Those are the big things. Pitching is just so much better when you can't pinpoint the location. I still believe hitting is the biggest improvement of all in 2K11. The hit variety is a huge improvement. The fact you can actually make errors now is good although the default settings and stat recording are weak. Errors are not being recorded properly. I've seen a misplayed ball by the SS not counted as an error. Any throw that pulls the first basemen off the bag is not recorded as an error. Unless that ball sails over his head they won't charge the player with an error.

I don't see enough of an improvement in the AI department imo. Starters are pulled too soon and some relievers are left in too long. Base running AI is weak and my biggest complaint is the cpu not sending a runner home that's on 3rd with ground balls to the right side. Way too conservative in that situation. I haven't played enough national league games to see the bad pitcher and pinch hitting management but it's been talked about quite a bit.

I will disagree about the pitcher covering first base being a problem. I haven't seen this problem at all. They cover first on grounders to first and on the 3-6-1 double play.

Are you guys changing any settings for power?

I've played about seven three inning games in the demo and neither I nor the CPU has hit a homerun. I'm seeing doubles but nothing has left the park.

My experience with games is mostly like this. No one hits homeruns until I play the retail. Is that a similar case here? Anyone else have trouble seeing homeruns in the demo but not having an issue in retail?

I'm having no problem hitting HRs in the retail version and that's with power down to 45. I do swing power most of the time and in about 20 games I've only hit one HR with the contact swing. There is still a big gap between the contact swing and the power swing but not as bad as last year. If you are swinging for contact or using the button swing (which is contact) you will have to raise the power slider if you want to see more HRs. Same goes for the cpu which swings for contact a lot. I have their power at 75 (last year I had to have it at 100) and I tone down the contact slider to get a nice mix of hits and HRs. The cpu never hit a HR off me in the demo either.

I've hit two homers in 22 innings, but the CPU had hit none. This is on pro, without any sliders changes and without the first patch, whatever that does. So, obviously, some slider adjustments are needed.
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

I've been using classic. Didn't know classic is only contact swing. Well good to know. I'm hoping to play the retail soon and judge the game off a complete copy.

            Thanks for the impressions guys.

I hit homers in the demo with Classic hitting, but I used the Left Stick to pull the ball.

One thing that I truly dislike about this game is that when a hitter grounds out, he slows down instantaneously.

For example, Nyjer Morgan hit a ball to Rafael Furcal who dove, got up, and fired over to first for the out. Well, ionstead of running through the bag, he completely slowed down and didn't even pass the bag (throw beat him by about 3 feet). Inexcusable.

Baserunning animations in this game clearly need some work.

Are there many infield popups? If I recall, that was one thing that didn't happen much in 2K10.

                        PC version. Things I've seen:

There are infield pop-ups and infield-fly rule is called. Also, pop-ups behind home-plate and down the foul lines that can be caught.

Tons more. Hit variety is so much better in 2K11 it's not even funny.

One comment on the cpu. The cpu hitters have a lot of randomness to them. If you throw a weak pitch on the meter they will definitely make you pay. But there are times when you can throw a hard pitch down the heart of the plate and a decent hitter will still swing and miss. The next time that might end up a HR. Nothing feels scripted and you can't lose focus when facing anyone. If you start to take the crappy hitter too lightly they will get a hit off you. I've learned that when I get ahead in the count to really nibble and try to get guys to chase. Throw too many pitches in the zone and you will give up too many hits period. My pitch counts tend to be really good. My starters struggle to last deep in to games.

I've also learned the hard way that I can't give in to good hitters. It's a crucial part of a good slider set if you want to see user issued walks. You can choose to never walk anyone if you just throw meatballs down the heart of the plate when you fall behind. But that will hurt you far more as you watch balls sail over the fence.

Er, tons of popups to the C, but extremely few to infield players. I can count on one hand the number of popups I've seen to infield players.

PC version. Not seeing the tons of pop-ups behind the plate to the C, neither by me or the CPU.

Although I have a PS3 I went with 2k11. I'm still enjoying it. Actually I'm enjoying it more since I stop reading the bug threads. It's not perfect. But it is fun.

Only problem is that that little PS3 birdy keeps whispering about some other baseball game.
