How many games do you play in your Franchise?
I was wondering if ya'll play the full schedule, half a schedule, etc. This is my first baseball game in a while(although it is my favorite sport), but in games like Madden, you only have to play 17-20 games, but with baseball, its a heck of a lot more. Do ya'll play all your games, sim some, or just shorten the season? I thought about maybe playing the rubber game in all of the series, just to make it full stats, but not having to play every game. Any advice?Go Cocks!!! 2010 and 2011 CWS Champs!!! BACK 2 BACK

I personally play all 162 games, but this year i'm doing something new. I'm controlling all 30 teams and playing a game with each in alphabetical order. I played opening day with the angels, then the next game i played with the astros etc etc. This way i get to admire all the ball parks, and get to use some great players. Since im a d backs fan, the best player i would normally get to use is mark reynolds. now i get a chance to hit with pujols and a rod. its really alot of fun.Last edited by panthers_freak; 03-08-2010, 03:21 PM. -
Re: How many games do you play in your Franchise?
I have a OCD with sports games. All statistics in season mode must come from my gameplay. Always been this way ever since I was a kid. If the CPU get's any stats for my team, that frachise is "Tainted" and I could not play it anymore.
It's a sickness really, but, at least I don't have to worry about the depth of franchise mode in Basketball and Baseball games... I rarely get through year one before... A. I grow tired of the game or B. It's time to buy the next seasons version.
Repeat process...Comment

I play a full 162 game season, playing about 2/3 and simming the other 1/3. Basically what I do is this; I play the first 2 games of a 3 game series (or first 3 of a 4 game set) and sim the final game of each series. This helps me get through more than one season while still giving me a chance to pitch with my entire rotation.Comment

Re: How many games do you play in your Franchise?
I have my own little system. I usually play one game in each series. I look at who is ppitching and who they are pitching against. If one of my pitchers isn't doing to well then ill play his start or ill just play whichever matches looks the most enticing or which pitcher I enjoy playing the most with. All of those things go Omg my decision. Also depends on the playoff race.Comment

I play 3 then I sim the next 2. So I only use the 1st 3 pitchers in my rotation.MLB: Boston RedSox
NFL: Tennessee Titans
NBA: Dallas Mavericks
NCAA: Washington Huskies

Re: How many games do you play in your Franchise?
I play every game, but I am able to get in at least 3 maybe 4 games a day during the week, so it's much easier for me.
For you, there are many methods you could choose. Here's one I haven't seen mentioned, and I think you might like it.
Play the #1 pitchers's game, then simulate to and play the #2 pitchers next game(not the one the next day, but the start after that), then simulate to and play the #3 pitchers next game...and so on.
So what you're doing is playing 1 game, and then simulating 5 games. That way you don't have to play all the games, and you get to pitch with different pitchers. Then later in the season if your team is in it, you can play all the games if you want.
Or like you mentioned in your first post, you could just play 1 game a series.Comment

Re: How many games do you play in your Franchise?
This is exactly what I do, with one tweak; full 162-game season (to help compare stats), but I play a different pitcher's start each time through the rotation. Then if one guy is struggling when simmed I either rotate him out or give him more starts played by me. I also generally play every game in all of the series against my division rivals (until they fall completely out of the race, then they just go under the normal rotation system). This preserves the user's involvement in the division race while not making you play all of your games.
So I usually end up playing somewhere between 60 and 80 games per season. It's still a lot but you get to feel like you managed your club through the entire, grueling 162-game season without playing every single game. And the division race is still entirely in your hands.Comment

Re: How many games do you play in your Franchise?
It really depends on how many you can and want to play. If you want to play the rubber game only then do that. If you want to play them all, do that.

Re: How many games do you play in your Franchise?
I used to play 1 game each series, but I like the game so much this year and it does have in-game saves, so I'm trying another system.
Play all out of division games and one of every three intradivision games until Sept. If I'm still in the race I'll play every game.Comment

Re: How many games do you play in your Franchise?
Do you still play every game when the playoffs are way out of sight ?
I highly doubt that people play EVERY game and don´t simmed a couple.
For me, i roll a dice after every game that i played. When it comes the 1 then i play my next game, when it will be a 6, than i play the 6th game after my last game.
Exceptions are when i play against my own division rivals, than i play EVERY game in every series.Last edited by Dirkk1974; 03-31-2010, 05:15 AM.Comment

Re: How many games do you play in your Franchise?
The fatigue in this game is really done poorly though and it hurts the franchise mode. The cpu AI in how it handles its staff is bad and the fatigue bug for starters is there. The game doesn't handle DH fatigue well at all either. It treats it like any other position when it should be treated like 1/2 a day off. DHs should not get tired. Furthermore, if you pinch hit with anyone it gives them a full day's fatigue. Even if you just hit once and go back to the bench I had a guy lose 5 points off his stamina. So you are hesitant to pinch hit when resting a guy because he will get more tired. Makes no sense.
Also, fatigue in shortened seasons is broken in this game. I tried running the shortest season in this game with SF and you play about twice a week over the course of the full calender. But every day they removed to reduce the schedule acts as an off day. They should have made those off days = 1/3 rest days to balance it out. You could probably use a 2 man rotation and never use your bench if you wanted to do something like that. Without injuries it hurts the game as well.
This area needs to be patched big time.Comment
