Anyone concerned about lack of info?

You'd think after this week's info on the Show, 2k would be trying to keep up. I haven't heard or seen anything about 2k11...last year's game was SO close. I really liked it . I hope I can do 2 baseball games this year...but I'm worried about what they have or haven't changed.

Yeah, 2K doesn't play the hype game very well. But then, with what we have seen the last three years, it would just get the trolls rolling earlier. It could actually be counter-productive.

Worried? No. This is the same cycle as every year. 2K normally releases a teaser pic or coverboy info first...pause...The Show releases a lot of meaningful info......pause....2K starts releasing a bunch of info...then both games have a fairly steady flow of info until release.

We'll get everything we need in plenty of time to make our judgments before release. It can be frustrating (as a lot of us feel we need the 2K info more than The Show's to make a decision) but it's not really concerning IMO.

              Indeed.

I do hope they step their game up, but nobody can hate on those of us who have no hype or anticipation due to what has become of this series. Take it one day at a time I guess.

lol...I get what you're saying (I have my own concerns about the game's quality), but my only point was it's two separate issues. 2K's ridiculously bad marketing is not limited to their baseball and has nothing to do with the quality.

I am sure they will have something..........eventually! For the past couple of years they race to get the cover-boy out first and then take a siesta for a little bit before info starts to flow again.

Well those of us who actually like the game are seeing improvements since Visual concepts took over, and since 2k10 was an improvement over 2k9 some of us are actually a bit hyped to see what VC can do in 2 and 1/2 years of development. NBA2k11 is one of the best sports games ever, and since the same development house is making this game. It gives many people hope.

Yup, and it's something I wish 2k would change. They're the one's that have things to prove so you would think they would want to show as much info as possible to hype their product, but they don't which is sad.

Re: Anyone concerned about lack of info?

I should have unpacked my original post a little better. As people have said, this is how they do it every year.

I was hoping/thinking/praying that this year, with vc having the game a lot longer now, that they would have some awesome improvements they couldn't wait to tell us about.

So since they don't seem to be in a rush to announce anything revolutionary, etc...I'm concerned this game will be a lot like 2k10- which was fun, but needed improvements. I would think they'd want to tell the consumers about how they've fixed everything. Since they don't seem to be telling us much, I wonder if we'll just see incremental improvement again, which would be good, but not the great I was hoping for.

Re: Anyone concerned about lack of info?

I just hope they learned from last year, and do not ship a game with basic fundamentals (check swings, errors, injuries) not in. That would be a good start.

And all the talk about NBA2K team working on it, it sure showed with the lack of baseball sense with that decision.

Just because they make one gem (NBA2K), does not mean they have the mindsets to make a totally different sport another gem. There is always two ways to looking at it.

Get the fundamentals down, and go from there.

Despite the lack of those fundamentals, it was a pretty decent game last year. There were certain things they did that were really good (the commentary, ballparks, sig styles, MLB Today, etc.). Overall, it was a good effort by VC and I enjoyed it for the most part.

I think they have a fairly good chance of building on it and putting out an excellent game this year.

With that said, there's also a chance they'll mess it up. I'm waiting until the demo, and if it's not up to snuff, I'm going to seriously look into upgrading from a PS2 to a PS3.

I will give you that, not thrilled about the stadiums though in comparison. But all that presentation means nothing to me, if your core fundamentals are not there. Nor the gameplay as well.

I do hope it will improve, since that dev team does put out a stellar basketball product. But baseball is a totally different sport, obviously.

                              Competition is a good thing.
