2K11 needs a cancel throw feature.
With the new throwing system in place, it is so obvious that we need to be able to cancel throws. There have been times in the demo where I am aware I'm about to have an errant throw, which the runner would have likely beat out anyway, and I need to be able to just eat it. Why was this ever removed? Does 2K have any plans on ever implementing a new one? You could just hold LT during the throwing animation, and the thrower would pump fake the throw, I don't see what's so hard about it.Tags: None -
Re: 2K11 needs a cancel throw feature.
I totally agree. Multiple times I have had a play where I was going to turn a double play but the fielder botches the grounder. I wish I could cancel the throw to second and just throw to first. Instead, I throw late to second, and both runners are safe. -

I've had this happen a lot, and was really the first thing that went through my head when playing the demo.

Re: 2K11 needs a cancel throw feature.
I really think this is one of the most important features still left out of the game. They need to put this in like they did the check swing.
I don't know how many times I've needed to cancel a throw and it's hurt me in this game.
The option was there in 2K9 I believe where we could hit the RT to stop a throw, please BRING IT BACK!!!PSN : TALLERthanyou24Comment

Re: 2K11 needs a cancel throw feature.
I can't tell you how many times I've decided to throw home to get a runner, only to realize he's staying at 3rd. But since I pre-loaded to home and I'm forced to throw it, the guy on first takes 2nd on the throw. Or I throw to 2nd and the guy decides to take 3rd. Real players can "cancel" throws. Why can't I do it with a simple button press in a video game?"Baseball is the coolest sport because, at any moment, the catcher can stop the game and go tell the pitcher a secret" - Rob FeeComment

Also, I tweeted Ronnie2k to ask about this. I'll let you know what he replies."Baseball is the coolest sport because, at any moment, the catcher can stop the game and go tell the pitcher a secret" - Rob FeeComment

Re: 2K11 needs a cancel throw feature.
Has anyone seen the CPU cancel a throw in the demo?
On a PC so only have been watching youtube vids. Andrus appears to be stopping a throw in this video at 5:30
Like you guys mentioned, I think having a cancel feature is crucial. Would definitely help with the on-field immersion.Comment

I believe they use to have the cancel throw feature in a recent version of 2K (was it 2K9?). Just like things in the past, they removed it.Comment

With that being said, I'd look for a feature like the canceled throw to resurface sooner than later. As it is a game play enhancer and not some cosmetic detail to make the game look pretty.Comment

Re: 2K11 needs a cancel throw feature.
If they were able to patch in check swings, doesn't this seem like an easy fix?
I hope so, this is so important.PSN : TALLERthanyou24Comment

Re: 2K11 needs a cancel throw feature.
You're the man, I appreciate that, I await your reply on this matter. Even if this takes a month to be patched in, I'd gladly take it. Honestly, I don't even think the animation for it would be difficult, just program the throw animation without the ball leaving the hand.Comment

Re: 2K11 needs a cancel throw feature.
Is there an advantage to the pre-load? If there is an advantage then is part of the risk / reward not being able to cancel? If there is no advantage then why pre-load in the first place?
I can understand wanting to cancel a pre-load throw because you bobble the catch. Say for instance, instead of needing to throw to 1st you want to throw to second. It kind of makes sense that a real life player would be able to make that choice after the bobbled catch and not be tied to some pre-load brain-arm funtion.
However, I don't see why you should be able to cancel out of a pre-load just because you screwed up the timing and fear it might be an errant throw. There are no take-backs in baseball so how would it be realistic if you can cancel a throw just because you screwed up the timing. Then everyone would pre-load on the catch. If it was a bad pre-load, they would cancel out, make the catch and then get a second try to make a good throw.Comment
