    Re: Trade Discussion Thread

Im looking for a player that I can develop into a star. I wanna find someone who is preferably 24 or younger and it would be realistic to trade for. So now trading for Jason Heyward or Strasburg or anything. Anyone got any good ideas?

Tell me if you guys think any of these names would be realistic to trade for. Keep in mind I would give up more than required to make it a actual fair deal like Heath Bell or something. Which is these players would be realistic to trade for and which wouldn't

    Andrew McCutchen
    Jay Bruce
    Colby Rasmus
    Ike Davis
    Logan Morrison
    Yonder Alonso
    Drew Stubbs

      Anyways heres a good idea,

I suggest you trade Andrew Baily who is a good young closer to a team who lacks a good closer.

Teams you can try to do this for that are all pretty realistic.

The ones I highlight in RED mean it's not realistic but it's a good trade, BLUE means it's realistic but not a good trade, and GREEN means it's both.

      -Angels: Howie Kendrick LF

-Astros: Hunter Pence RF or Chris Johnson 3B

-Blue jays: Adam Lind 1B or Aaron Hill 2B

      -Cardinals: Colby Rasmus CF

-D-Backs: Kelly Johnson 2B, Stephen Drew SS

-Orioles: Nick Markakis RF, Luke Scott LF, Mark Reynolds 3B

      -Phillies: Shane Victorino CF

      -Rays: Matt Joyce RF

-Reds: Jay Bruce RF, Drew Stubbs CF, Johnny Gomes LF, Scott Rolen 3B

      -Tigers: Brennan Boesch LF

-White Sox: Carlos Quentin RF, Alex Rios CF, Alexi Ramirez SS

-Yankees: Nick Swisher RF, Curtis Granderson CF, Brett Gardner LF
Man bro, this is SUPER helpful!

I think Gomes would make a great A; he's a favorite of mine. I also like Luke Scott. The O's are desperate to move both Markakis and Scott in the franchise due to pitching needs. The Astros are also looking to move Pence because they're in the cellar.

In the infield, I'm kind of intrigued by Aaron Hill. I was looking at him last night and he's got dynamite in his bat. The Mets were willing to move David Wright for a modest price as well, and I'm considering him. IRL I think the Mets aren't sure what to do with him and Reyes, and I like is ability in the field as well.

I'll update this when I pull the trigger. Once again, thanks for such a helpful response!

As a Pirates fan, I can tell you that if you want realism, don't trade for McCutchen. He and the team are currently working on a 5+ year extension, so he won't be going anywhere any time soon.

I can also tell you that the Reds are not going to realistically give up Jay Bruce. Here in Cincy there's talk of letting Votto go after two years, before getting rid of Bruce. Same thing with Stubbs. I wouldnt let realism deter you though. Bruce ends up a 90 overall after one year and after two years, hes a 95.

If you need help in your middle infield, the BoSox are willing to mae a blockbuster trade sending Pedroia and Jose Iglesias(great defensive and 5 star SS, starts at a 75 overall) to you for 6 players. This is well worth it IMO. I did this in my Mariners chise. My M's currently have a 87 in pitching and a 86 overall in batting (and I had thse ratings before spring training even started). I made lots of other moves though. Brought in Mark Reynolds, Mike Stanton, Tabata, Broxton and Gregerson to name a few.

What about Yonder Alonso? The back up 1B for Votto?

I just want to find a young player under 25 and like an 80+ rating that I can develop into a superstar, but i'm having trouble finding one that would be realistic to trade for.

What do you think about trading for J.P Arencibia?

                  Re: Trade Discussion Thread

So I pulled the trigger on a deal with the Jays after looking at the advice here, etc. I sent them Andrew Bailey and got Aaron Hill and Adam Lind in return. I was surprised they gave up both players, but looking into it their pitching was so atrocious that they needed to do something big.

Hill was on a one-year deal, so that may have affected their logic too. Given my low payroll, he may wind up being a rental and Lind might be the real long-term acquisition in that trade.

I feel like the Jays should have asked for more. Bailey is leading the league in saves and is a very dominant pitcher, but Hill and Lind are both plus players. What do you guys think?

I'm very happy with the way those acquisitions changed my lineup. I can live with a closer by committee approach for the flexibility those bats give me in the lineup. I will say though that I can tell Hill is no Ellis in the field. He stonehanded a ball hit right at him in his first game as an A, lol.

That trade is very fair. Your giving up a 26 year old elite closer for 2 average players. They both got some good power but they wont hit for average at all.

Yeah, Hill and Lind are not stars nor will they ever be, but they're good bats and allow me to have power dispersed throughout the lineup. I will definitely miss Bailey, but I have so much good pitching on that team that I think I'll be able to get by.

Im still trying to figure out whos a good young player I can develop into a star, and who is also realistic to trade for. Anyone got any ideas? I would prefer a power hitter, something like the next Jose Bautista.

Freddie Freeman. He can hit for power and average, plus he is just sick with the glove. 20 years old, 77 overall 5*.

The thing is, I kind of want it to be realistic. The Braves would never get rid of Freeman unfortunately.

I'm in May in my Rangers franchise and I'm feeling like bringing another bat into my already powerful lineup. I have some quality pitching at AAA as I traded for Mike Minor and I have guys like Brandon Webb and Scott Feldman. I'm a huge fan of Hunter Pence as I love the style he plays. I know trading 5* Minor (my number one prospect) and Webb for Pence isn't exactly realistic but is it cheating? Pence is batting .258 with only 5 RBI's in 20 games whereas Minor is tearing up AAA. I want him but I feel it's almost too unfair. You guys agree?

Think of it like this. The Padres traded Adrian Gonzalez for the Red Sox Top Prospect, another top 5 prospect, and a top 15 prospect
