    Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress

I completed the fantasy draft, made six trades and this is how my team turned out.

    Pitching Rotation

    Felix Hernandez
    Stephen Strasburg
    J.A. Haap
    Edinson Volquez
    Tommy Hunter

    Bullpen

    Closer: Neftali Feliz
    Setup Man: Aroldis Chapman
Middle Relivers: Jose Arredondo, Michael Kirkman, Ryan Perry, Jordan Smith

    Lineup

    1. CF Denard Span
    2. SS Elvis Andrus
    3. 1B Joey Votto
    4. RF Jason Heyward
    5. DH Vladimir Guerrero
    6. C Carlos Santana
    7. LF Lastings Miledge
    8. 2B Howie Kendrick
    9. 3B Chone Figgins

    Bench Players

    C Aaron Moore
    1B Casey Kotchman
    2B David Eckstein
    SS Alexis Casilla
    RF Carlos Romero

I made sure to draft young so I can play this franchise for multiple seasons and not miss a beat.

Also, as you can see, my team isn't about a lot of power. It's more about playing typical Angels small ball. Whether it be stealing a base, sacrificing a runner over, getting singles and/or doubles, and just making the pitcher(s) of the opposing teams work and throw a lot of pitches.

I played the first game on Rookie difficulty just to get used to things, and gave a smack down to the Royals, who even after the fantasy draft have a pretty bad team. I won 13 to 0, with Felix Hernandez getting 16 strikeouts and pitching a complete game shutout. As predicted, it was all about methodically moving runners around, 4 or 5 sacrifice bunts, a steal or two, and lots of risk taking on the base paths as I have a very speedy team.

Also, I'm going to move up to Pro difficulty very soon, but I'm going to get 4 or 5 more games in before I do just to make sure I got the hold of things, as usually I'm not very good at playing baseball video games.

So, what do you guys think of my team so far?

Injuries happen pretty frequently. Ive seen quite a few injuries to pitchers Roy Oswalt (Elbow Stiffness 5+ days) Joe Blanton (Elbow Tendonitis 14+ days) Ryan Madson (Bruised Hand 4+ days) J.C Romero (Sprained Wrist 9+ days) and Brad Lidge (Rotator Cuff Tendonitis 4+ days).

Well I'm gonna break down and start a franchise for fun until sliders and the fatigue issue is worked out. I will be the Blue Jays and won't make too many moves like I said in a thread somewhere here. I'll give status updates once a day.

                My Detroit Tigers Franchise

                Roster Changes-
Traded Carlos Guillen for Tom Gorzelanny
Sent down Danny Worth and called up Scott Sizemore
Gorzelanny is my 4th starter and Phil Coke has gone back in the bullpen

                Game #1- Tigers 5 - Yankees - 3

Verlander pitched 7.1 innings giving up all 3 runs on 7 hits.
Cabrera and Ordonez both went yard in this game

                Game #2- Tigers 7 - Yankees 2

Scherzer went 6.2 innings striking out 8 while surrendering 5 hits. Both runs were given up by Scherzer on solo shots.

Avila and Raburn carried the offense as both had 3 rbi's

Lost my first ST game 10-4 to the Brewers

Ricky Romero got injured with strained biceps IIRC. Anyways he's day to day but he's going to have to miss a start so I put him on the DL.

3-1 in ST with the Jays so far. However, both Morrow and Frasor are injured right now. They're both listed as day to day, and while Frasor should be okay, I decided to play it safe with Morrow by having him miss his next start in order to recover. Next game is against the Phillies, the only team I've lost against in ST so far. The other games, I beat Detroit twice, with one of those wins coming as a result of a dramatic ninth inning comeback, and Houston once. The Houston win was my first game of ST. As far as trades go, I'm not sure yet how many trades I'll do, but it probably won't be very many. Oh, and I only have one home run in ST so far, courtesy of Adam Lind.

Started a franchise with Philly and skipped spring training. Go into the second game of the regular season against Houston and Cliff in on the mound. Hitless through two innings and in the third, I attempt to throw a slider and mess up the gesture bad. Cliff clinches his throwing arm and boom........torn bicep out for 2-4 months. Sucked but what I really liked was how the comentary went on into the next inning talking about the long term effects it would have on the team this year. Pretty good stuff.

                        Re: MLB2K11 Franchise Progress

Ran a test franchise with my brother to see how everything played out. We simmed through the whole thing. i was astros, he was the pirates. heres my rundown on how things looked.

                        Injuries-
they work great, happen quite frequently. most were in the 5-15 day range. had a few over 25+ days. had one that went season long, pitcher had a torn rotator cuff. so all in all injuries work great.

                        Sim results-
pretty accurate player stat wise. as far as team results they were a little off. red sox missed the playoffs Toronto beat them out for the wildcard. The A's won the world series.

                        June Draft-
Best part of the season IMO. loved molding my franchise around young talent. player select screen has everything right there for you to look at player ability wise including potential and trend. what makes it fun is do you draft that player that's already a 72 overall but only has 4 stars or do you draft the 62 overall player that has the chance to be 5 stars and be a superstar. after the draft is over you go to the screen where you see all the players you drafted and sign them to contracts, then chose what league they play for (MLB,AAA,AA,A).

                        Player Stamina-
Im sure you all know stamina only works when you sim, it does not get accounted for when you play games. its a bug but i made sure ronnie from 2k knew about it on twitter he said he was gathering all info to get over to the developers so hopefully we get a patch that will fix it.

                        Off-season-
everything is pretty much self explanitory. Unfortunately there is still a major problem with players salaries as in them taking way to much less money. Example adrian Gonzalez was on the pirates(my bro traded for him) he re signed for 5/35. only seven mill a year what crap. thats really disappointing that they did not fix that. almost making it impossible for good free agents to there. only thing to fix this would be controlling all 30 teams. REALLY NEED TO FIX THAT NEXT YEAR 2K!!!!! Luckily i can find some joy building a team through drafting and trading. one quick note that do have type A+B free agents so you receive compensation if they sign elsewhere

                        Player Progression-
BY FAR 10X BETTER THAN THE SHOWS PLAYER PROGRESSION SYSTEM!!! Im not gonna go to in depth about it(Read the dev. diary from yesterday they nail it on the head) They really nail it with the potential stars and trend abilities. Andrew Mcuthcen (not sure how to spell it lol) OF for the pirates. basically 2k had predicted him to be a major superstar but he had a downright awful season. think he only batted like .223. after the season he went down 3 points 88-85. just goes to show that not everyone that is projected to be good will be (cough cough Madden 11).most i saw one player go up was 7 points. all in alli think it works great.

overall franchise can be a great mode if they were to fix the stamina problem and salary problem. other than that i think its a very enjoyable mode.

Wasnt sure i was suppose to post this here or under impressions

Running with the Brew Crew. Swept the Reds on Pro difficulty. Way too easy. 40-7 in runs scored in 3 game set. I hope All-Star is more challenging.

I will definitely be running with the Tribe. I initially wanna see what our young guys can do. Sure up the starting rotation will be on the to do list, but I first wanna see what some of our live young arms give me. I'll play Jason Donald and Orlando Cabrera in tandem at 2nd, I think this will give me an accurate read on Jason as a long-term player there or not. In the mean-time he can soak up what he can from Orlando, given he has gone through the transition from 2nd to SS and now back to 2nd. SS to 2nd being the easier of the two.

It'll feel good to have a healthy Grady, Pronk, Santana and Asdrubal in the line-up again, hopefully this remains so. I would hate to have to shop a 5-tool talent like Grady.

Expecting big things from Fausto and Choo. Wonder what I'll get out of kearns and Johnson? Only time will tell, until then it's GO TRIBE!!!

Won my first ST game against the M's so am now 1-1 on the spring. It was a pretty close and tense (late in the game) ball game that went 11 innings. I won 3-2.

Surprisingly Wil Ledesma was lights out out of the pen and got the win in relief.

Looks like we FINALLY have a legitimate injury system in MLB2K, and now pitching depth really does matter.
