Re: MLB 2K10 Official "My Player" Thread

Hi All, i'm a newbie here at this website but I've been browsing these forums for a while.

Anyways, on topic. My Player mode is absolutely addicting for me. I can't put it down. Right now, my SP that I have is halfway through his first year of professional baseball. I got "drafted" by the Mariners, and after 7 or 8 starts and a savage .98 ERA in AA, I got called up to play in the big leagues. Sp far, I am 3-2 with a 2.80 ERA and 30 SO. I know, it's not the greatest, but I am so hooked. I had a chance to beat the Yankees just now, it was 2-2, bottom of the ninth, 2 outs. I had let the bases get loaded, but then struck out back to back guys. Then...the manager pulled me. The relief pitcher came in and allowed a walk-off Grand Slam to Mark Teixeria. BAM! and who got the Earned Runs for that?.... Anyways, I'm thouroughly enjoying it. Right now, the M's are in 3rd place in the west, only 4.5 back of the rangers.

Re: MLB 2K10 Official "My Player" Thread

The mode is really hard to put down. I keep saying last game, then I'm playing 5 more.

I did a random draft where I went to the PLAY BALL screen, choose the NL All Stars, then hit Random Team and got the A's (irony!). Maybe next season they will have the cpu draft you.

I too started really bad in AA and worked my way up . I think it was around 35-40 games I played before I got called up. most of that was my fault because I did not understand how to put in the skill points and never paid attention to SPEED which is a goal to to have at 65 to get called up.

I got called up and it was great. The annoucers called my name, said how it was my first game, etc.. etc.... Very nice authentic touch. I was doing really well in AA and could scorch the ball and I ended up with about 5 hrs. But in the MLB it is very hard. I am finally hitting and got my avg up to about .290 but they are really weak hits I am getting. I am not as nearly a big hitter as I was in AA, which makes sense because the ratings of the MLB pitchers are much better. I think overall I am at a skill level of 67 so that is probably why I'm such a weak hitter.

Fielding wise they finally gave me a shot to start at CF since it looks like they gave a break to the starting CF. He came back next game so I was back at SS. That was cool to see.

Re: MLB 2K10 Official "My Player" Thread

I was just logging on to b*tch about my sub .200 BA and then I went 3/4 with a HR short of the cycle. I'm a SS called up from AA after about 35 games or so. I batted .288 in the minors and quickly started whiffing left and right in the majors. I'm playing for the Twins, now batting a weak .230 and an overall 68. I hit 1 HR in the minors and haven't come close in the bigs. Twins are 3.5 games back at the end of August. White Sox are leading the division. Hopefully my 3/4 performance can be repeated - too many O'fers lately!! Really enjoying My Player and love comparing my stats with others.

I'm 90 games in and still in minors. I've met all of my ratings goals, but my stats goals are below the required scores.

Wondering if anyone is having this problem

I'm an SP for phillies in my third season
after 2010 we don't resign werth (Which is fine) but he sat in FA the whole season

after 2011 we don't sign hamels rollins or howard, hamels and rolling sign howard is still sitting in FA

It seems after a little research in the organization summary/roster my phillies have -255.52 million dollars of available funds (yes negatve) so well we never sign FAs. I mean 2010 were WS champs, 2011 made it to the playoffs. Doesnt make sense.

When I started, I couldn't hit to save my life. I was able to just make all of my goals to get called up to the big club after about 40 or so games. Once I got the big leagues I struggled mightily. My average hovered around the Mendoza line (.200) for much of the season, but as I improved my ratings, so did my average, to the point where I was at .250 near the end of the year. Also, while my performace improved, so did the team's.

When I first was called up the Pirates were second to last in the Central and around 13 games out....in July. Wasn't looking to promising However, we went on a tear as I got hot and won something like 13 of 15 and quickly improved to second place, well behind the first place Astros. It wasn't until late August that I realized we might have a shot at the Wild Card. Pirates. Wild Card. Not often do those go together.

Sure enough, as we came up on the last 2 weeks of the season, we were within 1.5 games of the Wild Card. After sweeping the Cardinals in St. Louis, we were in sole possession of the WC spot with 4 games to go and a 1 game lead. We went to Florida to finish out the season and tried to hold off the Mets. Unfortunately, our bullpen (which along with starting pitching had been our achilles heel) blew two leads late and we ended the eason TIED with the Mets.

A week later we played a one game playoff with the Mets in NY and won. It was actually pretty exciting being in a pennant race and actually sweating the outcomes for once. Unfortunately, our Cinderella run had to end and we were eliminated in the first round 3-1 by the Diamondbacks.

Now I'm back in Spring training, hoping to get revenge on those snakes.

Overall, this My Player thing is very engrossing and addicting!

i see some of you guys really strugglin to hit..i wish i had that problem to make it more real. but im hitting around .350 in AA currently..all be it i now am rated a 68 with my contact and power ratings all in the mid 60s..except for Left handed power..which i held at a 59 because i want to stay in AA till the end of the year to increase my overall as much as possible. i guess my question is are you guys playing on the default all star setting or pro? because ive used a lot of different combinations of sliders trying to make it more difficult..

This mode is fun. I just finished my first season. Was called up in early August to the Royals who at the time were in 1st place, and continued to stay there, and made the playoffs. I hit .295 with 10 HR 45 RBIs. Playing 3B was fun, I decided to request a move to RF for season 2. Playing outfield is definitely different, but so far a little disappointed that I dont seem to have much control over where I am throwing to after a catch is made, though i have not had many opportunities with runners on base either.

My time in AA was solid, I also hit over .350 in AA. I struggled in the beginning with hitting, but once I got that under control my average jumped quickly.

I started a second My Player as a pitcher with the Cubs (I wanted to still be an occassional hitter, so I went with the National League team), and I like the change, although getting speed is going to prove difficult for the basepaths, but defensive and pitching buildup are going to be very fun, games take a little longer too.

The only videogame baseball game I played all 162 games plus playoffs was high heat 2003. But this game in MY PLAYER mode, I see myself playing all the games this season and all the following seasons. It's just that fun.

My A's are on a 11 game losing streak and I am struggling in the big leagues but I don't care
I am having so much fun with this mode. There really is a sense of accomplishment when you do get your player to do well in this mode. Like all the others, I really started of sucking in AA but I worked my way to a decent player. Really felt like I had to work hard to accomplish that. Now I am struggling in the MLB but I am loving the challenge. My team may not make the playoffs this year, but at least I want to get my player to being a decent hitter/fielder and then see what the cpu does next season to improve the team. If they still suck next year, I'll see if I can be asked to be traded.

Re: MLB 2K10 Official "My Player" Thread

I made a SP and signed with the brewers. I was called up to the majors after 5 starts completing all 5 games with only 1 ER. Finished out that season strong and won rookie of the year. I played every start of the next full season winning almost every award possible. We won the World Series. I was named SP for the All-Star Game, Cy Young winner, ect... I had a record of 25-2 with 313 SOs, 1.68 ERA, and 1.01 WHIP! I am an overall 85 now with most my stats at 99 but only 3 pitches which is what is holding me back.

I wanted to change position to 1B but I'm not sure if the game will let u change from SP to any other position. Does anyone know if that is possible? I can't seem to figure it out...

I would like to keep playing this character instead of starting over.

                        Thanks in advance

For some reason, despite having 90 power against RHP my guy can't hit any bombs. For awhile there, I was smacking them over the wall left and right but since then I can barely hit 1 HR every few weeks. I'm at 8 HR and nearing the end of June. Maybe I should stop using the power swing all the time, but I don't know. Still having a blast though.

something that annoys me about my player as a middle infielder ... never being the guy that turns the double play. They only ever let you start the double play, there should be plays where you have to turn it and maybe even ratings that govern it.

After hoovering around .250 with my shortstop I finally reached .300 around the beginning of September. The Twins are a game and a half out of first place behind the White Sox right now. Despite hitting .300 I'm still batting 7th, but probably reasonable considering a rookie might feel too much pressure any higher in the lineup.

I agree with doctorhay53, as a SS I've never turned the DP I've only had to toss the ball over to the second baseman. I wish there were plays where I had to get to the bag, catch the ball and make the throw to first.

And as far as HR's go. I've got 79/80 power and have hit I think 8 in 25 games. I notice when I do best for the long ball is when I hold left on the left stick (RH batter) and wait for an inside high pitch and power swing. I've hit some bombs that way and it allows me to wait for my pitch. If I get 2 strikes behind then I switch to contact without the left stick. Unless I can time an outside pitch, then I'll push right on the left stick to push a hit to the opposite field.

I'm all disappointed in myself, I managed to keep my ERA under 2.00 the first two season, I came into season 3 and had a terrible spring training and continued into the start of the regular season playing poorly. I think I'm at like 3.04 now.

Also I'm a relief pitcher, which makes a 3.00+ era even worse.
