Do dynamic crowds in franchise mode is let down for me. I play a lot of franchise mode and seeing the stands full all the time is a bummer.

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
After playing several games (3/6 inning games) I can safely say MLB 2k11 is a very fun game. 360 owners can finally have a baseball game they can play without any issues. Hopefully no bugs/glitches or whatnot will crop up to hinder the experience.
If you're a baseball fan and have a 360 go pick this up or get it a try from gamefly. IMO, you won't be disappointed.
If you have a PS3 you'll have a choice to make this year.
It's a good year for baseball.
I'll continue to answer questions if I have the time.Moderator

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
Starting to see WAY to many bloop singles by the cpu right over the infielders heads. As soon as I bumped it up AS that's when it started happening. I thought bumping it up I'd see more line drives, but that's not the case.Moderator

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
This is the IMPRESSION thread, not for people posting questions. I'm going to start handing out warnings for failure to 1) read the first post and 2) posting in this thread when they are not on the list of approved posters. Getting really tired of people not paying attention and cluttering threads up that should otherwise remain neat and easy to readAaron

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
The broken up double plays at 2nd are nicely done this year. I haven't seen one issue with clipping yet.
I still can't steal for the life of me!
Still to many liners to the infielders. I would've liked to see more ground outs and choppers instead of these.
The Phills might be the most used team on here. The Phantastic 4 are just flat out sick.Moderator

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
CPU AI is starting to make some bone headed plays.
Rollins on 2nd, 1 out. Utley (cpu) hits a grounder to ARod (me) and Rollins takes off for 3rd. Not sure what he was thinking, but all I had to do was tag Rollins and throw to 1st for a DP.Last edited by DirtyJerz32; 03-07-2011, 08:01 PM.Moderator

I hope they can patch the weak liners to the infield. As of right now, that's the only thing I'm starting to get sick of. Well, that and the suction catching going on by the cpu.Moderator

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
After 2 days of playing here is my impression of the MLB 2k11.
I'm impressed, but not that impressed.
It's a fun game and don't get me wrong it plays a good game of baseball. It doesn't play a great game of baseball, but it's on the right track to do so.
IMO, it does all factors good, but again not great.
It's a good pick up and play game that can be really enjoyable but, it's not going to "SHOCK" you.
MLB 2k11 reminds me of the a baseball team that's not going to win the pennate, but may or may not make the playoffs. MLB 2k11 is in the Wild Card hunt. They're going to play a solid baseball game, but you never know what team is going to show up one day after another.
The hitting is good, but the soft liners to the infielders happen way to often.
The fielding is solid, but why are there so many plays when the fielder jump throws when he doesn't need to?
The player models are good, but some of the faces are horrid, especially when you're pitching. The faces on the batters are PS2/XBOXish, just ugly.
The stadiums are beautiful, but the crowd in the out field doesn't look right, especially when batting. Again, very last gen looking.
The commentary is the best in sports, I'm just going to applaud 2k/VC for this. The MLB/NBA Today feature/commentary needs to be in every sports game. Close your eyes and you'll swear you're listening to a real broadcast.
The stadium sounds are great. All the little chants, boos, cheers are done really well. I love the heckling by some of the fans, but why no dynamic crowds. It should not be a packed house every game.
I have not touched MyPlayer or really went deep into franchise mode. The only thing I will say about franchise is when I was simming, the cpu kept offering me trades. One involved CC and Cano, seriously?
Anyway, I like the game. I like what they are trying to do but, I just don't think 2k/VC is there yet.
What I will say is this. If you have a 360 and you're a baseball fan go pick this up. It's not going to shock you or wow you, but it is a good baseball game.
Gameplay alone it's a good game. If you can deal with some of the minor things you'll enjoy it even more.
That's my impression of this years game. The game comes out in 1 hour, some of you will bash this game some will just play it for what it is.
I hope it's the later of the two. If it is you won't be disappointed this year.
Late.

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
Picked the game up at Meijer (360 version) a bit ago and played 7 innings on default All-Star, Reds(ME) vs Pirates(CPU).
If a mod would like a pic please let me know.
Some impressions
-Haven't seen one weak line drive to an infielder (not saying it doesn't happen)
-Fielding is fun, but an adventure if you aren't careful pushing the button sensitively enough
-Cueto gave up 2 bombs on bad pitches
-I hit a HR off the pole with Drew Stubbs that was pretty cool and the ball detection on the pole was perfect, even the sound
-Graphics are not great but not last gen either
-Batting is as much fun as I've ever had playing a baseball game and I have been playing them since Atari and Intellivision!! Hitting the ball to where it is pitched is almost perfected in this game!
-I am a horrid baserunner, being a former Show only player.
-Didn't see ANY AI fielding or baserunning blunders. They hit a ball to SS with one out and a runner on 2nd, ball slightly in front of the runner, and he correctly retreated quickly back to 2nd base.
-No dumb AI managerial moves so far
-Have seen many different hit types through 7 innings.
-Stadium in Cincy, GAB looks good and the smokestacks go off after a HR
So far so good for me. I haven't played a 2K game in 4 years. (Bought MLB for my PS3 the last 3 years). Though it's early, and barring any game killing glitches that may arise, I would say 2K has released a very well playing game of baseball!!!Comment

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
Check gamertag on xbox.com, I've unlocked an Achievement in MLB2K11; proof enough I have the game, I think.
Just lost 4-1, Tigers @ Mets in MLB Today.
All the scoring in the first; the game rudely introduced itself to me by my starting pitcher letting the first three get on base, then allowing a grand slam by Magglio Ordonez. The SP sat down after 3 innings, giving up five hits, four earned runs, two walks, and an ERA of 12.00; this isn't good, lol. Also had three wild pitches. Generally, whoever my starter was, sucked. lol
I was able to get a solo shot with David Wright (who is phenomenal in this game; it's really easy to tell he's just better than many of my other fielders), but largely struggled batting the ball. Brad Penny was pretty dialed in himself, allowing but four hits in seven innings and the one earned run off of Wright's homer.
I think if I learn how to bat, I'll enjoy this game a lot more; of Penny's 65 pitches, 48 were strikes. I do enjoy pitching a lot (when I have a reasonably good pitcher, that is), and fielding is pretty fun as well.Comment

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread
Couple more things before bed
-Chapman's fastball is ridiculously fast!!
-Saw 6 jerseys for the Reds, most have road, home, Alternate, 1 or 2 throwbacks, and their BP jerseys.
-I am a pretty seasoned baseball player but I am getting beat up on All-Star default. Pitch accuracy is a must!!!
-Player faces are downright scary, but the stadiums look great in my opinion.
-Game has plenty of sliders, and if they work, it should be very tweakable.
-Most of the ugly swing animations from the demo remain in the retail.
-When hitting, you can feel it when you really get the sweet spot of the bat on the ball.
-Feel like I am seeing a few too many of the over the shoulder football catches I have read about, but not a big deal.
-If you liked the demo, you should really enjoy the retail version.
-Commentary is incredible!!! In-depth and intelligent.Comment
