Started my new 2011 franchise playing ( 162 games ) the Cardinals, I traded Adam Wainwright because he's hurt and out for the season anyway to the Rangers for Nelson Cruz. Lost first game 2-1 but came back today with a 7-2 victory so I am 1-1 for the new season, u got to love baseball !!!!!

Note: Colby Rasmus out for 5 days heal injury

      Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress

Usually play with my Tribe but I cant seem to do it again this year, its getting boring. I can stand the AL Central for one more year!

Started a 162 with the D-Backs and simmed right to opening day. Game one was a beauty. I was up 3-2 after the 7th inning and cruising along until Ian Kennedy ran out of gas and I barely got out of the 7th in tact. I bring in Juan Gutierrez who doesn't have a straight fastball, the Up then down motion on the stick, he only has a fastball that you move up and then swing around left on the stick. Well, seeing as how I was cruising with my starter I was used to the up down fastball and threw a wild pitch that hit Desmond Fowler in the back, man on no outs. Then next batter another wild pitch and man on second. Next a single gets runners on 1st and 3rd. So earlier in the game I noticed that Jose Gullien my LF who I picked up as a free agent was slower than molasses. I should have replaced him for defense and I figured...nah. Well sure as s**t next batter rips one down the left field line that I almost cut off but oh no, it rolls to the wall and both runs score by the time Guillen's tired bones get to it! Management error on my part. Anyhow that does me in and I lose 4-3 in a great game.

Game 2, I get hammered 9-0, I only managed 4 measly hits the whole game. Joe Saunders my SP was worthless. On the flip side Jason Hammel for the Rockies was un-hittable.

Game 3 was a great game, completely adverse to game 2. I was killing the ball. Daniel Hudson was lights out all game until of course he tries to field a bunt and hurts his finger(out 2-4 weeks)

I was up 10-2 in the 9th when I decided to bring in my closer JJ Putz to see what kind of stuff he has for my future save situations. Well, he was giving up hits left and right but being up by 8 I leave him in. Bases loaded up 10-3 he feeds Carlos Gonzales a fastball that ended up near the pine tress in right center of Coors Field, 10-7 now I start sweating! I go my pen and bring in David Hernandez who thank fully ends the game and I win 10-7.

I am now 1-2 and headed to Wrigley to face the Cubs. So far my offensive stars have been Miguel Montero, Russ Branyan and Steven Drew. Justin Upton had a bad series only getting 1 hit but he will pull out of it.

Lots of fun so far, I am digging a switch from playing with the Tribe and playing some National League ball for a change.

        Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress

Hey guys is thet e way that you can start a franchise so the CPU doesn't jack up with all of the lineups? It's really annoying. So is there a fix or do you have to control all 30 which is something I don't want to do. I just want to play and have the opening day rosters up.

Ironically MLB 2k11s franchise didn't have any franchise goals which makes the mode kind of disappointing.

Really? I thought those goals were antiquated, and personally I don't really miss them.

ALL 30 Teams Franchise / Playing as Phillies:

Who would be the 1st Philadelphia Phillies Starting Pitcher to get a win in 2011? Roy Halladay? Cliff Lee? Roy Oswalt? Cole Hamels? Nope. Joe Blanton. Yes, that's right 5th starter Joe Blanton. Halladay went 9 innings giving up only 2 runs, but the Phillies lost in extra innings on Opening Day. Cliff Lee went 7 innings giving up 4 runs, and received a ND in a loss. The Phillies avoided a Houston sweep, by winning the game Oswalt started, and Oswalt did not surrender a run but he had to leave early through only 4.1 innings due to a groin strain; long-man Kyle Kendrick was credited with the win. Cole Hamels started against the Mets to open the season-series w/ the division rival, but received a ND as well. He also had some rough patches in his start, walking 3 (striking out 8), and allowing a baserunner in every inning from the 2nd to 7th; the Phillies won in extra innings - but R.A. Dickey struck out 13.

So it was Joe Blanton who got the first win by a Philadelphia starter. That would make a great trivia question had it been real. Blanton would otherwise cruise through 7 innings, falling into a litte trouble in the 8th w/ a 5-2 lead. He was pulled w/ lefty Daniel Murphy coming to the plate in favor for lefty JC Romero after the Mets narrowed the gap to 5-3, and had runners in scoring position. Romero would last through the bottom of the 8th with 7th hitter Carlos Ruiz leading off the inning, and 8th hitter Wilson Valdez getting the 2nd out of the inning. Romero would pitch in the 9th against lefty Ruben Tejeda, and get the situational out. It was now Jose Contreras' job to get his 2nd SV. He would strike out the pinch hitting Willie Harris, surrender a single w/ 2 outs to Jose Reyes, but get Angel Pagan to fly out to center. Phillies win 5-3 and improve to 3-2.

            Blanton: 7.2IP, 8H, 3ER, 3BB, 5K - 2 GIDPs. Blanton's opponent, DJ Carrasco, was chased out after only 3.1 innings having surrendered 4 runs on 7 hits.

Placido Polanco was 2-5 w/ 2 RBI. John Mayberry got his first start of the year, and Ben Francisco moved over to CF due to Victorino being DTD w/ a wrist injury. Shane will give it a go in game 3 of the series which finds Halladay taking the bump against Mike Pelfrey in search of his 1st win for 2011.

I havent played this game in some years, but like franchise mode. Currently 1-1 with the Rockies.

                Franchise question:

On batter walk-ups do we always see last years stats on the overlays? I have noticed this in both my games so far. Its all good in that I can see what my players have done for the day, however...

So how about this for luck?

Opening Day, Hudson tears his rotator cuff. Out until late August.
Lopez goes out for the season with a torn elbow ligament on his first start.
Hanson sprains his knee and misses 3 weeks.
                  Lowe sprains his ankle.
Kawakami gets a stress fracture in his fingers?

That's all before May. Skip towards the end of May, I trade KK away because i need to free up money and Lowe/Hanson are back. Only they re-injure themselves on their first starts in June.

So this is my starting rotation.

Batter walk-ups will eventually show split stats, current year stats, career numbers, etc. It just shows what you'r seeing because it's the first few games of the season.

Here comes the incredible part. I'm 34-20 and have a 5.5 game lead on the Phillies. I'm leading the NL in almost all batting catagories, but almost all of my games are save situations.

I love how this game punishes you for making mistakes and not executing just like in real baseball. Bad pitches, not getting runners home when they are in scoring posiiton, bad lineup management, etc. Very well done by 2K

I am now 5-6 in my DBacks franchise and am addicted. I have had to make some call ups due to injuries, one small trade and have found myself forced to play small ball to manufacture runs because of my hitters struggling as a team, except for Russ Branyan who is hitting above .500 and has 3 HR 9RBI and Stephen Drew who is around .350.

Overall great fun so far, really digging this game. Not once have I felt cheated in a loss. I can always isolate what management mistake or missed execution/s caused me to lose the game.

                                Nicely done 2K.
