Re: MLB 2K11 Roster Adjustments, Ratings and Accessories - MLB 2K Insider Will Check

Durability ratings for some catchers need adjusting:

    1. McCann of the Braves is rated 98, which results in him playing all 162 games. No catcher should be rated 98.

    2. Pena of the Royals is rated 98 and he never played more than 64 games in a season!

    3. Ruiz of the Phillies is rated just 70!

    4. Soto of the Cubs is rated 94!

    5. Thole who hasn't played more games than Ruiz is rated 88.

    6. Schneider of the Phillies is rated 81, which is higher than Ruiz.

Now I'd like to go for batting and contact ratings:

Jeter of the Yankees is rated 89 Contact against lefties. The day Jeter should be rated 89 for anything is long gone--especially for Contact.

Cano is good, but 85 and 95 for contact is more than he deserves. Pujols is 89 and 91, Holliday is 86 and 91.

Scott Hairston of the Mets is trending upwards, why? Polanco of the Phillies is trending downwards while batting over .300 in the majors today. I think Polanco should have his peak years 32-35 so next season begins his slide downwards, assuming next season he does go downwards.

Re: MLB 2K11 Roster Adjustments, Ratings and Accessories - MLB 2K Insider Will Check

This has to do with Classic pitching:

The CPU can throw two-seam fastballs over 95 mph, but hitting maximum with Classic limits the User to 95 mph. Since this was not an issue in 2K10, something was done in 2K11 that puts a penalty using Classic for two-seam fastballs limited in speed to 95 mph when hitting maximum. Please correct this in the next patch, assuming there is a next patch.

Game Summary always shows zero totals. This was working fine before the last patch.

I hate Jeter as much as the next guy, but he hit .321 against lefties last year and .339 2008-2010. He's sucking this year, .268, but it's still a pretty limited sample size (56 at bats).

Jeter is over-the hill and 89 Contact days are over. They don't always use 3-year totals for ratings. In addition, 3-year totals can be misleading, especially when a player is hurt and doesn't play a good part of the season.

I'm not all that sure ratings mean much in this game. I simmed a season and Ryan Howard had 26 homers, Utley had 36 homers, McCann had 36 homers, Cano had 27 homers--more than Ryan Howard!

So you're saying you want to put money down that Jeter won't go on a mini tear and get his batting average over .290 vs LHP or whatever equates to an 89? I bet a lot of people would take that wager. Remember when KC's time was now and the Red Sox were done? It's still really early to write anybody off. Even Adam Dunn.

Yup. He's at .268 right now, and at season's end I don't think he'll reach .290 against lefties.

The updated rosters do trend with some players, meaning, some hot players get a boost in ratings, such as Polanco. Thus, I think those that are doing badly and most likely over-the-hill like Jeter should get a decrease--it shouldn't be a one-way street.

I expressed my opinion and you expressed yours, so now we'll see what happens at end of season.

Hey guys...I know most of you are probably playing this on 360 but I have been working on an extensive roster for the PC and have used much of the input from this thread to use in my rosters. So I thought I would say THANKS Though I didn't use everything suggested I took it into account while I did my own research and adjusted accordingly. So once again thanks to those of you who pointed out things that I would have never had the time or capability to catch myself.

There are lots and lots of pitcher ratings inaccurate that I corrected in my roster and never posted here. I am pretty sure 2K adds the two-seam fastball to many pitchers who don't throw one so that they are harder to hit. There are also cutters given to quite a few who never threw one. The best advice I can give is check PitchFX for every pitcher--you will be surprised at what you discover.

Yeah, but they did already drop Jeter. I just think they shouldn't overdue it. Remember how you got mad about over the hill Pujols (.222 vs LH) getting dropped? The sample size is just too small. Jeter goes 4-4 against some crappy left handed fifth starter tommorow and he's batting .316 for example. Just a theory, but I think when teams are doing well or poorly, 2K is more likely to give the benefit of the doubt to guys like Polanco just to bump the team ratings up a little. If the Yankees start stinking it up, I'd bet guys like Jeter and Gardner would receive the full wrath of the ratings guy.

Or subscribe to ESPN Insider and check the Inside Edge reports that 2K uses and decide which one is more accurate. Ubaldo Jimenez's magical Fastball, Two-Seam Fastball, Splitter splits from 2009-2011 showing how Pitch F/X has trouble identifying what the pitch it is for example. Or even Fangraph's Jimenez regualr pitch breakdown.

I think you have me mixed up with someone else--I never said Pujols was over-the-hill and no idea about him being dropped.

2K didn't have Jimenez with a two-seam fastball until I posted here about PitchFx having him with it.

Listen, I am not interested in anything you have to say.

You complained about 2K dropping Pujols ratings several times. Why is Jeter's .268 average proof of being over the hill, when Pujols .222 is an aberation? I'd like to agree with you because I hate the Yankees and agree Pujols is more likely to bounce back, but I just think your logic is poor and biased. Especially when you consider all the rumors of Pujols lying about his age and steroid use. It's very difficult to single out a player and assume he's done or for real after 1/3 a season, which is why I actually like how 2K uses the weighted 3-year averages and doesn't overreact to trends.

I did not complain about Pujols--I complained that Youklis had better ratings than Pujols. Check your facts before saying things about me. They changed Youklis after I complained, and they also changed Pujols. My post is somewhere in this thread if you want to know the truth.

So now you're saying your statement about Youklis was wrong since he's .308 with 4 HRs against lefties vs. Pujols measily .222 and 3 HRs?
