Luke Scott went down with a 1-2 month injury, which hurts as he was hitting around .300 and had 26 HRs and 85 RBIs (my #5 hitter). The one upside is that he was on a cold streak, so I solved that problem

I will probably have Felix Pie take his spot in the meantime.

One month to go and I'm 12.5 games up. I couldn't blow that lead, could I?
    Or not...

Felix went down with a wrist injury in his first week filling in for Luke Scott, so now I have to rearrange my roster/lineup. Here's what I did:

I moved Nolan Reimold out to his natural LF from 1B and used Chris Snyder to play 1B (just called up when rosters expanded). I also have Jorge Cantu to fill in at 1B on certain matchups, but his offense has been terrible this year (not the effective IF utility player I had in mind when I picked him up in FA).

The good news is that I'm WAY ahead in the standings and can easily afford some minor 2-4 injuries at this point. I'm 14.5 games ahead with exactly 3 weeks to go. This is it. I'm finally going to make the playoffs with the Orioles!

well last night I played my showdown with the Indians. I was down 0-3 in the 6th came back and Ordonez hits a 2 run single and I am down 3-2. Zack Miner allows a run in the 8th 4-2. Inge hits a sac fly 4-3 in the 8th. 9th inning Joel Z allows a triple so I bring in Valderde and he strikes out the 9th batter ( a created rookie) walks Sizemore on purpose and Cabrera hits into a double play. In the bottom of the 9th I get 2 men on but, hit into a double play to end the game. Indians now have a 2 game lead on me with 24 games left to play at 39-41 I am lucky enough to still be in the race.
      Gaming hard since 1988

I have won like 25 Super Bowls in Madden so I am kinda a big deal.

        Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress

        Update on my Orioles franchise:

I MADE THE PLAYOFFS! It was pretty much a fargone conclusion as of about a month ago (maybe two), but it was still satifying after my choke job last year. My record improved by 25 wins year over year, which was good enough to have the best record in the MLB and be 18.5 games ahead of the 2nd place Yankees. (105-57 was the final tally)

The Wild Card was interesting. Red Sox, Yankees, and Rays were all within a half game of each other at seasons end for the Wild Card (thanks to me beating the Rays 3 out of 4 ) The Yankees and Red Sox played a one game playoff to determine the spot, and the Yankees won handily, 8-0.

        Here's the playoff set-up:

        AL

        TEX vs BAL (me)

        NYY vs MIN

        NL

        MIL vs SD

        SF vs FL

        Playoff results so far:

I swept the Rangers, with only the first game of the series really being close.

TEX vs BAL = BAL 3-0

NY vs MIN = NY 3-1

MIL vs SD = MIL 3-2

SF vs FL = SF 3-1

So now it's me against the damn Yankees and Milwaukee vs the Giants on the NL side.

In the ALCS, I am up 1-0 after trouncing the Yankees 17-1 (my biggest win the entire season). I had time to reset my rotation, whereas they did not, so I expect the series to shift when we had back into Yankee Stadium and they get CC on the mound.

note: I noticed that my team's playoff numbers are carried over from the regular season, but the CPUs are not. For example, when VLAD hit a HR in the ALCS, it said it was his 45th of the postseason. Same thing under the "playoff statistics/leaders" tab in the franchise menu. Kind of a strange bug, huh?

note #2: I had two players go down with injuries late in the year, most notably Luke Scott. At the end of the year he was on a "rehab" assignment with the AAA club. At the start of the postseason, when I wanted to add him to the roster, it said he was still on a rehab assignment so he could not be called up. The problem is that the AAA season is done, so he's just sitting there, completely healthy, but I can't call him back up. That sucks.

I am currently in first place in the beginning of May in my Phillies franchise. I am believe I am 17-10 or something along those lines. Cole Hamels got injured and is out for 2-3 weeks. He was on fire. Brown has been coming along slowly, but now he is picking up steam. I have made one big trade in my franchise since Rollins was severely struggling and Michael Young.

So the trade I completed is

          Phillies receive:
          Michael Young

          Rangers receive:
          Jarred Cosart
          Domingo Santana
          Dallas Cowboys
          Philadelphia Phillies
          Philadelphia Flyers
          UFC

Playing; NHL 13, MLB 2k13, WWE13, DMC, Tomb Raider

Question for you guys that have had this game for a while.

Have any of you been able to trade for players like Pujols, Cabrera, Longoria, Cano, Halladay, Kershaw, etc... ? As I posted in a different thread, I've attempted to trade Cano, A-Rod and Tex for any of the above players and it's simply not even a discussion. Of course, I'll grant that teams have to stay under budget, but the trading engine just seems broken to me. I hate to use the overrule option because then I just feel like I'm cheating.

When you're trying to acquire them, how much time do the players have left on their contracts? How old are they? That might have something to do with it.

                  Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress

Currently 6-3 in my NY Mets 54 game franchise.

I've Siffered two major injurys Pedro Beato is out 3-4 weeks and Jose Reyes is out 4-5 Weeks, and I play with the injury slider on 10.

So I was playing the Dodgers today and Clayton Kershaw was on the mound and was doing pretty good, through seven innings he had just 1 ER 8 K, but he also had two walks.

So the 8th Inning comes around, I'm down 6-1, and he walks the first batter, then I hit two singles in a row to make the score 6-2. They bring in Garland to close out the bottom of the 8th

Next inning they bring in Johnathon Broxton who gives up a leadoff single to Scott Hairston who was pinch hitting.

Ruben Tejada, who I called up to replace Jose Reyes, bunts to get a base hit, then Angel Pagan also bunts to load the bases.

Broxton then hits Carlos Beltran which makes the score 6-3. Now David Wright walks up to the plate, no outs and the chance to be the hero, and grounds into a double play, but the run scored so it's 6-4 with a man on third.

So up comes Lucas Duda who I subed in for Jason Bay who got hurt in the 8th (Sprained Wrist 1-2 Weeks). Duda knocks in Pagan to make the score 6-5, man on first, two outs, Broxton still on the mound, and Ike Davis up to bat.

With a 2-2 count Ike Davis hits a opposite field, walk off home run to end a five run bottom of the 9th and give the Mets the win. But WAIT!

When I sat back down, after celebrating my Home Run, I sat on the Remote which changed the channel, which probably doesn't sound like a big deal right?

But since I'm using a HDMI Cable and a AV Dongle, so I could use my Turtle Beach Headset, when I change back to HDMI 1 on my TV, my Xbox restarts so that whole game never happened

My Tigers franchise is dissapointing. I'm in 3rd place with a 23-33 record. Minnesota leads the division with a 28-28 record. Everyone else is below 500. I can never string together a winning streak, but sure as hell can lose 5 in a row. Miguel Cabrera (who's a beast in this game) is leading the league in RBI's and is second in average. Nobody else is doing jack. Verlander is 6-3 and is typical Verlander, the other pitchers are just average. What can I do to pick up this franchise short of starting over?

Trade. Specifically for a 3-4 star young pitcher, like Mike Minor. Start out with pitching (because you can never have enough of it) and see what you need from there, if you need anything.

wait out that season and get a good draft pick...there are always plenty of 4-5 star pitching prospects in the draft. If you do wait for the draft always draft fielding prospects first because they seem to go a lot faster unless there is a 5 star SP prospect there always seems to be a few 5 star closer prospects.

                            Update on my Orioles Franchise:

After being up 1-0 in the ALCS against the Yankees, I was unstoppable. CC Sabathia pitched game two but I was able to eek out a 3-1 win. The rest of the series wasn't even close. I swept them in 4 games and have moved on to the World Series!

On the NL side, the Brewers and Giants went 5 games, with the Brewers winning in dramatic fashion with a walk off in the 10th inning of game 5 to win the series 4-1.

So the World Series is the Baltimore Orioles VS Milwaukee Brewers.

I reset my rotation to start with Brian Matusz, my "ace"...although his numbers don't really reflect it , and the Brewers did the same, starting Zack Greinke in Game 1.

I had home field advantage after winning the AS game, so I thought given the previous series this wouldn't be much of a challenge. Boy was I wrong.

Game 1 was a pitcher's duel with Matusz and Greinke matching wits until the 8th inning, when up 1-0 Matusz got into a bit of a jam. Since he had only given up 3 hits, I was trying to leave it in his hands, but he walked one batter and gave up a bloop hit with the 9th hitter, Carlos Gomez coming to the plate.

First pitch to Gomez, slider low and away, and he smacks a dramatic opposite field blast of a HR (even the camera angle went to a steep angle and went slo-mo for the clutch situation). I eventually lost game 1, 3-1.

Game 2 saw another tight game but my offense prevailed in a 5-1 victory after finally getting to Yovanni Gallardo in the 7th for 4 runs.

Game 3 back in Milwaukee was a derby. Fielder, Braun, and Weeks all went yard on me, but since the bases were empty, I was able to keep the damage low. In the meantime, I hit two HRs along with lots of doubles and singles with stolen bases behind them to give me an 11-4 victory. Milwaukee had left the bases loaded 3 times without getting a run, so I definitely feel I stole this victory!

Up 2-1 in the World Series, but these games have definitely gotten more challenging. I love it!

stick it out for sure man. I was 32-40 and sitting 8 games out I have won 10 of 11 and Cleveland has lost 10 of 11 I am now 42-41 1/2 game lead over Cleveland. I didn't change my sliders or anything my team is just hitting in the right spots and my relief pitching is not blowing saves anymore. Mind you this is 2k10 but, it seems the situation is still the same. I am only playing a 104 game season though and with 21 games left its do or die time now love it!!

My Giants franchise is off to a disappointing start. I'm only 2 games in, but I've lost both games, and have a combined 3 runs, both of them coming in the 2nd game.

I started the 3rd game, but I had to turn the X-Box off and take a break because I was getting incredibly frustrated and flustered, making really horrible fielding, and then the game play kind of glitched on a fielding attempt, so finally I said "I need a break", so I turned it off and went to get some dinner, lol.

Its frustrating, but it's not out of line. My starting pitching is pretty on point, but my bullpen sucks, and it's difficult to string together consecutive hits. Plus, Buster Posey got a minor injury in spring training, so he's not playing at 100%... in fact he's nowhere near 100%. And he hasn't had a hit yet in 2 games either. Also, the heart of the Dodgers lineup is deadly to me.

Early standouts: Tim Lincecum, Freddy Sanchez, Aubrey Huff, and Cody Ross.
