It sucks in some ways as you don't get the stat overlays for the players when they come to the plate nor do you get any commentary on leaders and stuff like that. But I needed the games to be shorter.

    ah ok understood.

Impressions: With a set of sliders I have grown accustomed to, this game is enjoyable beyond belief.

    - stats!
    - hit variety [could be the best of any baseball game this gen]
    - too many fouls behind the catcher tho.
    - the pitching meter has me pumped to the point that I am scared to try it with a low level pitcher. My last three games I went with Oswalt, Jurrgens and CC and they were dealing.
    - did i mention stats?
    - i like that the catcher calls pitches based on Inside Edge data. Really nice.

I use both classic pitching and hitting. There is still a drop in framerate when you hit the ball. This on the PS3, btw.

Hey bro, whos sliders are you using if you don't mind me asking? and has your initial impressions changed?
NBA2K is the standard of sports games period.

            Hi art,

i am using http://www.operationsports.com/forum...1-sliders.html but I move Throw Accuracy to 30 as the meter moved too fast for me on 25.

my impressions before using th sliders? or in general?
In general I still love it, tho not sure how I felt before

Totally agree. Even though bugs sometimes frustrate me, my overall satisfaction is making my purchase well worth it. Sometimes the beauty of the game is just stunning.

I was playing as the Cubs and was facing the Pirates. I was up by two in the seventh, but the Pirates had worked the bases loaded. I brought in Kerry Woods...and just absolutely dominated the next three hitters, striking them all out and ending the inning with the lead safe.

Probably the most satisfying moment I have ever had with a video game.

I need to apologize to 2K for ripping on them about the Rockies' uniform choices. Turns out, Colorado has decided to bring the Purple unis back, as they wore them today against the D-Backs.

                  Good job, 2K

Moments like that could have been resolved if 2K had an active forum member from the development team.

Then he could have put you in your place days ago!!

                      Well played, CMH.

So I have to say that I'm finding default All-Star to be a pretty good experience so far. I do think there are things that will need to be tweaked, but I don't think the default sliders are that far off.

MLB Today already is a blast to play. I love the statistical overlays and the commentary is really strong with a lot of references to the 2010 season and they talk a lot about the off-season and how that should affect whatever team you are using in 2011.

Played my MLB Today game Cardinals vs Padres, I lost 10-7 , Albert Pujols going deep for a 3 run bomb. Then Ryan Ludwick coming back to haunt me ( Cardinals ) hit a 3 run jack top of the 7th just after I had just tied it 7-7 the bottom of 6th inning to go ahead 10-7 , dang, oh well a loss but fun as heck!!!!

So giving this game a spin.

I put power at 75 for CPU (because I wasn't seeing much power) and immediately, everything had a huge crack to the bat and the very next hitter, Aaron Hill of Toronto, hit a bomb.

Nothing against Hill, but I think 75 was just too much.

So, I lowered it and have been playing around with it since. I had it at 60 against Washington and liked that Zimmerman hit a deep double against Hanson. But, after a game that ended 2-1 with only two doubles between both teams, I'm feeling like I need to bump the power a bit more. Maybe 65.

To counter this, I'm lowering Contact. I had it at 40, but want to drop it to 35 on both sides. Still feel I'm seeing a few hits here and there that shouldn't happen. Hard to explain.

I'm content with everything else. I think OF/IF speed is fine. Baserunner speed is fine. I upped CPU Baserunning Aggressiveness when I saw a guy hold up on third when he should have scored. Just not seeing enough power, which sounds crazy to say about a MLB 2K game. Actually, I can get power, but I want it to be balanced.

Also, is there not a check swing for classic hitting? I thought that was added back in late last year?

The problem you'll find with lowering contact so much is WAY too many strikeouts and way too few foul balls. There is a happy medium to be found between swings and misses, foul balls, and power. I keep thinking I'm close, but just not happy yet.

This is true, especially if you have an ace on the hill. If you lower CPU Contact, you can rack up double-digit K's most times.

I did see that issue. I'm gonna have to keep playing with the Contact sliders. I just don't like that I'm seeing too many singles, but maybe finding the right amount of Power will fix that.
