Re: Seems like lefties only hit backside bombs

There is no glitch but the opposite field power in this game is clearly overdone which is the real problem. Big power guys like Ryan Howard can power the ball over the fence at any part of any ball bark. But the 15 to 20 HR guy has to pull most of his HRs because that's where a hitter's power is. This game rewards late swings with a ton of opposite field power. It makes no distinction between pull and push power. I wish the game would recognize that pulling power should be a lot more or break the power slider down into 2 categories - pull and opposite field power.

JayBruce - if you find you are pushing your HRs too much you might consider dropping pitch speed down to help you pull more of them.

I'm playing a Tiger season and Johnny Damon has 4 HRs for me and 3 of them were opposite field shots. Yet at Yankee stadium last year, he pulled EVERY single one of his HRs.

Go to MLB.com and check any player you want. The medium HR hitter pulls almost all his home runs. The game does a poor job with this.

That's a relief lol. I felt like the dumbest guy ever for thinking Werth was only a righty. Phew.

Saw Chase Utley pull one off me in the demo.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace

Re: Seems like lefties only hit backside bombs

It's probably the result of the new hitting model and people not being able to get around inside pitches early enough to take them out of the park, or at least not time them easily enough. As for me, my swing mechanic seems to be the only one out of everybody's copy of the game that is slow and unresponsive. As a result, I get pissed off when batting quite often when I don't have enough time to ever time pitches, especially inside pitches.

I know that my brother's TV had input lag - do you have a Sammy Blzer? I think the Sammy's had the same issue as the Show. I don't have a problem with the responsiveness on my LG.

I do agree that the bat speed is slow but it's set that way for default pitch speed (at least on Pro setting). Everyone wants to jack up pitch speed because the pitches look slow coming in and then they never turn on pitches because you can't adjust the bat speed. I keep pitch speed down and I just turned on a Kerry Wood fastball with Carlos Guillen and hit a 3 run HR to right this morning.

This isn't something i'm imagining. It exists if you play on one of the greater difficulties. Just another part of this game that is broken out of the box.

Same, I have pulled more homeruns to right then backside ones to left, with lefties. Howard and Ibanez smash them to right all the time

Yet he also mentioned lefties that he has pulled homers with.

It's not the game, man. It's us. We're not getting around the pitches quick enough.

I've started pulling some bombs... It just takes practice and perfect timing.

This has absolutely nothing to do with input lag, though I understand what you're talking about. If this was the case, I would have issues with The Show while batting. I would have issues with 2K while pitching. I would have issues with Rock Band while strumming. I can notice the slightest of delays with those games, but it is ever so slight that average gamers don't see it (supposedly). But this... this is so marginal, that it frustrates me beyond belief. As someone that has no problem seeing the pitch with the slider on 100, I have to have it on 75 to be even remotely successful because of the unresponsiveness. It's awful.

Yeah I've been seeing guys crush opposite field HRs in Citifield to the deepest part of the park in RF, where I believe the wall is 16 feet high. Last night Russel Martin did it, nothing against Martin but the only guys I could ever see hitting HRs like that are Pujols and A-rod
