Re: I have never had this much trouble hitting

I try to work the count until they pitch a fastball right down the middle. Most of the time I lay off the first pitch and keep an eye for any strikes that are low, so I can foul those off. When they make a mistake and pitch it down the middle I aim with the left stick and do a contact swing.

Re: I have never had this much trouble hitting

I played a bit this morning and it really helps to take the strike zone off. Without the box there, it gives you a better sense of what the pitch is and it's speed without being hindered visually by the box. My timing was instantly better after taking it off.

My only other problem is lack of power. Ive played with some powerful teams and even with properly timed hits, I cant seem to punch one out. However, this is still on Pro default Human power levels, so I'm gonna raise it a good bit and then tweak from there.

Yep, turning the strike zone off is the way to go. It's much less distracting with it off.

I love how good working the count feels in this game. Very rewarding.

I can hit much better now by turning off the batters eye, but I still have the strike zone on. I'm playing the Nats and I just won my first game against the Rockies 15-0. I need to tweak sliders now that I have hitting down. Ryan Zimmerman got 4-5, 1 HR, 2 RBI's, and Elijah Dukes got 3-5 2 HR, 3 RBI's.

Had Scott Olsen on the mount who got the shutout. Pitching seems too easy even with RBJ's custom sliders...gonna tweak CPU hitting and User pitching some.

I don't understand...is it the difficulty? I mash on Pro, and mainly because I, well....battle. I foul off lots of crappy pitches, and eventually draw a walk or poke a base hit into the shallow outfield.

Re: I have never had this much trouble hitting

Well for me, it apparently was the strike box. But like I said and others have agreed, the batting animations arent consistent. That doesnt make a difference all the time, but sometimes it does. When I get in a zone, I can tack on 3-4 runs, but I still cant hit homeruns, even with people like Pujols and Arod.

Blazzen has some really good sliders as well.

Re: I have never had this much trouble hitting

I have trouble when I'm not paying attention but I learned to just wait on the pitch you want.

Worst case, you're sitting 0-2 and have to play defense, but it happens. That was the biggest problem with me.. not being patient and swinging at crazy breaking balls.

Batters eye is the thing that guesses what's coming and where right? Whenever I see a change or fastball coming in the middle of the zone, my eyes light up, because most of the time I can knock it out of the park.

And yes. Getting a base hit in this game is very rewarding. Hitting a HR is incredibly rewarding. Hitting a grand slam the other day to win my game in extra innings made me want to dance.

Turning off the strike zone made a huge difference for me. I can tell balls from strikes much earlier.

Pitching without it was a bit weird at first, but I got used to it after a game or two.

Re: I have never had this much trouble hitting

Yeah, I am struggling big time on Defalut All-Star. I got no-hit yesterday by the Yankee's with the Rangers... It was brutal, I have never been no-hit before on any baseball game ever.

Funny thing was, the Yankee's had A.J Burnett pitching the no-no through 7 and they took him out lol... That's nice, they felt sorry for me and put in Chan Ho Park... Still could not hit him.

Timing must be just perfect on this game... A little to early, you miss, a little to late, the best you can do is foul it off. If I am facing a pitcher that throws a lot of change-ups... You can forget about it. 15 K's at least for me.

I'm sticking with it though, it's very rewarding to actually hit with these tough conditions. Same settings yesterday, I hit a 450 bomb over da Monstaaa with Pat Burrell. It was awesome.

Yea thats what I love about 2k10 is when you face a good pitcher, you really have to be patient and play your game or they will eat you alive.

Zambrano got 13 K's on me last night and the Cubs beat me 5-3. He changed up his speeds and locations so well, and had me rattled most of the game.

If you've got the right slider set for realistic baseball, you just have to work the pitcher.... patience, get in good hitting counts to earn your fastballs in the middle of the zone. Hit for contact with two strikes. Every pitch you make him throw, every extra pitch is to your advantage. Foul stuff off if you can. Its very realistic in the sense that against the best pitchers you will K a lot and you will struggle to score and have less pitches to hit. Then there's some mediocre guys you can really destroy.

Re: I have never had this much trouble hitting

I just can't seem to find any consistency. I beat the Red Sox 4-2, but Dice-K had a no-no going through the 7th. My problem was that I had no patience to sit and wait through his 6-second long delivery.

The only way I won was because they put in Papelbon and I strung together a couple base hits and Morneau ended it with a walk-off shot that left the stadium entirely.

My main problem is using the left stick. I don't realize I am even using it until I hit a shallow fly ball and notice that I am still holding up on the left stick.

Hitting is very difficult for me, but I am going to try to play a couple games using the aforementioned method of going left stick-less, and relying on timing only, which should solve my fly-ball problem.
