Re: MLB 2K10 Official "My Player" Thread

I just started playing this mode last friday and i am officially hooked. I've had the game since release but stopped playing because of random annoying issues in franchise and this mode never worked. I just want to say that i think this mode was a huge success and it captures baseball in a way other sports games don't because of the individual nature of hitting, and how you're only really involved in some plays.

I started as a centerfielder for the mets, and i quickly moved up in the organization's rankings. I intially hope i would be the CF of the future with beltran moving to RF, but i figured i would play RF for my first couple of seasons in the bigs. My plan was to stay in the minors long enough to be a top player in the bigs when i finally got called up so i increased everything except my players catch rating until i decided i wanted to get called up. I haven't played infield yet, but outfield was a lot of fun and even though MP had terrible arm strength i was able to play a decent CF.

I got bored eventually with AA, and also i think the game started robbing me of hits as some sort of fail safe to keep a player from being to good in AA to achieve a crap load of points easily and increased my catch rating and got called up. I found myself as the starting C for the Mets in the bigs, at which point i accidently realized i made my secondary position catcher instead of right field. I learned how to field the position almost immediately, and in my first full season after a month and a half i'm on pace for 92 homers and 223 RBI.

Rediculous numbers aside, the game has been overall lots of fun. Still, making players better defensively initially, or allowing more defensive points to be earned could make the game more fun.

Also, as a catcher i'm limited to fielding bunts, catching pop ups and fielding accidental bunts (crappy hits) and throwing to first base. I've never had to throw a guy out or block the plate, which could make the game fun. If there could be an option to play the whole game defensively instead of simming every play it might be fun for some users.

Otherwise, i was surprised at how much fun i had with this game mode, and if anything will pick up next years title just to playe it again.

How many seasons will MY PLAYER mode go for until it ends? And when it ends do we get forced into retirement or can we go for as long as we'd like until we get cut from the team and nobody wants to sign us? Thats how it should be. One thing I think that should also be put in is contract negotiating, money/years... I love the game and this mode! I am currently playing 2 my player modes, one I am a pitcher and the other I am a catcher. My pitcher is an ace, I just struck out over 300 batters in a season and won 26 games. My pitcher is in the 5th season. My catcher is in the 2nd season and I passed all time season hit streak and I have 52 hrs, 160 RBI, 28 SB but 30 CS! Also my avg. is .356

thats awsome! I am still trying to throw a perfect game or even a no hitter. I came close LOTS of times, but in the 9th 2 outs I seem to give up that ONE HIT! ouch! I have thrown 21 shutouts in a season and 28 complete games. The most I have struck out was 19! I tossed 17 a few times and my avg. k/9 is 13.8 and my k/bb was 114/1!

Wow the infield for 2A takes the worse angles ever... I know they are in 2A but if thats the standard then my whole High school team can play 2A. One inning I pitched great go those slow grounders. instead of cutting it off he runs to the outfield like he is going to chase it.....

Thinking of getting 2k11. About how long does it take to play game in My Player mode if you're a hitter? Also, how long does it take to play a game if you're a starting pitcher? This mode sounds like a great way to play a 162-game season in a much shorter time.

Also, can you opt to play select compete games, for example if there is a key game late in the season, while in this mode?
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

Games go by very quickly as a hitter. In my rookie season I think I played through the entire year in maybe 5 or 6 hours of gameplay. It's been a while though - I gave the game to my dad when I stopped playing my PS3 and haven't picked it up on my 360 since the switch.

It is a lot of fun as a hitter although the game/mode aren't very polished. Hoping they step up with 2k11.

A whole game literally takes about 15 minutes tops if you're just batting. And honestly I enjoy that for those trophies/achievements to win a title or something, makes it quicker to get them and then focus on your game.
I can't wait to really focus on My Player mode next month, should be a lot of fun with the new fielding
Why did I move here? I guess it was the weather.

I wonder if, with the new fielding in place, teams wil sub you out in the latter innings. I'm assuming that when you first begin, your fielding attributes will be very low. I just hope the logic is suitable for all game modes. I wouldn't want the CPU manager to be biased toward me just because its "my player" mode.

So I've been trying to get into the Hall of Fame before 2k11 comes out and i'm a closer and my first season in the majors was 2015. I'm now in 2022 and I only need 3 more career goals to get into the HOF. I've played 550 total games with this closer and have almost 288 MLB saves, and my Career ERA is 1.39. The career goals I think I should already have is 6 seasons with an ERA under 3.00 and having 100 scoreless appearances. I know i'm in my 7th season in the majors and i've never had an ERA over 2 so I don't know why that one hasn't been registered yet. But I have no idea how to track scoreless appearances and if I make the all star game this with be my 5th time so I'll get that goal. and i have 350 out of 500 k's for that goal. But can anyone shed some light into the 6 seasons goal and the scoreless appearances? I feel as if it's glitched and I am wasting all my free time before tuesday going for this. Thanks!

Does anyone know if you change the difficulty to rookie then back to pro if it doesnt allow you to get the achievements?(in my player mode) i had it on rookie for a few games but it was ridiculous so i set it back to pro. i had a walk off hr and it didnt look like i got the achievement but when i switched it back to rookie the message came up "you will no longer receive achievements" which made me think i should if i have it on pro now? anyone, any ideas?

i guess i should also add im in AAA do i need to be in the majors?
