Hitting is impossible! HELP!
Hitting is impossible on all star. Not enough contact. What am I Doug wrong? Does the left stick affect hitting? Seems when I place the left stick in the area of the pitch it messes it up more. No power whatsoever from anyone, just a bunch of punch and Judy singles. This isn't realistic at all. What am I doing wrong? My guys are swinging and missing by entire feet. Ugliest swings I've ever seen. Struck out 17 and then 12 timesTags: None -
Re: Hitting is impossible! HELP!
Lower the difficulty, and learn to get the timing down. If you can't hit on All-Star, try Pro or Rookie. They created sliders an difficulty settings for a reason. -
Re: Hitting is impossible! HELP!
Maybe you didn't read it correctly. I just won a game 4 to 3 and it was a bloop fest. You didn't really add much there you just stated the obvious. I want to know how to improve my hitting on all star difficulty. What does the left joystick do to a swing? Why does the swing stick work only when using no left stick? You can basically put it in play with every hitter but there are no line drives, and no fly balls deep. The power swing stick seems to not work at all. It's non existentComment

Re: Hitting is impossible! HELP!
I took Jayhawk's advice and posted in another thread about doing rookie. It's good I can play rookie batting and all-star pitchingComment

Re: Hitting is impossible! HELP!
I actually agree, having a VERY difficult time hitting on All-Star. Even when I'm not early or late, for some reason I'm just not making a lot of contact. I'm going to raise User Contact and Power to about 50, that should make it a bit more realistic.Comment

Re: Hitting is impossible! HELP!
hitting in baseball games (especially with the hit stick) takes ALOT of getting use to. In time you'll get the hang of it and be crushing all pitching in no time. In my first week or so of playing I can barely hit the ball on pro difficulty, but once I get the hang of it I can usually hit pretty well on all-star.Comment

Re: Hitting is impossible! HELP!
Thing is about playing on rookie/pro, that one guy said he homered with Derek lee 20 times in 30 games. That's not really what I want either.Comment

Re: Hitting is impossible! HELP!
With 2K8, I could not pitch to save my life. I finally dropped pitching down to the bare bones easiest setting. As I began to dominate, I would increase the difficulty. I eventually had the meter on the hardest setting.
Dropping down will hwlp you improve so that you can move back up to All-Star.
Regardless, I buy games to enjoy them. I don't need to play at at any certain level to enjoy the game. I happily play NHL 10 at lower difficulties. But again, as my season went on, if the game felt to easy, I just cranked up the sliders.
I think we get confused about what the sliders are there for, because we want those sim results so bad. But they probably should not be universal. They let you find your skill level so you can enjoy the game. And some people enjoy the struggle, while others want to dominate.Comment

Re: Hitting is impossible! HELP!
I hear ya. I can't hit any hr's. I can get tons of singles with just cotact swing but every time I try a power it ends up being a foul ball or something really weak for an out. Usually a foul though.Mariners Seahawks Sonics UW Sounders

Re: Hitting is impossible! HELP!
I bought the game today. I am new to the 2K series and haven't played a baseball game since MVP06, and it really showed.
My first game, I was the Reds and I played the Rays. Playing on default difficulty (Pro?) I lost 2-1. I got the hang of the pitching system quickly, and it was a lot of fun. However, I looked horrible at bat. I managed two singles, two doubles, and one run. David Price stuck me out 15(!!!) times. His strike/ball ratio was like 74/5 or something crazy like that. I swung at everything, and more often than not I was way early or way late.
I think it's one of those things that you just need to get used to.Comment

Re: Hitting is impossible! HELP!
I played a game last night with an OSer (footballforevaOS) and it was Mets vs Royals. None of us could really hit, but he did smack one out and eventually won the game. It has been awhile since I actually played a baseball game too, since I last purchased The Show 08 and The Show 09 I only rented and I was never good at hitting in that game either. Rome wasn't built in a day, neither are batting skills in 2K10. It'll eventually come.Comment

Re: Hitting is impossible! HELP!
It sounds like you want Madden IQ in here.
The sliders and difficulty settings are there because everyone plays differently.Comment
