on first and second and drove a ball to the game for a 2 runs double to give us the 1 run lead. The next inning, with a runner on first, Micah Hoffpauir came up to bat. The pitcher hung a fat one up in the zone and Hoffpauir drove it out of the yard to add 2 more runs to our lead. We went on to win 5-2.

Game 1 vs. the Dodgers- This was a heartbreaker. I got a 4-0 lead going into the 4th inning. Casey Blake hits a homerun off of Carlos Zambrano, no big deal, still leading by three. Next inning, James Loney hits a 2 run shot off of Z and now I only have a 1 run lead. Matt Kemp finishes the comeback, by tying it up on a solo homerun to center. Zambrano would settle down and pitch 8 innings, allowing 4 runs and striking out 9. I could not score no matter how many people I got on base or in scoring position. The game went into extras, and I must've gotten someone on at least 2nd every inning but to no avail. Here comes the 12th, and I sub in Jeff Samardzija to pitch. He gives up 3 runs, and we're unable to make up the defecit in the bottom of the 12th and lose 7-4.

Game 2- I was able to get to Chad Billingsly early and he only lasted 2 innings giving up 4 runs. After two back to back terrible starts by Ted Lilly, he straps in and shuts them down. Went 8 strong, allowin just one run. I had John Grabow and Angel Guzman finish up the 9th, and we won 4-1.

Game 3- This game started off a disaster. Ryan Dempster on the mound hoping to bounce back, he does not. In the first inning he allows 7 runs. I figure I'll try and get another inning out of him, but after only getting 1 out in the second he gives up another run. That was the end of the line for him, 1.1 IP 8 runs allowed. I bring in Sean Marshall and he gives another great performance out of the pen. Going 6.2 IP 3 H 5 K's and 1 run(which shouldn't have scored, but the catchers cannot tag people out at the plate in this game). Clayton Kershaw was on a roll, up until the 6th inning. We managed to score 6 runs off of him, and the last 3 came courtesy of a 3 runs HR from Alfonso Soriano. Now we are down 9-6. Going into the 9th, I am looking to do the improbable and make the comeback. The dodgers decide to keep George Sherrill on the mound for the 9th. I ground out, then get a base hit. Then the next batter lines out to 3rd base, looks like I have no shot, right? Jermaine Dye gets a big base hit to keep the inning alive, 2 outs, 2 on for Alfonso Soriano. Swinging strike one, ball one, strike two looking. Down to what could be our final strike, George Sherril throws and low and inside pitch to Alfonso Soriano and he drills it deep and gone. TIE GAME!! Then the dodgers decide to bring in Jonathan Broxton in finally. Two quick balls, and then a called strike high on the outside black to Mike Fontenot. Broxton tries to blow one by Fontenot on the outside edge, but Fontenot sends it deep for the walkoff homerun! All the power was generated from Broxton's 100 mph fastball, as I swung with contact swing. It was Fontenot's 4th homerun of the year, and I'd have to say his biggest.

Crazy set of games here, and I'd say I'm proud of the 4-2 record especially since after the first inning in the last game I thought it would be 3-3. Ryan Dempster has lost his spot in the rotation to Sean Marshall. Dempster started off the year bad, having a lot of 5 IP 5 or 6 run games, then he had a few good outings, but these last two have pushed him out of a rotation spot. A total of 4.2 IP and 18 runs allowed. Sean Marshall has had a nice season so far, except one outing in long relief where he gave up 9 runs while getting no outs. His last two outings have been in relief of Dempster, and he has a total of 13.2 IP and just 2 runs allowed.

We now stand at 27-21 on the year, still 8 games back of the 35-13 Cardinals. I have a chance to cut that down to 5 games if I sweep the cards in this 3 game set I have against them now. Not that it matters, since it's so early in the season, but I leading by 2.5 games in the wild card right now. But like I said, it's really early and that all could change.

Alfonso Soriano has done nice recently, and now has his average up to .225 and has 9 HR's. I still don't know what I'm going to do about the closer spot because Marmol almost always gets in jams and gives up runs.

I also have another dilemma, I find having Jermaine Dye on my team to be a little unfair. Through 18 games, he's hitting .360 with 9 HR's. He is right near the team leader in homeruns and he's only played 18 games. It's because he has a 94 power rating against lefties, and has multiple 2 HR games against lefties. I think I might wait a few more games and see if he cools down(because at one point in the year Byrd was hitting .500 through around 20 or 25 games and he's down to .318 now). I know it's a little weird to complain about a guy dominating, but I just find it unfair to have another huge power hitter like him in my lineup. I was thinking about swapping him with Vlad Guerreuro because the rangers don't even play him(Daniel Murphy DH's over Vlad ), but the Rangers weren't interested.
