It's definitely a delicate balance. I'm also hoping that the patch will address the # of hits on default All-Star and higher for the CPU, so we will see.

      Any tips on baserunning?

It seems you have to be in control of your runners all the time. Batters will stop at first on balls hit to the gap if you don't manually send them to second. The runner on third will stay there on ground balls hit to the right side. I've seen runners on second try to score on routine base hits and get thrown out easily at home. It's just a complete mess unless you're on top of it, controlling it. Any way to do this automatically?
It's on me. I shook his hand too hard. It was a hard ... kind of a slap-shake.

You have to do it manually. No auto base running.

I rarely see the cpu try to bunt for a hit this year. Is this related to the bunt success and contact sliders? How high do they have to be to get the fast cpu players to attempt bunt singles?

Don't know about that, but I do know those sliders are useless. Even at 0 for both the human and CPU can place a perfect sac bunt every time.

Having purchased The Show in 08 09 and 10, I switched it up this year and I am giving 2K11 a shot. After 12 games, I have to say I'm having a pretty good time. It's rough around the edges, but it's proving to be a nice change of pace.

The pitching mechanic really adds a level of control where you feel like you're actually throwing/spinning a certain type of ball. Plus, the commentary is out of this world. We'll see if this continues on as my 2011 baseball game of choice, but so far so good.

Love that pop in the catcher's mitt when Chapman burns one in at 101 mph.

Same here. I have been playing the show for the last 3 years. Now this year Im playing 2k baseball and Im really having a great time.

Every year I would give 2k a chance, but it was way off in delivering a solid baseball experience. Im glad I stuck with my routine of trying a title out, because 2k has done a solid job this year.

I just had to make a few slider adjustments, and now the game is solid for me.

                Good job 2k!

I am really digging this game.

For once, I feel like I can read pitches and where they're going. I've been able to draw walks, which for a happy hacker like me is pretty awesome.

I love My Player too. A fun fun game.

Same with me. In The Show, I almost never can draw a walk. Last night in MLB 2K11, I drew two walks, stole third, and sac-flied to right field. I scored a run without a single hit!

Re: Official MLB 2k11 - Impressions Thread

I'm playing both games, and the first thing I would steal from 2k11 and put into the show would be the "batters eye" system. It harkens back to MVP's system where the ball would flash a color right before release to let you know what type of pitch it was. It's allowed me to be more patient at the plate, I still get K'd and hack at stuff, but it's easier to draw a walk, the other night, I had 5 walks in 2 innings with my Cubs. To this point, I'd probably drawn 5 walks all of the time I played 2k10 and MLB 10 last year. I was astonished.

The next thing I would steal is the checkswing system for classic hitting from The Show, and put it in 2k11, my god, I can't checkswing for anything in 2k11 :/

There's just no time to hit the button twice, you almost have to be geared up before the pitch to checkswing, there's no time in the milliseconds of ball flight to press the button twice.

I totally agree about the ease of drawing walks in MLB 2K11. It's something that I've never been able to do in the past on other baseball games. I am a hacker but there are a few things that certainly help in 2K11.

                        1) Batting camera. The default view really lets you see the pitch well.
                        2) Pitch speed. The pitch speed in 2K11 is slower which allows you time to judge balls and strikes. The pitch speed slider works really well to and allows users to create this environment. Some games force you to use fast pitch speeds that frustrate some of us.
                        3) Batter's Eye. This is a cool system and I really like it's based on the batter's attributes. Lousy hitters can't use it as effectively as good hitters.

I just wish I could use Batter's Eye without the strike zone on. Still have the flashing blue triangle, but no permanent zone.

                            I'd like that option too.

I do hope they finalize that patch soon, and it brings this game up to par with what I expected out of 2k this year.

I'm optimistic. But some patch notes would be nice.
