If you're going to hit HR's with contact swing you need to find those mistakes up in the zone and middle/in. With lousy pitchers they will come. The CPU pitches low & away alot which is realistic so you have to be patient.

Last night I was batting with Ryan Howard and Bud Norris of the Astros was pitching. I had a man on 2nd and thought for sure he was going to pitch around me so I was waiting for balls to get ahead in the count. Instead, I end up sucking on 3 strikes and I was like "Wow, that was some ballsy pitching!" He only threw one ball on him.

Next man up is Ibanez and I'm thinking if Bud wants to pitch this way then I'm going after him. Sure enough, first pitch he throws up a duck above the belt and BAM! Moon shot. It Felt so good.

      It's in the user manual.

I play that power is normal swing, contact is defensive swinging and defensive swing is foul off pitches protect the plate.

If I start hitting to many hr this way I move the power slider down, If Im getting to many hits I lower the contact slider.

The other way you can play is the way everyone does with power swing, contact and defensive as is but then I would bump up the power and lower contact sliders.

Either way works just depends on your thought process.
Yep this is the way I hit as well and it works great. I love the hitting in this game.

I have noticed that depending on the players contact rating, it is easier or harder to hit with a power swing. for example if the contact rating of a player is under 70 your timing has to be much more exact in order to make good contact and drive the ball, or else you will get a whole lot pop up to the infield and catcher.

i only hit with power swing like many here with a: 2-1, 3-1 count i don't swing with a 3-0 at all and with a 2-0 count only if its in the player hot zone. everything else is normal contact swing for me.

if you have good timing you can get the ball to the gaps with a regular contact swing pretty often, if you are hitting a lot of week dribbler you tend to swing a bit too early, mainly because you are hitting on top of the ball. you are almost better off letting the ball travel a bit deeper in the strike zone and send it up the middle or to the opposite side and get much better wood with a contact swing.

Very interesting POV on hitting. With me still being in ST.I think I'll experiment with this. Thanks.

Re: NORMAL SWING VICE POWER SWING

I'm using classic hitting and when I press B before the pitch my controller rumbles/vibrates a little bit which leads me to believe it does something since this doesn't happen when you press any other button. But since there is basically no instruction manual for this game I dunno what it does. Anyone know why it vibrates?

And I haven't hit any home runs which is why I'm thinking of switching to hitting with the stick controls.

How does the power swing work exactly? I mean do you pull down and hold it while the pitcher is in wind up...then push up when pitch comes in? Or is it down than quickly up in one motion after pitch is thrown?

                      That's how you power swing
