    Too many damn injuries.

Started 5 different franchises, even put the injury slider to 5 in the last one, and Halladay goes down with an injury on opening day every time.

I've been looking all over for the injury slider to turn it town. Where in the heck is it???
Two of my starting pitchers are already down and that's about enough for now!

Injury slider is where the rest of the sliders are under the options tab labeled game sliders or something like that. I turned my injuries down to 25 at the beginning because of all the whining about too many injuries, through the spring training and first 2 weeks of the season I've had maybe 3 or 4 injuries of the 2-5 day variety, seems pretty good to me.

I also simmed the same franchise through the all star game once, just to see how things would go, only had about 5 or 6 injuries or so pop up that whole time, none that required any time on the injured list. I dunno if I'm just getting lucky, I'm oblivious or what, but I haven't had near the number of problems with injuries or anything else that people seem to be talking about.

        Put it on 35.

I have had 1 injury and that was a sprain for a few days. I had the same problem when I tried 50 then 10. I kept getting alot of injuries, Why 35 worked I do not know.

But I have played about a month or two into the franchise and still no major injuries for me. Injuries DO happen but not unrealistically.

I still have it at default 50 and I just finished spring training with the Reds.
I have had two total injuries, Chapman was out 4 days and Fred Lewis missed 10 days.
I am just not seeing the injuries that everyone else is.

you guys are lucky in my Franchise in 2 weeks of play I've had 5 pitchers go out on the DL even though I make sure to stay under the recommended pitch count.

Maybe it's that the devs are from NorCal and they programmed it in to punish the Dodgers. I've lost Billingsly and Lilly for 2 months.

Before you go denouncing the game, and the amount of injuries being seen.

                How bout putting it context?

I've played at least 7 or 8 games, and have seen two pitcher injuries. One was to Kevin Correia and did not require a DL stint. The other to Corey Resop who had to go on the 15 day DL.

Are you watching the pitch counts and energy levels?

Are you maxing out every pitch?

Bingo. If you are maxing out your pitches every time, you're risking injury. I've noticed that since I've been careful with the effort used on each pitch, I've had only 2 injuries to pitchers, and they are only of the 'day-to-day' variety. It was hard for me to train myself because I could max out every pitch on 2k10 without worrying about injuries...but I love the challenge.

                    Re: Too many damn injuries.

It would have been nice to know the max pitch thing before getting half a month into franchise and have about 8 pitchers on the DL and 2 others hurt. But even with carefulness of pitches, watching pitch count, etc, it doesn't seem to make much difference. I'm still having injury problems. I have changed my injury slider numerous times. It is down at 23 now. Every time I have lost a pitcher it has been well before their pitch count range and well before they were even showing fatigue.

If you say max pitches are what does it, shouldn't that just make the pitchers fatigue faster rather than affect their durability? Sure, I'm seeing less drastic injuries now on a 23 setting as opposed to 50 (more DTD and less 60DL) but I am having a pitcher get inured every 3-4 games played.

The biggest difference I have seen is playing games vs. simming. I had 3 injuries the first 2 games of Spring Training I played, I adjusted the injury slider and simmed through to the last 2 games of ST and had no injuries until I played the last 2 games. I adjusted the slider again and then Opening Day my starter gets hurt in the 5th inning. Game 2 my starter gets hurt in the 5th inning. I turned down injuries again and make it through Game 3 and 4 without injury but my closer goes on DTD in game 5 and then Game 6 my starter gets hurt in the 5th inning. Game 10 my starter gets hurt and then around game 13 I read max pitch throwing may affect injuries. I sim game 14 and play game 15 and am careful not to throw too many max pitches (I threw maybe 4 max pitches out of +/- 25 total pitches) and my starter gets hurt in the 3rd inning. I really have no idea what to do. I mean, I like the realism and strategy that having injuries turned on provides but it is neither realistic or fun to have a pitcher get hurt every 3 games and to have Dempster, Garza, Sean Marshall and John Grabow all on 60 day DL.

I would love to hear from someone after they have played all 162 games of the season how deep into their AAA/AA starters they are. I can not imagine getting through this whole season playing even just 90-110 games without having had an injury to every single pitcher on my MLB staff. I would love to know the difference the injury slider makes on 25 vs 35 vs 50. And it seems to me that, because of the "fatigue glitch" in franchise mode, my pitchers should be even less likely to get injured every time they go out there.

Well...in reality which pitcher throws with everything they've got on every pitch?

Are your amount of injuries unrealistic? IMO, No.

Look at the 2010 Cubs, you only had two starters make 30+ starts (Dempster and Wells). Given Zambrano was suspended for a period of time, but still...

I have the injury slider at 39 and have had only two players placed on the DL through about 13 games - spanning 8 user games.

Maybe not over the course of a full season but over the course of two weeks? Yes, I think it is unrealistic for all but 1 pitcher in the starting rotation to face injuries in the first 12 games....especially considering the one pitcher in my rotation who has yet to be hurt is Carlos Silva, a pitcher who in real life is generally viewed as an injury risk. Don't worry, I'm sure he will get hurt next start.

Look man, I get the stuff about max pitches, it makes sense, as I said. Maybe it was naiveté on my part or whatever, but from 2k10 coming into 2k11, I always thought "max pitch" was a goal one strived for with every pitch and that was why the pitch meter moved quickly was to make it harder to throw a max pitch. Maybe that's also because the first time I played an XBox was last year with 2k10 (my system/baseball game of choice before that was World Series Baseball 1994 for Sega Genesis). Who knows?

I hate complaining about the game because I love it in so many other areas and was looking so forward to it this season.
I haven't given up on it but I would be lying if I said I was not frustrated with it at the moment.
