    Impressions PS3 Post Patch

Well most of you guys know how I felt about 2K early on in the the release. However with the enw patch out that actually fixed a ton of things, I am very happy with what has been put out and I have to say that I am enjoyig the crap out fo this game more than ever. Here is the breakdown.

Gameplay: I really enjoy this aspect of the game. I wish there were more glove flips and sheer ooh's and ahh's defensivly but I do get my fair share. PLayed a game where I was cleveland vs the Nats and zimmerman made this jump catch that was just sweet. This game has IMO surpassed the competition in terms of hit variety, CPU AI behaving REAISTICALLY, and overall is a blast to play. Pitching has always been fun so coupled with the hitting and fielding and the feel of the gameplay this game is top shelf.

Sounds: I LOVE the sounds in this game. The competition just doesnt get it right for anything. THe bat cracks in this game is phenominal, the crowds sounds great, the stadium ambience is awesome, and the commentary is well...everyone knows this is where 2k sets the standard.

Graphics: well...2k sure did take a year off in this department didnt they. The graphics are tolerable, it doesnt really take too much away with all the jaggies and whatnot but the roster guy and mo cap guys need and have to be fired. Like yesterday. From the lack of faces in the game all the way down to the gear that doesnt even look right, heck even the jaggies that are everywhere! **** fail in all proprtions and I blame the roster guy for the crappy rosters that are put out, the mocap guy who seemd to ahve thought it was okay to give old past player sig to current new players instead of just creating new ones, and replacing player sigs that were great with worse ones, and my fav...having player sig that are there but show up as generic (cantu, votto, soriano) and of course the art or graphics designer needs to be an assistant to the assistant or somehting because the jaggies and misses in this year game is what held this game back from glory.

Franchise...I will post more reviews about this once I play more.

Overall this game is waaay improved and I feel as though this is the day 1 version of the game we were ALL supposed to recieve but didnt. With the new patch I give this a good 8.5 soley on the aspect that the roster, grahics designer, and mocap guy failed this team. The gameplay, franchise (thusfar), sounds, FUN FACTOR, and expeirience puts this game through the roof for me.

if we can get the new DL/Injury Time left bug nailed down with a complete workaround or a small bug fix patch, this game is golden.

Is my controller broken or is it impossible to throw breaking pitches without getting bad gesture on Total Control settings, Throw on top that they dont let you use Classic online unless both use it, and you cant have classic for online leagues I am extremely dissapointed in this game. I shouldnt have to be a thumb contortionist to locate a curveball or a changeup with one of the phillies 4 aces.

I'd say your controller is broken, or you just need to practice. Try turning pitch analyzer on for every pitch.

You either need to work on it or your controller is broke.

Lol @ thumb contortionist. I feel your pain. It took me like two weeks to get the gestures down on curveballs. There are two important things. First, you have to find a way to keep your analog stick engaged with the rim the whole time--that's the hard part. Second, you have to let it charge like 2/3 of the way once you make that initial move before you finish the gesture.

It's not easy, but once you get it it makes pitching pretty fun. I'd suggest slowing down the pitch meter speed to a really low setting and practicing it like that till you can work your way up. That's what I did. I also used the pitch gesture analyzer feature after each pitch so I could see where I was losing contact with the rim on bad gestures.

                Stick with it man!

I have never had more enjoyment playing online before in baseball games. There's nothing more enjoyable than actually taking pitches (especially where they throw out of the strike zone purposely) and finding an opponent's set rhythm and then taking advantage of it once you actually have a RISP.

I have to say I actually just sold my MLB the Show 11 a couple days ago to get this game. I'm a long time player of mvp 05 and was hesitant to get this game. After reading on here a ton of threads I rented it and love so many aspects of the game. The one thing I would like to changed is to not have the cpu catcher set up in and out when batting using a view from behind the pitcher. I also would like it if the cpu catchers didn't show pitch type with their fingers. I know this adds a realism, but it negate being able to use the view behind the pitcher when hitting, I know the show 11 has this feature, maybe next year this can be addressed. thanks

I am really enjoying the game this year, getting much more realistic scores, and feel, if that makes sense. For 2K12 (I can't find a 2K12 wish list here) though, I would love to have the following (even if it's the last in the series, which based on this years, I hope it isn't)

The ability to send your teams pitching coach to the mound instead of the manager. Also be able instruct your catcher go out there.

The game, with the excellent presentation, needs a pregame show IMO, or even a season preview - wrap up like the old college hoops games. Your going for a Fox/ESPN esque Presentation 2K, why not go all the way.

An update on the player models, specifically making the faces feel more alive.

Change the score box to a score bug (aka NBA 2K11) as thats the way most networks seem to be going.

Maybe have the ability to vote for All Star members during a Franchise?

Please, Opening Day, All Star Game and Game 1 and 3 of the World Series at least, add lineup introductions and the National Anthem. Baseball is all about atmosphere and to make those games feel very special goes along way to creating that.

For those who say "But I'll just skip over that" think about those of us who won't. It's much better to have too much of something then too little when it comes to presentation.

Get more Sponsorship Deals, it seems a bit flat just having State Farm. Add Gatorade, Crackerjacks, Majestic, Topps. Maybe even do a "Insert Brand Here" Game of the week etc.

I always wanted since sports games went to nexgen to have one of those overlays saying "Presented in High Definition by 'insert brand here'"

Add a more detailed weather report (and if possible add rain etc)

When going into the bottom of the 1st, please bring back the Home pitchers stat line. I hate not having it in 2K11.

Also if you don't get around to announcing the defense lineups in the 1st inning, put it in the 2nd. I always felt that was odd not having it in there if you don't get around to presenting it in the 1st.

Please bring back the in game sports ticker. I used to love that.

Please make Bullpen transitions less awkward. Cut to commercial when they come in then come back with the relievers stat overlays.

Also please allow us to bring in a relief pitcher in the next inning, not having to wait to the beginning of the inning we want to bring the pitcher in. I hate having to go to the mound again in the opening.

Thats all I can think of right now. I know there are better people then me on this board who can identify specific gameplay that needs addressed. This is just what I would add if I was working on the dev team.

I don't think 2K can control this it's more the companies wanting to pay to be put in the game.

I will say that, while some of the issues that crop up are annoying, the franchise mode has some great things about it to build on. That stat-tracking has always been great, and this year is no exception. The commentary for various events and performances in-franchise from game-to-game is second to none as well. The trade system is handled very well overall. I haven't seen any weird trades yet (I'm sure they'll be some as there always are, but it's a good sign that in two full season simulations and a month of play, there hasn't been any head scratchers for me). Also the trades offered to you come at a decent pace and make sense. All good things.

The biggest thing though (for me, at least) is the injury system. It's wonky at times trying to strike a balance between too many or too few injuries, but the system itself is great. In game injuries happen in fitting moments (there are exceptions, of course) as well. I love the chronic injury aspect and being able to view an injury history on players. Just the level of information thrown at you is impressive. If they build on that, they have a real gem of a feature on their hands IMO. (As a bonus for PC players, if you get the roster editro, you can also have manual injuries). More games should have something like this IMO.

I'm really enjoying MLB Today, although it does bother me that the pitching stats aren't shown; every starter is 0-0 with 0.00 ERA. The hitting stats are good and I love the team stats shown during the game. The commentary is great, too.
