Re: does the AI ever sub for fatigued players in franchise
This isn't true. There is no fatigue for user controlled players while actually playing games. Your team will get fatigued if you sim and all cpu players do get fatigued. Obviously this is still a major screw up that is hard to understand being released in the first place. Hopefully this gets fixed in the next patch which we probably won't see until May.Comment

Re: does the AI ever sub for fatigued players in franchise
Doing 30 teams for this particular bug isn't really necessary. As stated above, it only messes with user controlled teams that play the game. Any simmed user games & all cpu games have the fatigue working ok. Some bad QA to let this one slide, but it's much easier to deal with than some other bugs would be. Just sub some players in & out now & then like you normally would.
Little harder if you want to keep up with how fatigued your relievers are, but I just mix it when pitching. My SP rotation is the same unless there's an injury, so that isn't a huge deal (I won't bother mentioning I lost 3/5 of the rotation in 4 games on the default sliders, but that's a different well known discussion).
Easy work around or not though, this should & hopefully will be patched.Comment

Re: does the AI ever sub for fatigued players in franchise
i understand that fatigue works when you sim user and cpu games. the problem is that the AI won't sub for tired players. for example, say i sim 2 games out of a three game series. the catcher for the opposing team starts the first 2. now i want to play the 3rd game. the fatigue shows that the catcher needs a rest (orange health sign), so you would think the AI would substitute. but they don't even if fatigue is at 0.
Bottom line is we really shouldn't have needed to have this conversation, it should have been caught to begin with. I like the game though, so I'll struggle along for now I guess. I just don't feel like doing the 30 team thing anymore. I did it with the Show last year & it starts to become more of a grind than a game (for me anyway).Comment

Re: does the AI ever sub for fatigued players in franchise
It's not just with positional subbing. The CPU won't switch out pitchers with 0 energy. I've run tests, and the CPU will keep a pitcher with 0 energy in the game for 3, 4, 5 innings. You're right, if we spent the season trying to correct and control every badly programmed aspect of this game, it would start to become a real grind.Comment

Re: does the AI ever sub for fatigued players in franchise
the AI definitely does not sub for fatigued position players whatsoever. however there is a silver lining if you have the pc version. using tywiggins editor, what i do is when playing a series i'll take note of the AI relief pitchers, then depending how long they pitch, i'll reduce their fatigue. so when i play the next game, say a particular reliever has very low stamina, the AI will not bring him in. they'll use the relievers with higher levels.Comment

Re: does the AI ever sub for fatigued players in franchise
Are you sure that's how the CPU selects relievers? In most games, the CPU simply chooses the highest rated player at his position. I know PES 2011 works the way you're describing -- the CPU will start lower-rated players if the starter is low in form (fatigue/condition). But most games typically aren't programmed that way.Comment

Re: does the AI ever sub for fatigued players in franchise
The reason I questioned it is because I ran some tests the other day. I lowered the stamina of the CPU starting pitchers, then watched as they got gassed by the third inning. But the CPU never brought in a middle or long reliever. It just let the starting pitcher pitch for 3, 4, 5 more innings on 0 energy.Comment

Re: does the AI ever sub for fatigued players in franchise
Are pitchers getting pulled early because of fatigue, or because they allow 2-3 hits in a row, which then triggers the AI to yank the pitcher? Anyway, I feel the same way: none of it makes much difference to me as I'm enjoying the game as is.Comment
