    Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Finally finished my game against the Yankees with a 5-3 victory. Rays scored two runs on top of the 7th. David Price pitched 8.1 innings and Soriano closed it out with the finally 2 outs.

Rays record is 7-7 and one game back of the Red Sox and Yankees. Next game against the Astros.

Just had an **** 18 inning duel against the Colorado Rockies, with Jonathan Sanchez going 10 innings! (120 pitches) Pablo and Zobrist each went 6-9, but couldn't drive anybody in! The end happened like this; after Lincecum came in to pitch an emergency inning (striking out Tulowiztki, Helton and Hawpe in the process) Freddy Sanchez hits a blopper to left, Sandoval walks (amazing), Huff sac flys Freddy to 3rd and Pablo to 2nd, and with my new acquisistion Ben Zobrist coming up, I pinch run for Sanchez with Omar Vizquel (picked up after White Soz cut him), Zobrist his a grounder and I think to myself "oh no ANOTHER double play?" But Tulowitzki DROPS the hand off from Barmes and Vizquel scores on that play! The final score was 2-1 with Lincecum getting a W and Corpas getting the L. This was the most amazing game i've ever played in this association. But it lead me to ask a question; does fatigue affect players during the process of a game? Because Tulo is one of the best fielders at his posistion, and for him to blow the game on a dropped toss from Barmes seems weird...not that i'm complaining!

Well here I am, top of the 8th inning losing 4-1 to the Astros. If you don't turn doubleplays in this game, it will kill you. The Rays had a chance to turn three double plays in the first three innings and were unsuccessful on all three chances. We did get the one out. However, the next batter would make us pay on each occassion with a RBI single. Wade pitched the first six innings giving up the 4 runs and God knows how many hits (12 to be exact) Sorrenson is on for relief. Will keep you all updated.

Back to the action.....The Rays scored 2 runs on the top of the 9th inning, however, it wasn't enough as the Rays lose 4-3. Our record drops to 7-8 and we are currently 2 games back of the Yankees. Also just heard a rumor the Yankees are picking up Lee...."wonderful"

            Franchise Yr2:

Played the D'Backs last night in Arizona. It's like the 2nd week of May 2011 in my franchise.

            Matchup: Halladay -vs- Esermling Vasquez

Halladay was onpoint but got little to no run support as Philly only managed 2 runs. 1 run coming on back to back Howard/Werth doubles, and a second run coming on a Polanco single scoring Rollins from 3rd.

Halladay allowed 1 run on 4 hits striking out 11. His only run allowed was a solo shot from Stephen Drew (his 7th). Halladay pitched 8 solid innings, then JC Romero came on in the 9th to get out the lefty Adam LaRoche, and Ryan Madson came on for a 2 out Save. Madson failed to save the game, recorded only one out, and giving up a Augie Ojeda single that scored runners from 2nd and 3rd.

Phillies fell to 19-17 on the season, 5 games back from the Marlins.

              Re: MLB 2K10 Franchise Progress

Here's a weird stat.... It just took me until the 18th game of my season to give up my first home run. An 0-1 slider, low and inside from Jeremy Bonderman to Justin Smoak to straight center. I'm 15-3 on the season, with many close games.

              Individual Stats

Johnny Damon leads MLB in AVG at .443 (.46 higher than 2nd place Youkilis)

Miguel Cabrera leads MLB in HR with 12 (4 more than 2nd place Berkman) and RBI with 28 (6 more than 2nd place LaPorta)

Rick Porcello leads MLB in ERA with 0.92 (.31 better than 2nd place Rich Harden)

Justin Verlander is worst in MLB in hits allowed (35) but still has 2.37 ERA. Also is giving up opp BA of .302 (lowered .30 since last start)

              Armando Galarraga 3 starts (0-1) 15.0 IP, 8.40 ERA, 1.73 WHIP, 12 Ks, 1 BB, .368 BAA (yikes!), 25 hits allowed (3 2Bs, 4 3Bs, 0 HRs), 1HPB

              Team Stats

Tigers have 194 hits on the season. 148 singles, 18 doubles, 2 triples, 26 HRs

Team offensive walks 40 (fewest in MLB) Team Ks 91 (fewest in MLB) Team BA .310 (best in MLB by .21 over Blue Jays and Angels)

Team ERA 2.99 (tied for MLB lead with Phillies) Team pitching Ks 110 (4th fewest in MLB), Team BAA .283 (4th highest in MLB)

                Franchise Yr 1

My Toronto Blue Jays currently sit 66-45, Best in the AL East, with Boston only 1 game behind. Ricky Romero and Shaun Marcum have been studs for me. Marcum is currently 12-7 with a 3.47 ERA. Romero is 10-7 with a 2.33 ERA. I decided to not do much at the trade deadline, (keeping in mind i can not make all the moves NYY & LAA have made - can't lose prospects) except unload Kevin Gregg who had 14 blown saves for a bullpen arm. Thinking about using Scott Downs for the rest of the year. I was thinking about adding a right hitting doubles guy, but decided against it, because i am trying to keep most of the team in tact, I didnt trade Lyle Overbay for two reasons. I dont think bringing up Wallace to play right away would help, and i want to see if this team can make the post-season. Hill, Wells, Lind, Bautista and Gonzalez have all hit well. John Buck has been good for me too. I have a big 3 game series with Boston coming up. We'll see how the month of august plays out.

Howard's a native STL guy, and it's a move that had a little flair during Spring Training this year (in real-life). Thoughts?

This is a great idea if you can land it! Pujols brings new life to every team , and its a shame that Pujols isnt helping the Cardinals will some more... But YES for the trade for Pujols for Howard.

Not a good weekend for the Rays as they dropped their third game in the row losing to the White Sox 2-1. Mark Buehrle pitched 8 inning giving up one run and Bobby Jenks came in to save it. Matt Garza pitched a complete game for the Rays but came up on the short end of the score board. The Rays had a chance to win it in the 9th loading up the bases against Jenks, however, B.J. Upton hit a fly ball to left field to end the game.

The Rays record stands at 7-10, 5 games back of the Yankees. A couple of the team's stats:

                        Team Batting Avg: .286
                        Team ERA: 2.03
Team HRs: 3 - I need help on this, LOL!
Team HRs allowed: 1 (inside the park)

I apologize I forgot about the Red Sox game that the Rays also lost by the score of 2-1. James Shield pitched 8.0 inning giving up the 2 runs and Dan Wheeler came in and pitched a perfect 9th inning. For the Red Sox, Josh Beckett was the winning pitcher with 8.0 innings, allowing 0 runs, however, Johnathon Papebon struggled in the 9th giving up one run 3 hits before shutting the door. The Rays record drops to 7-9.

Thanks. I'm eager to try and get that deal done, but it is contingent upon STL still being a sub-.500 team and finding themselves in the bottom half of the division. A couple of weeks have gone by in my franchise since posting, and they (STL) are still losing pretty regularly.

My sliders that are in the slider forum are pretty good, and allow you to unlock achievements. They need to be updated as they are not my most recent set, but are still good as are right now. I will update that thread when I return from summer vacay (WED).

                              Tigers Franchise-All Star Break

Well, i've just reached the allstar game with my tigers, playing about a third of the games so far. tigers are just 2 and a half back from the Twins, w/ a record of 47-34, in the central, while the yankees lead the east and rangers lead the west. brandon inge is surprisingly leading the league in rbi's, w/ 74. miguel cabrera is just 10 rbi's behind him, and is second in the league in hr's. damon has 40 rbi's, and a .297 avg batting out of the 2 hole. and another big surprise has been ryan raburn, who bats out of leadoff spot, with 27 steals, a .312 avg, and 12 hr's. ive had magglio batting out of the 4 hole, and he has a .331 avg. my rotation has been solid, with verlander leading the way w/ 12 wins and a 3.97 era, and is leading the league in strikke-outs. porcello has a 4.34 era w/ 8 wins, and scherzer has a 3.34 era w/ 7 wins. the back of my rotation has been problematic. duchsherer is 5-10 w/ a 5.2 era, and bonderman is 6-8 w/ a 5.71 era. im thinking about trading valverde, who's struggling too, for another starter. alright, thats it. thoughts?

Who did you trade for duchscherer? Or was he a free agent? I say stick with Valverde, he's been good for me in my Tigers franchise, but if he keeps struggling in yours it might be worth it to see who u can get.

You must be using the original rosters if Raburn is the leadoff hitter. I waited as long as I could until the first roster ratings overhaul was released, and Raburn was dropped from 79 to 69 lol.
