Here's the two scenarios I came up with...

    A) Tommy Hunter (76, 4*), Chris Davis (75, 4*), and probably a 4* single-a prospect.

    B) Tanner Scheppers (70, 5*), another player like Brandon Webb or Scott Feldman or a couple single-a 4* prospects

I think either one would be pretty fair. Option A is almost identical to the trade the Rangers made for Cliff Lee last year. They get their future 1B in Chris Davis with the other two aging and on the decline, they get a 24 year old pitcher who is major league ready in Hunter, and another player that could be on their team in a couple years.

Option B is more centered around Scheppers becoming a star. I don't really want to give him up, but for a player like Jimenez it'd be worth it.

So which do y'all think is more realistic? Them going for the Major League ready players that could help them immediately, or them going into more of a rebuilding mode and taking the prospects? The Rockies are a few games under .500, and like 10 games back in their division so it's unlikely they'll have a chance at the playoffs.
I'd say A, but the Rockies were looking for major-league ready players and prospects.

They need a major-league ready SP and probably a high-potential SP prospect (here's where the 4 star guy comes in, if you have any 4-star P).
Hunter is ready now and has some experience. He helps now, and the high potential prospect comes up and takes over Ubaldo's spot (in real-life, Drew Pomeranz is in this situation).

They also were looking for major-league ready 1B to take over for Helton when he retires. They wanted Yonder Alonso from the Reds. Chris Davis is a good piece to throw in because he can immediately come in for Helton.

I just lost Kinsler for a month and a half. He raised his average from .230 to .320 the past month too, which sucks. He broke a finger something sliding into 2nd for a steal.

Andres Blanco has done well filling in as a middle infielder so he'll get the most playing time, but the Orel Bueno era could be starting as well. He's making his major league debut in the next game since I'm playing a lefty.

Would it be weird if I changed his name from Orel to Oral? Just for laughs

        Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress

Just like on madden 11, I became addicted to the fantasy draft side of this game. So, after several attempts, I think i've finally cracked it.

What makes it interesting is the idea of 5 star prospects etc. in terms of how highly you rank them.

        So my team is

C: Jesus Montero (traded for Yadier and another 4 star prospect)
1B: Cabrera (dropped to the 2nd round!)
        2B : Phillips (traded for)
        3B: Longoria
        SS: Tulo
        LF: Belt
        CF: Rasmus
        RF: Heyward
        DH: Lawrie

        SP: Danks
        SP: Hellickson (traded for)
        SP: Liriano
        SP: Nicasio
        SP: Miley
        SU: Bard
        CL: K-Rod

Now obviously the bullpen in particular looks weak, but is made up of high potential players, as is a couple of batting spots. I'm simming most of the season and playing the occasional game, will be interesting to see how the team grows.

So, simulated pretty much the whole season, missed the playoffs

But the team has changed a lot going into year 2:

          Miggy up from a 96 to a 99! Power now 97 and 99, contact 95 and 94.

Tulo up from a 96 to a 96. Still prefers lefties, but all stats increased a bit.

Longoria up from an 87 to a 94! Serious increase against lefties and righties, and his fielding has gone from the sublime to the ridiculous - 99 in every department but range

Phillips down from an 89 to an 87 Contact decrease.

Rasmus up from 81 to 87. All stats increase.

Heyward up from 85 to 87, Lawrie, Belt and Montero (my 5 starers) all had small increases.

No huge change for the pitchers, small increases for the 5 star ones.

            Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress

I just had an incredible game against the Braves. After going down 5-0 early, I managed to bring it to 5-2 thanks to a 2-RBI double by Nelson Cruz in the 5th inning. They added another run thanks to an error in the 6th, making it 6-2. So the 7th inning comes along, and I'm not liking my chances. I manage to get a couple runners on 2nd and 3rd, but then Michael Young and Josh Hamilton struck out. Cruz steps up, and whiffs at the first two pitches before absolutely BLASTING a ball 452ft to make the game 6-5.

So the 9th inning comes around, still down by a run. Mike Napoli comes up with one out to pinch hit and blasts a double. I put Borbon in to pinch run, and move him over to 3rd by bunting with David Murphy, but the pitcher threw it away so Borbon scored and I tied the game! The inning would continue with a huge RBI double by Josh Hamilton to take the lead. Beltre also drove in Hamilton, so I took a 8-6 lead into the bottom of the 9th.

In comes Feliz to close it up. Strikes out the first batter, then McClouth hits a blooper. Feliz throws a curveball in the dirt and he tries to go to 2nd but gets thrown out. Prado comes up and hits another weak single into the outfield. Up comes Dan Uggla. I didn't want to give him anything to hit and the count wound up 3-0. Feliz throws a curveball, it hangs, Uggla hammers it. Tie game 8 each.

Long story short, the game went 17 innings before it was finally decided. David Murphy hit a 2-out home run in the top of the 17th which wound up being the deciding run.

Some interesting facts about the game...
            --Both teams used 8 pitchers
--My team struck out 23 times, the Braves 21
--Jurrjens struck out 13, including the first 7 outs he recorded
--Elvis Andrus was the only starting position player not to reach base, going 0 for 7

              Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress

Another huge injury for me, losing Colby Lewis for 40 days. Alexi Ogando got injured very early in the season and still has 2-3 months to go as well.

The injuries are making me have to start thinking about making moves earlier than I'd like. I'm not sure if I want to go ahead and pull the trigger on getting Ubaldo Jimenez, or go for an average pitcher like Luke Hochevar. I've also considered trading for Mark Prior to try and bring him back to greatness.

I did go ahead and make one move, trading a couple minor league players to get Bill Hall from the Astros. With Kinsler out for another month and a half, I didn't want to have to rely on a rookie 2nd baseman so I went after the most realistic option that I could find. In his first at bat as a Ranger, Hall hit an RBI double. He also hit a home run later in the game.

                  Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress

Thought that I would share my last game. I am only 20 games in but this last game was by far the best baseball game experience that I have played to date. I was playing as the Marlins against the Rockies. Was down 3-1 going into the bottom of the 8th. Get a couple of hits and then hit a double with Mike Stanton to tie the game. Had bases loaded with 2 outs and ended up grounding out to end the inning. I finally won the game in the bottom of the 18th with a walk off HR off the left field foul pole. There were a few innings where I thought I was going to be able to score and it always seemed that it was with the bottom of the order. I have never played a game where I used every relief pitcher and if I hadnt scored when I did I would have had my next games starting pitcher coming in. I also used every bench player during this game. I believe I gave out a nice roar (more like a yelp when I finally won this game. Great great game and look forward to trying to get the fish another win tonight.

just started a new franchise with the Reds and planning to only pitch with Chapman
so i put him 4th in the rotation. i simulate the first 3 games and during one of those games, Johnny Cueto threw a no-hitter against the Brewers. i have never seen a box score of a simulated game where a pitcher throws a no-no/perfect game haha

I'm 28-35 in my Tigers franchise but I feel like I may be just hitting my stride and still have a chance being 8 games back in the division. I'm playing all of my division games and the first game of all of the other series and it's been alot of fun since I've gone to classic hitting with mk's sliders. I've honestly never had this much fun with a baseball game ever. Got MW3 today and was still going back to this game, and baseball is over, very unusual for me.

Been quiet in Brew Town. Got back at it today. Had a stalemate for the playoffs. I was 91-70 going into the last game. The Cardinals were 90-71. It was a tight one. Got a huge performance from Marcum and from Braun.

I just started a Franchise with my St.Louis Cardinals. (no im not a bandwagon fan. been liking them since 2008/2009...every yr i got more into baseball lol) i havent really done much to my lineup or pitching rotation.

                                This is my Lineup:
                                CF-Jon Jay
RF-Matt Holliday (majority of my payroll is going to this ****er)
                                1B-Albert Pujols
                                LF- Lance Berkman...the Puma!
                                3B-David Freese
C-Yadier Molina (my 2nd fav cardinal player)
                                2B-Robert Andino
                                SS-Zack Cozart
P-whoever is pitching lol/or DH (my DH is Allen Craig btw)

The only players in my starting lineup who werent originally on my team at beginning were zack cozart an Robert Andino. Zack cozart is a solid SS. he will be my SS for a few yrs if not many. i traded for him from the REds...i believe i traded a lowish overall pitcher (jake westbrook who was taking a toll on my payroll so he freed up quite some money room ha) an traded rafael furcal who also was taking a big hit on my payroll.....an robert andino to me is perfect 2B for a temporary fix. he has good enough contact (50-60) an decent power (50-65) an good speed (83+). an doesnt require much at all to get him. traded the orioles my top 2B (which is ryan theriot who is ****ty, horribleeee power. an is aging.) an nick punto....if u need a temporary fix at 2B for a yr or 3 max an looking to not have to trade anyone good then id strongly recommend robert andino!
